A dairy farm for many years, we switched over to beef around 15 years ago. Currently we run around 120 head of Angus and mixed breed cattle.
Within 3 hours drive of Sydney and around an hour from the Barrington National Parks, Newcastle, Maitland, Forster and Nelson Bay, it makes it the perfect destination for a weekend getaway!
We are offering 6 beautiful, partly shaded, camping sites along the pristine Upper Karuah River. All sites are separated for privacy and are all right on the edge of the river.
There are plenty of opportunities for bird watching, hiking, swimming, kayaking, fishing (in summer), star gazing or just relaxing.
All sites are site only and no toilet or shower facilities are provided. You will need to bring your own camping toilet or self contained caravan/ camper (dump point is located in Stroud township)

Our property is the perfect place to camp. Sally and Brian invite you to enjoy camping on their beautiful property, surrounded by Yengo National Park and Crown land. Earthways is 134 ha (330 acre) property near Wollombi. All separate for your individual group- you won't see anyone else. Long weekends we have minimum numbers for the larger sites-we also have plenty of sites for 2 people. 25minutes from Wollombi or Broke. Come and enjoy the noises of the bush and the clear night skies with no close human neighbors. Great for couples, families or larger groups or just come alone to enjoy the bush.
We (Brian and Sally) have been re-vegetating the land and living here sustainably being “Off Grid” for over 45years, surrounded by bush with 3km of Stockyard creek meandering through the valley. HOT and dry summer so the creek is not flowing at present. We would love to share this paradise with those wanting to get away from wifi and the hustle and bustle of city life. (for emergencies we have satellite phone) Children 3yrs and under are free. Dogs welcome but kept on a lead during the evening.
No leeches and No ticks in this area. NO close neighbors. Perfect spot to pitch your tent or set up your camper in the valley. Lots of sunshine and lots of shade. Easy dirt road access (6km) Some sites require/recommend 4WD -some 2WD is fine. Check with us before booking if needed.
Come and take advantage of the Wollombi Valley's beautiful scenery and atmosphere. Sit and relax or get adventurous and explore the area. The historic village of Wollombi is only 25 minutes away, and has cafes, shop, museum and the Wollombi Tavern. The popular Broke and Pokolbin wine regions are a short 25-40 minute drive away in the opposite direction. Yengo National Park has some wonderful look out spots-great to drive to Finchley lookout to watch the sun set or check out Aboriginal art sites.
No guarantee but...You may see wombats, kangaroos, echidnas, goanna's, kookaburras, bower birds, lyre birds, superb blue wren, gang gangs, black cockatoos and so many other native birds/creatures.

Located only 8 minutes drive from the historical town of Stroud which was settled by the AA Company in the 1820's as a food growing area. There are still many beautiful buildings from that period to explore.
A dairy farm for many years, we switched over to beef around 15 years ago. Currently we run around 120 head of Angus and mixed breed cattle.
Within 3 hours drive of Sydney and around an hour from the Barrington National Parks, Newcastle, Maitland, Forster and Nelson Bay, it makes it the perfect destination for a weekend getaway!
We are offering 6 beautiful, partly shaded, camping sites along the pristine Upper Karuah River. All sites are separated for privacy and are all right on the edge of the river.
There are plenty of opportunities for bird watching, hiking, swimming, kayaking, fishing (in summer), star gazing or just relaxing.
All sites are site only and no toilet or shower facilities are provided. You will need to bring your own camping toilet or self contained caravan/ camper (dump point is located in Stroud township)

Another wonderful stay at Willowbank. This was our second trip, but our first time at Paperbark site. Immaculately kept, spacious, private, direct river access. There was so much space for the kids to run free, ride bikes and explore. We enjoyed the shade of the big trees in the field during the day and an incredible fire by night. Thank you Joanne. We loved our time here. We had the bath tub site which was tucked into a quiet back corner of thr property, but still only 100m to the toilet. Toilets were clean and really well maintained. There were only 2 other groups camping over the weekend, and very quiet and relaxing. Thanks for having us!

Rolf was the perfect host and so great in the lead up with all of my groups questions, then when we arrived was helpful, even dropped us water, popped in to make sure we were all fine then left us to be.
The site was magical, we loved every minute, lots of little walks, and privacy so kids could be mkids and make noise etc.
We will be back for sure!

Jo and Ian are wonderful hosts, the property is absolutely stunning, we stayed at old cedar and it was an absolute treat looking over the river watching out for platypuses!
The camp spots are well positioned with enough room for kids to run around without being near the next campsite.
They have firewood to buy and was good hardwood to keep us warm.
We definitely will be back to check out the other sites!

Loved camping here again. Wonderful friendly hosts who show you to your site and are tgere if you need them. The sites are beautifully maintained and have a fire pit which is beautiful in the colder months. As there are only 6 sites you have large sites, privacy and no noise. The access to the river is great for exploring swimming etc. And the scenery is just beautiful. Cant wait to go back!

We stayed 2 nights and the new Platypus campsite and it was fantastic. Although the weather was drizzly the whole second day it didn't stop us from briefly exploring the property and checking out Brian and Sally's beehives and mead and most importantly, relaxing. We put up our tarp over the big log for a special feel. There are other campsites along the road but they are quite the distance apart and felt very secluded. We would happily return again.

My husband and I absolutely loved tent camping at Firefly Ridge. It was exactly as described and easy to get to. Spectacular views for sunset, sunrise and stargazing. Super quiet and tranquil with really pretty birdsong all about. Luke was one of the most accommodating and down to earth hosts we've ever encountered when travelling. Top bloke. His dog Titan also added to our trip. He was very affectionate and got on well with our groodle. Oh and the highland cows are worth meeting, especially if you go at sunset and take a beer or two down to have at the wine barrels.

My wife and I recently stayed at Sunset Flats and had a fantastic experience.
Robert, the landowner, met us at the designated meeting point and escorted us to the campground, as the access road can be a bit rough. On arrival, he kindly offered us some fresh produce including lemongrass, lemons, cherry guava and mint, which was a really thoughtful touch.
Once we arrived at the site, Robert gave us a quick tour of the property, including emergency points, the location of amenities and an overview of the different dispersed camping spots available. The amenities were very clean and well maintained.
After we had set up, he stopped by briefly to check that we had everything we needed. He even went out of his way to cut up some fallen branches near our campsite with his battery chainsaw so we could use them as firewood.
The campsite itself was fantastic and very private and peaceful. Overall, we had a great time at Sunset Flats. Robert was extremely accommodating and a genuinely lovely person.

We stayed at Halacal Farm for one night last week and it was such a lovely little escape. I took my daughters camping and the setup was perfect for us — private, peaceful, and completely tucked away.
Our site felt really secluded, which we actually loved. It wasn’t huge, but it didn’t need to be — it had everything we needed and felt cosy, safe, and easy to manage with kids. It made the whole experience feel more relaxed and intimate rather than overwhelming.
The quiet was incredible. Sitting by the fire with no noise around, just enjoying time together, was exactly what we were after. It’s the kind of place where you can properly switch off and just be present.
Everything was well kept and thoughtfully set up, and the whole property had a calm, welcoming feel.
We’ll definitely be back — next time for longer than one night.
