We are located right on the edge of the Macleay river with lots of space for you to camp near the river front, or in the paddock amongst the green flat grass. Use the camp as a base and head out for a kayak, on the stand up paddle board or simply throw a line in for a spot of fishing. Crabbing is permitted in this area. You need to be fully self-contained with own camping toilet/shower. Relax around the campfire and help the kids toast marshmallows. The beach is within driving distance, it's 5 minutes to town Dogs on leashes welcome. Please note that each booking includes 1 drivable + 1 towable vehicle. If your group has more than 1 drivable vehicle, please book a second site. Michael is friendly, kind Aussie bloke with a beautiful property to share. Highly recommend this location, being right on the river and so close to town. Will definitely stay here again. Thanks Mick!

Lovely lush grassy spot right on the river opposite Pelican Island sandbank. Further back several rows of hedges provide a wind break if needed. Easy access.

We loved our camp. Private, couldn’t see or hear other campers.Watched kangaroos crossing through the river in the afternoons! (Unreal to witness). Michael welcoming. Lots of schools of bait right at your doorstep. 10/10!

Highly recommend this spot. Only 10 minutes drive to south west rocks. Great spot to park up, watch fish, let the kids run around and enjoy the peace. Will definitely be back to this spot.

You have about 1 km of river frontage to choose from with easy access. The Macleay river is full of fish and crabs you just have to be able to catch them. Michael is very welcoming and helpful. We stayed 5 nights and loved it. Coles up the road, variety of beaches and swimming areas to choose from. Beautiful surroundings.

This was our second time staying at the Macleay home camp , and we loved it so much we extended our stay. Set right along the Macleay River, it’s truly a slice of paradise. Perfect for our off-grid caravans, peaceful, relaxing, and surrounded by beautiful scenery. A wonderful place to unwind and enjoy nature, we’ll definitely be back.

What a great place to unwind host was friendly & helpful great location campsites are well maintained Site supervisor( dog ) checked in on us each day she was an absolute charmer

We loved our stay here and will definitely be back! The camping area is perfectly manicured and we were able to walk around most places barefoot. Fishing off the bank was heaps of fun, and being able to cross over onto the mud flats at low tide was a bonus. The owner was lovely and very much let us camp in peace. Our 3 dogs were on lead while at camp, though we did walk them across to the flats for a big off lead run of an evening, and the owners pup had a fantastic time chasing and wrestling with our younger dog. River access was great, and we were among many keen fishers trying to nab a Flatty. Fantastic stay! 🎉

Parking by the riverside was lovely. Instructions to get there and where to set up were clear. Michael was lovely to chat to and very helpful.

If you want to camp by the Macleay river on large grassy and well maintained sites then Michael’s property is for you. Michael the host is friendly and approachable and the location of the property is ideal, it is situated a short 5 min drive to grocery shops (Coles & IGA) and a 8-10 min drive to South West Rocks and its numerous cafes, pubs & beaches. We would recommend Michael’s property 😁 Important Note- If you stay at Michael’s sites you will need to be self contained as there are no toilets or showers and you will need bring your own drinking water.

We did a 2 week camp trip and camped at different places along the way. This was by far the best one. The sites were nice and flat with lush green grass. We camped right along the water which was perfect for my partner to fish from. Although very busy is was nice and quiet. The owner was also very friendly and stopped to have a chat with us. It would be even better if facilities were added however it wasn’t a big deal for us as we brought our own. We will definitely be coming back

What a great spot. Property is very well maintained and the river is great. Super convenient spot with only a 5 minute drive into the rocks or 15 minutes to hat head. Loved the daily visits we got from the hosts little puppy. We will definitely be back in the future.

Fantastic find! Well kept property, peaceful and private. Right on the lake, mozzie spray of course required. It rained on our night which just added to the tranquillity and charm. Our first ever use of Hipcamp - this has set the bar high!

We loved being beside the river. It was private and relaxing. Caught a flathead and bream. Our dogs made friends with their collie pup. Just a bit windy on some days but that happens. Thank you for sharing your property.

Quiet Riverside camping

We loved our caravan holiday at Michaels property by the river, we stayed in bay 3 by the big tree which gave us great shade to sit and fish by the river all day, we caught jewfish, bream, flathead, a few rays, great to be able to swim to cool off, very relaxing campsite, easy to access through the property, close to SWR township
