Bernard and Susan are custodians of the farm, primarily using the land for poultry (egg), pig, and goat farming. They are transitioning to an off-grid and eco-friendly lifestyle for their retirement. The Hatch Farm is home to many animals, most of whom are rescues - including border collies, cavalier king charles spaniels, chickens, ducks, pigs, sheep, goats, miniature horses, cows, cats, rabbits, and guinea pigs. There is plenty to do and see around the farm from complete relaxation, interacting with the friendly animals (there is usually a variety of babies to cuddle!), to casting a line or launching your boat from the rustic boat ramp. There are three Brumbies that live over the fence and 5 other horses that will no doubt come and say hello. They are all friendly, especially if you have a carrot. There are also a lot of kangaroos and wallabies, some quite friendly as they have been raised by our neighbour who does animal rescue. There are also a lot of different species of birds, including the much-loved Black Cockatoos which are in abundance here. We have also seen turtles, frilled neck lizards, diamond pythons, red belly black snakes (rarely) and goannas.

The Hatch Farm is home to many animals, most of whom are rescues - including border collies, cavalier king charles spaniels, chickens, ducks, pigs, sheep, goats, miniature horses, cows, cats, rabbits, and guinea pigs. There are three Brumbies that live over the fence and 5 other horses that will no doubt come and say hello. They are all friendly, especially if you have a carrot. There are also a lot of kangaroos and wallabies, some quite friendly as they have been raised by our neighbour who does animal rescue. There are also a lot of different species of birds, including the much-loved Black Cockatoos which are in abundance here. We have also seen turtles, frilled neck lizards, diamond pythons, red belly black snakes (rarely) and goannas.

Heartwood Farm is a centrally located 120 acres on the Mid-North Coast - about halfway between Sydney and Brisbane, only 1.5 kms off Pacific Highway, 25 mins to Port Macquarie, 15 Mins to Kempsey, 30 minutes to Crescent Head and 45 mins to South West Rocks. We are off grid and live close to nature and enjoy the abundance that provides. We have been building and developing for the last few years. We are still a work in progress. There are three Brumbies that live over the fence and 5 other horses that will no doubt come and say hello. They are all friendly, especially if you have a carrot. There are also a lot of kangaroos and wallabies, some quite friendly as they have been raised by our neighbour who does animal rescue. There are also a lot of different species of birds, including the much-loved Black Cockatoos which are in abundance here. We have also seen turtles, frilled neck lizards, diamond pythons, red belly black snakes (rarely) and goannas.

The children LOVED playing with Sally (their beautiful & clever border collie) all day long, and the adults LOVED the space, right next to the river. It was a wonderful and unique experience, especially for us city dwellers. Make sure you get the campfire package! Susan also brought the kids into her ‘petting zoo’ and they got to cuddle rabbits, baby chicks, guinea pigs… So fun.

Little Plain Hall grounds - a small rural hall and grounds celebrating their 100th year in 2023 and adjacent to the Ellenborough River with a number of bush campsites available. (If you are after more than a nice piece of grass and a flushing toilet then this property maybe isn't for you!) All sites are reached via dirt tracks that can be rough and slippery. Sites 1 and 2 are adjacent to each other behind the hall and closest to the toilet and the most accessible-more suited to caravans and those without 4 wheel drives. Sites 3, 4 and 5 are adjacent to each other on the banks of the river. Site 6 is separate from the others on the bank of Little Plain Creek but furthest from the toilet. PLEASE NOTE: Access to the river at sites 3, 4 and 5 - the banks are steep and though we have a narrow track down it is slippery. There is access to the river at other spots on the property. This open grassed area of 6 acres is 5 kms further on from the Ellenborough Falls turnoff. (We are not near Ellenborough village but in Elands- this is a somewhat common error when people look us up.) We are a community-run non-profit facility available to campers. All funds raised are used to improve the grounds and hall. Directions to find us: From the Pacific Highway either from Port Macquarie or Taree: Following the Brown tourist signs to Ellenborough Falls turn off/ continue straight ahead on Glenwarrin Road (don't turn into the falls). You will cross over 2 bridges. After the second bridge we are the next property on the right. Larger rigs are not advised. because of the winding dirt roads to get to our village. One toilet available and limited tank water - please BYO water and be water wise with the tank water at the hall. Well behaved pets are welcome. Hall available for hire - please send an enquiry. Very secluded, managed forest with endless opportunities for exploring, including rainforest areas. A 12-acre cleared driveway features spacious, level camping sites, with an additional 100 acres of flood-free paradise where guests can choose from multiple camping locations. There are four major dams that are deep and clean, and a recently built gravel road along the northern boundary leads to Gypsy Corner, where you can watch the sunset over the mountains and see the trains rolling by three kilometres away. An unlimited supply of dry firewood is available, composting toilets are on site, and you can walk the 5.5 kilometres of fence line without seeing a single house. Abundant wildlife includes kangaroos, goannas, bandicoots, and wallabies. Guests must take great care when walking in the bush. I supply hard hats and warning signs where appropriate. Push bikes and canoes are available for use, and there is great fishing along the Lansdowne River on the way to Harrington and arguably the most beautiful beach on the Mid North Coast—Crowdy Beach. Mount Vincent Lookout is directly north and about a 20-minute drive, with the Lansdowne General Store only 10 minutes away. During summer, small fires are allowed for cooking only, but in the cooler months it is possible to sit around a campfire all night. Animals may be allowed, but please check with me first regarding what you have, and I will let you know.

Welcome to Whispering Mountain. We are a small hobby farm with a menagerie of animals to pat and see. Our main attraction is our Engkish and Irish Donkeys and our emus, but of course, there’s a lot more than these girls and guys. We have a large paddock adjacent to Lansdowne River, where we welcome self-contained campers to set up and enjoy the peace, and easy river access. The paddock does not have any trees or toilet amenities at this stage. So it's currently BYO toilets/showers please, and all waste it to be taken when you depart. We are 20 minutes out of Taree and 50 minutes to Port Macquarie. There are local beaches at Manning Point and Crowdy Head. Great for fishing. There is also 15min to Big Nelly where you can drive to the top of the mountain and many other stops to stop and look over the region, so you can take a picnic basket and flask, if you feeling more adventures you cam stop at Watui Falls amd then head up and over the mountains to ... WARNING this trek of mountain road is only accessible by 4WD. There's also Ellebrough falls. If you’re looking for extra fun we offer Archery lessons and are affiliated with Archery NSW. We also offer a petting zoo for a small additional cost. Ask us for more details!
