Serenity, forest, boulders and wildlife. Camping on a 127 acre (51 hectares) mixed farm made up of pastures, old orchards and 50% remnant forest and rock wilderness. Only 10 minutes drive to Stanthorpe. The western farm boundary sides with Broadwater State Forest, a broad expanse of public wild land managed by QNPS. Diverse wildlife include grey kangaroos, wallabies, echidnas, turtles, native frogs, brush tail possums and squirrel gliders. Wild birds include crimson and Eastern rosellas, king parrots, red-winged parrots, currawongs, koels, native ducks, cormorants, coots, bronze-winged pigeons, superb wrens, pardalotes, grey cuckoo-shrikes, firetail finches, white throated tree creepers and many many more. Campground features include piped dam water and stainless steel sink, wood BBQ, cast iron wood stove with oven, 2.5m counter top, fire pit with seating, outdoor pit toilet and shower stall with hook for a bucket shower. Instead of camping, Best Block Friendly Fruit Art Farm also offers lodging. Built to house teams of WWOOFERs (Willing Workers On Organic Farms). the strawbale construction bedroom, adobe laundry & toilet, and stonewall kitchen & shower makes for a convenient mountain holiday. Best Block Friendly Fruit Art Farm is in Applethorpe on the Granite Belt in SE Queensland, an easy drive to many boutique wineries, Girraween and Sundown National Parks. Breathe in. Deeply. It feels different, doesn’t it? It’s time to experience the crisp air, big sky and big flavours of the Granite Belt. Queensland’s premier country getaway destination, the Granite Belt is known for distinct seasons and regional flavours. The go-to for cosy winter getaways and wine by a roaring fireplace. But perfect in every season: cool fresh nights in summer's heat, changing leaves or vines glowing green in springtime. Dine at restaurants serving locally-sourced produce, or step into the delis and farm stores to grab locally made cheese, chutneys and artisan products for a DIY picnic in the vines or on the rocks. Thanks to the region’s elevation, the Granite Belt offers many Strange Bird wines: alternative drops you’ll be hard-pressed to find elsewhere in Australia. And you’re likely to leave the cellar door on a first-name basis with the whole crew.

Serenity on the rocks is a campground shaded amongst mature eucalypt and acacia trees on a gentle grassy granite rock strewn knoll. Guests have the whole site to themselves, with the exception of the farm's owners infrequently using the driveway and farm roads that go past the campsite. Guests have cooking facilities (wood-fired barbecue, cast-iron wood stove and oven, stainless steel sink, bench top) and non-potable dam water from a mains tap. Potable rainwater is available from a clearly labelled 20L drum. Firewood is provided, and kindling can be easily collected on site. A fire pit (drum) is surrounded by bench seating. Guests also have a private composting pit toilet block, and a private shower stall with a hook to hang a bucket shower. This campground is surrounded by open love-grass pasture, a very leaky dam and mature forest. The pastures are frequented by several dozen grey kangaroos and wallabies most early mornings and late afternoons. We love our wildlife, grey kangaroos, pretty face wallabies, swamp wallabies, antechinus mice, bearded dragons and many other lizards and snakes. Predatory destructive and uncontrollable dogs are not welcome. All pets must be kept on a leash during your stay. 1 pet per booking only. Please consult with host before booking your pet.

Strawbale was originally built as sleeping accommodation for WWOOFERs (Willing Workers On Organic Farms). The bedroom is built with straw bale construction, and the cabin is tucked into the eastern side of our farm barn. Toilet/laundry facilities are in a separate adobe mud brick building about 20m walk from the bedroom; and the kitchen/shower facilities are in a third building about 60m across the farm compound. Please see the photos of these different spaces. In the current configuration, the bedroom has two single beds and two sofa chairs. The room is designed with passive thermal heating through sunshine warming the mud-brick dividing wall during the day. PLEASE NOTE: the toilet/laundry is 20m walk in a second separate building and the kitchen/shower is 60m walk in a third separate building.

We honestly couldn’t have picked a better spot for our first ever camping trip. We camped for 6 days in the middle of a Applethorpe winter and it was the best decision. The days were beautiful, the nights were cold enough to really enjoy the fire, and the wood-fired stove was hands down the highlight. I cooked pies and sausage rolls first, then later did a pork belly roast. There’s something pretty special about cooking in a cast iron wood fired stove for the family. I kept imagining that I was somewhere in the 1800’s living as the wife of a gold miner. 🤣 The property itself is gorgeous. There are gorgeous handmade buildings throughout the property that are deserving of a Grand Designs episode contrasted with the property being its own mini Girraween of boulder clusters to explore. We spent ages climbing over the granite boulders and every morning and evening there were kangaroos wandering through. It was so peaceful and exactly what we needed to escape the busyness of life. Philipp and Margaret were lovely hosts. Friendly, welcoming and happy to have a chat, but they also gave us plenty of space to enjoy the property. We came as complete camping beginners and left wondering why we hadn’t done it sooner. We’ll definitely be back. Thanks for sharing such a beautiful place with us!

Strawbale
Philipp was such a genuine soul and made our two-night stay in the Strawbale with my dad an absolute treat. I had very specific requirements when booking. I wanted somewhere peaceful where we didn't feel like we were staying in a crowded caravan park with people on top of us, and this was exactly that. I was there to spend some quiet time grieving the loss of my mum, and Philipp's kindness, warmth and genuine hospitality made a difficult time that little bit easier. He was incredibly friendly, accommodating and nothing felt like too much trouble. The Strawbale was beautifully warm despite the freezing temperatures outside, and everything exceeded our expectations. Arriving to find Philipp had already lit the fire on the patio was such a thoughtful touch and the perfect welcome. We genuinely felt cared for throughout our stay. If you're looking for peace, quiet and a host who truly cares about his guests, I can't recommend this place highly enough. Thank you, Philipp, for making our stay so memorable.

Philipp and Margret were absolutely amazing Hosts and could not have done more to add to the stay . The space was incredibly well maintained . We had a fantastic night around the camp fire really enjoyed the serenity. Thoroughly recommend to anyone looking for a memorable stay and while we stayed in the tent camping were fortunate enough to see the lodging areas that we absolutely beautiful and unique. Can’t thank Philipp and Margaret enough .

We absolutely loved our stay! The site was spacious, quiet, and perfectly private. Philipp was an incredibly attentive host, providing prompt communication throughout. Highly recommended for a relaxing camping getaway!

Stayed at Serenity on the Rocks and it delivered exactly what I was after. The standout was the privacy and genuine peace and quiet—perfect place to switch off and relax. The site itself was clean, well maintained, and thoughtfully set up, with a few extra touches that made it easy to settle in and enjoy time around the fire. The fire pit setup was great and added to the overall experience. Communication with Philipp K. was spot on—responsive, clear, and accurate with everything as described. No negatives from this stay. I’d definitely return for another quiet and relaxing getaway and would recommend it to anyone looking for a peaceful spot.
