Located 19 km due east of the famous historical village of Tenterfield the working, cattle breeding, property "Mindoo" has recently opened its gates to campers. Framed by the rugged border range National Parks "Mindoo" is 1100 acres of rolling green hills dissected by the pure, cascading, waters of the Cataract River which provide a number of private riverside campsites. Campers are encouraged to meander along the continually changing River and explore its many secluded swimming holes and enjoy the abundant wildlife that cohabitates with the Angus/Wagyu cow herd. Direct access to the neighbouring National Parks and State Forests offers an array of day trips to hikers, mountain bikers, or horse riders where they can discover the natural treasures of Basket Swamp and Boonoo Boonoo Falls, Woolool Woolooni, among others. For those who require a little more comfort, and lets face it we all do at times, the Mindoo Cabin is available. Featuring three bedrooms, open plan living/dining/kitchen,and a shady deck overlooking the River the cabin sleeps eight and still allows visitors to partake in all the adventures that "Mindoo" offers with the benefit of a comfortable rest when the day is done. Unfortunately horse riding is no longer covered by our insurance policy. You are able to bring your horses, however evidence of your own insurance policy must be provided. Be as adventurous or as restful as you please as both options are freely available. Mountain Biking, Hiking, or just riding your hammock and relaxing we are sure you will enjoy your time at "Mindoo". All of our river sites are designated and are space apart. As most of our sites are on the river and have farm tracks to access, if it is wet we may have to move you to a different site. 4wds are recommended for all sites and are required for some site. Please read the listing for the campsite you are wanting to book. Some of our sites do not suit caravans. All roads require high clearance vans. If you do not like dogs or your own dogs are not very sociable Mindoo may not be the place for you. Daisy the Doodle (Golden Retriever/Poodle) and Paul the Pig Dog (a very gentle Bull Mastif/Catahoula) like to come and say hello to campers at The Park & The Junction. So you can easily go into Ballina town for all shops, cafes, restaurants, etc. If the ferry isn't for you, you can drive to Ballina via Wardell on River Drive. The bungalow is located approx. 25m from the main residence, and the campsite is located approx. 300m from the main residence tucked away in the paddocks and forest. We are onsite and available if needed. Sugar Beach Ranch is an operating farm with staff onsite caring for animals and maintaining the grounds. Historically known as a resting point for bullock teams hauling timber from the surrounding forests on their way to a saw mill in the lower valley, Bajimba is now home to Merv & Carey. We are just over 1080 metres above sea level, with 57 acres of eucalypt & grass tree forests, grass pastures, and a small (but mighty) organic farm. Accommodation options include "West View “situated at our highest elevation with incredible views from the deck, and "Bullock Camp" which can accommodate tents, caravans or motor homes. When making travel arrangements, note we are in NSW and therefore are 1 hour ahead of QLD during day light savings months. There is an an outdoor undercover space including a kitchenette area, BBQ, sink, fridge, freezer, kettle, microwave & cutlery/crockery. Please note there is no oven or cooktop, only a BBQ. There are two hammocks and outdoor lounges to spend some time enjoying the view and time together. For those looking for a bit of adventure there is plenty to do in the surrounding area. Local attractions include: Whiann Whiann Falls- swimming hole- (5 minutes) Nightcap National Park, including spectacular Minyon Falls (30 minutes) Rocky Creek Dam, which has walks and a platypus trail (10 minutes) Eltham Hotel (15 minutes) The Channon Tavern and monthly markets (10 minutes) Bangalow Markets (20 minutes) Important information: Linen not provided. Doona, sheets, pillow tea towels needed. PLEASE NOTE: This is a "glamping" experience so insects and nature is a part of the experience. The tents are set on a concrete slab which is regularly sprayed however insects will still be around as the tents are set in the middle of the paddock so please be mindful of this. This property uses Solar Power (not connected to the grid) so please be aware of energy usage. All lights and general appliances are low energy and remain suitable for use over an extended sunless/cloudy period. If you drain the solar you will lose power and hot water. Both domes have aircon. The air-con cannot be left on. They were installed so if you have been out exploring all day and return to find a very hot or cold dome it gives you the ability to modify the temperature quickly. Once the dome has been cooled down or heated up (in our experience this takes approximately 10-15 mins) you can switch it off and use the fans provided if the evening is warm. If you leave the aircon continually running or forget to turn it off and go out you will lose power and the power will not return until the solar has had a chance to recharge the next day. There are 2 portable fans inside the domes and a fan for outdoor use for hot days. To reduce the impact on hot days the domes have rooftop curtains that should remain closed along with the front window curtains to keep the tents cooler. Guests have access to the entire 120 acre property. There is a gate for access to the paddocks beyond the dome fencing. The gate needs to be closed immediately after entering and exiting to prevent cows entering the dome area and causing damage or exiting onto the main road. You can stroll along the road until you reach the bushland on the far end of the property. We do not recommend walking through long grass on the property without protective footwear as snakes are known to live in the hinterlands region. Please be aware the driveway to the domes is not sealed. It is a gravel driveway. In the rain it may be slippery. Parking at the top of the property is recommended for cars that are not suitable for gravel inclines.

For those who require a little more comfort, and lets face it we all do at times, the Mindoo Cabin is available. Featuring three bedrooms, open plan living/dining/kitchen,and a shady deck overlooking the River the cabin sleeps eight and still allows visitors to partake in all the adventures that "Mindoo" offers with the benefit of a comfortable rest when the day is done. Unfortunately horse riding is no longer covered by our insurance policy. You are able to bring your horses, however evidence of your own insurance policy must be provided. Having 3-bedrooms and 3 bathrooms it is an ideal place for a relaxing weekend. The cabin has flat ground on 2 sides which allows for additional campers (up to 20 people). In addition we offer 3 creek-side camp sites which have plenty of room for large groups; they are all situated on well drained, grassy open spaces beside the creek. In wet conditions you will need a 4WD to access these sites. Figtree Farm has an abundance of bird and animal life. Here, tranquillity reigns, save for the occasional serenade of our friendly neighbourhood donkeys and the odd rooster. If you wish to wander further afield, Wiangaree is 15 minutes away and Kyogle is a 30 minute drive south. For those who enjoy a game of tennis there is an all weather tennis court (with lights) nearby at Bundgeam Hall. Bajimba Eco Camp is part of our stunning family property nestled in the surrounds of Mt Bajimba in the Northern Tablelands of NSW, 40 minutes south east of Tenterfield. Historically known as a resting point for bullock teams hauling timber from the surrounding forests on their way to a saw mill in the lower valley, Bajimba is now home to Merv & Carey. We are just over 1080 metres above sea level, with 57 acres of eucalypt & grass tree forests, grass pastures, and a small (but mighty) organic farm. Accommodation options include "West View “situated at our highest elevation with incredible views from the deck, and "Bullock Camp" which can accommodate tents, caravans or motor homes. When making travel arrangements, note we are in NSW and therefore are 1 hour ahead of QLD during day light savings months. It is encouraged if possible that guests arrive before 6pm to ensure a smooth and stress free check in to camp. Being able to experience the sunset is all a part of your Bajimba stay! Amenities for both sites include an ablution block with hot shower and composting toilet, with steam sauna and wood-fired hot tub available by appointment. Please call at time of booking if hot tub and sauna facilities are required (especially for same-days bookings). Wood fired hot tubs require four hours to heat appropriately. Also note that all toiletries are provided to ensure that our critical farm ecosystem is maintained. Our two eco-friendly domes sit on a 120 acre property providing a unique experience with a sense of space and privacy that helps you disengage from the everyday. Access to water and solar power on site. There are 2 domes available for up to 6 guests, with each dome including its own bathroom. Each dome has a queen bed and a single. There is an an outdoor undercover space including a kitchenette area, BBQ, sink, fridge, freezer, kettle, microwave & cutlery/crockery. Please note there is no oven or cooktop, only a BBQ. There are two hammocks and outdoor lounges to spend some time enjoying the view and time together. For those looking for a bit of adventure there is plenty to do in the surrounding area. Local attractions include: Whiann Whiann Falls- swimming hole- (5 minutes) Nightcap National Park, including spectacular Minyon Falls (30 minutes) Rocky Creek Dam, which has walks and a platypus trail (10 minutes) Eltham Hotel (15 minutes) The Channon Tavern and monthly markets (10 minutes) Bangalow Markets (20 minutes) Important information: Linen not provided. Doona, sheets, pillow tea towels needed. PLEASE NOTE: This is a "glamping" experience so insects and nature is a part of the experience. The tents are set on a concrete slab which is regularly sprayed however insects will still be around as the tents are set in the middle of the paddock so please be mindful of this. This property uses Solar Power (not connected to the grid) so please be aware of energy usage. All lights and general appliances are low energy and remain suitable for use over an extended sunless/cloudy period. If you drain the solar you will lose power and hot water. Both domes have aircon. The air-con cannot be left on. They were installed so if you have been out exploring all day and return to find a very hot or cold dome it gives you the ability to modify the temperature quickly. Once the dome has been cooled down or heated up (in our experience this takes approximately 10-15 mins) you can switch it off and use the fans provided if the evening is warm. If you leave the aircon continually running or forget to turn it off and go out you will lose power and the power will not return until the solar has had a chance to recharge the next day. There are 2 portable fans inside the domes and a fan for outdoor use for hot days. To reduce the impact on hot days the domes have rooftop curtains that should remain closed along with the front window curtains to keep the tents cooler. Guests have access to the entire 120 acre property. There is a gate for access to the paddocks beyond the dome fencing. The gate needs to be closed immediately after entering and exiting to prevent cows entering the dome area and causing damage or exiting onto the main road. You can stroll along the road until you reach the bushland on the far end of the property. We do not recommend walking through long grass on the property without protective footwear as snakes are known to live in the hinterlands region. Please be aware the driveway to the domes is not sealed. It is a gravel driveway. In the rain it may be slippery. Parking at the top of the property is recommended for cars that are not suitable for gravel inclines.

This place was absolutely awesome! Plenty of space and beds for 2 Adults and 3 kids. We had great time having a splash in the creek and exploring the property. The Shed had all the cooking equipment we needed, power, fridge, hot shower, flushing outside toilet that was in great condition (no creepy crawlers to be seen). I highly recommend purchasing your firewood directly with you booking. For $20 we had heaps of firewood to last us the two nights we stayed. The hosts were very welcoming and accommodating. We will definitely be back and recommend you check this place out if you want a farm stay with some enjoyable comforts. Thanks for having us! Until next time ☺️

Aneta & Paul were wonderful hosts. They have fabulously set up this little gem, tucked away in the delightful rainforest. Everywhere you position yourself you can feel nature takeover your senses. The little touches from Aneta & Paul, like the freshly picked roses in vases, the beautifully lined pathway with endless colour (Impatiens) & the dimly lit fairy lights throughout, all add to the experience. Relax on the deck, take a stroll by the creek bed or try a refreshing dip in the dam, either way, you are immersed in nature!! The drive to/from this destination was picturesque, with the Springbrook National Park/Numimbah Valley views not disappointing. The locally made bread sold at the Chillingham farm produce store is highly recommended, not to mention the Crystal Creek Nursery & Cafe - just perfect! A peek of the regional township of Murwillumbah, 20 minutes from the treehouse, should also be on your "to do" list. We plan to be back :-)

Beautiful location in a private space. Plenty of cookware. Hot shower and toilet. Cosy lounge space and comfy bed. Fire pit outside and fire place indoors for the cooler seasons. Definitely going to stay again sometime.

This is our third time staying at the treehouse. We love the feeling of camping without all the effort. Just turn up with food and drink and off you go. The dog loves the large grass area to run and the kids enjoy making a fire. We had a swim at the local waterhole, only 5 minutes down the road. Beds are comfortable and kitchen has all you need. Thankyou Aneta and Paul for another relaxing stay.

Beth is the most welcoming host, she gave super clear instructions to make sure we could get to the property ok. The property wow! It’s very private, overlooking the river and is just gorgeous. The bath was such a brilliant touch! BBQ, shower, toilet, hot bath, fans, blankets, a fridge, kettle - whatever you need for your stay it is there! I really cannot recommend enough, beautiful views!

This was an epic stay with a cozy fire, everything you could want in the kitchen, a cool river crossing and cows to spend time staring at. Wished we booked more than one night. Everything was super clean and well cared for, only oversight on our behalf was that there wasn’t any reception for internet connection but we didn’t mind we spent the night playing board games by the fire

Where to go

The Tweed

Stretching for about 40 kilometres from Tweed Heads in the north down to Wooyung in the south, and west to the Border Ranges, The Tweed is a verdant coastal farming area dotted with seaside and hinterland campsites. Bask on empty beaches, admire the heritage architecture in tiny towns, tour the region’s farm gates, or take a cruise along the scenic Tweed River.

Brunswick Heads

This once-sleepy fishing town has become nearly as popular as its neighbour to the south, Byron Bay, in recent years. Brunswick Heads hugs the idyllic Brunswick River, popular for swimming, fishing, boating, kayaking, and stand-up paddleboarding. Sheltered by the southern break wall, Torakina Beach is particularly popular among families. Choose between a number of campgrounds and holiday parks by the riverside, many with cabins and sites for caravans and tents.

Byron Bay to Lennox Head

The legendary surf and wellness hub at Australia’s most easterly point is well equipped for campers, with holiday parks within walking distance of the town centre, campgrounds toward Suffolk Park, 10 minutes south of town, and more at Broken Head. Twenty minutes south of Byron Bay, the quieter coastal town of Lennox Head has holiday parks just steps from the beach and the popular Lake Ainsworth recreation area.

Byron Bay Hinterland

The lush hinterland region west of Byron Bay is dotted with historic villages and pockets of lush subtropical rainforest ripe for hiking and waterfall chasing. The main place to camp is the Rummery Park Campground in Nightcap National Park, with easy access to hiking trails and the spectacular Minyon Falls Lookout. Private campgrounds also dot the area between Byron and Mullumbimby, 30 minutes to the northwest.

Yamba and Iluka

Heading south from Lennox Head, you can camp at Ballina and Evans Head, but the most popular camping spot south of Byron is the Yamba region, on the southern fringe of the Northern Rivers. More than a dozen holiday parks sit between the coastal fishing town of Yamba, on the southern bank of the Clarence River, and Woody Head, in Bundjalung National Park to the north. Between the two lies Iluka, which sits on the northern side of the river mouth. Typical of the NSW North Coast, good surf spots can be found here.
