Bernard and Susan are custodians of the farm, primarily using the land for poultry (egg), pig, and goat farming. They are transitioning to an off-grid and eco-friendly lifestyle for their retirement.
The Hatch Farm is home to many animals, most of whom are rescues - including border collies, cavalier king charles spaniels, chickens, ducks, pigs, sheep, goats, miniature horses, cows, cats, rabbits, and guinea pigs. There is plenty to do and see around the farm from complete relaxation, interacting with the friendly animals (there is usually a variety of babies to cuddle!), to casting a line or launching your boat from the rustic boat ramp. Please note that all animal interactions are self-led (including our animal nursery), and children must be supervised by their parents/carers. During NSW School Holidays, host led animal interactions will be available at designated times.

The Hastings is still tidal at our place so the access and flow varies throughout the day - we generally take our littlest kids down at low tide. Swim, fish or explore our hiking trails though the old growth riparian vegetation along winding creeks. If you are into birds you will see plenty here - in the last 12 months we have counted nearly 100 different species on our property!

Retaining the peace and tranquillity of our property is important to us and why the number of sites and campers is limited. Although there are designated camping spots we're happy to be flexible if you arrive and would like to relocate within our extensive 'camping area' ...depending on weather conditions and respecting the personal space of other campers.
We have livestock (currently cattle) running throughout the property.
Dogs are welcome if they remain well controlled, tethered or on a leash - this is for the safety of your pet as well as the livestock and wildlife.
You will see and hear all kinds of wildlife, particularly morning and evening when they are most active.
There are no amenities, rubbish or water facilities so come prepared, take what you brought and leave it as you found it. There is one only port-a-loo with pop-up-tent available for hire if required.
You are welcome to take a walk or pushbike and enjoy the peace and nature but please no driving of vehicles or use of motorcycles or quads.
PLEASE NOTE: Fire restrictions from September 1st and usually continue during Summer. Fire Permits are not required for fires for the purpose of cooking food, provided that:
1. the fire is in a permanently constructed fireplace. (or fire pit)

There is plenty to do and see around the farm from complete relaxation, interacting with the friendly animals (there is usually a variety of babies to cuddle!), to casting a line or launching your boat from the rustic boat ramp. Retaining the peace and tranquillity of our property is important to us and why the number of sites and campers is limited. Although there are designated camping spots we're happy to be flexible if you arrive and would like to relocate within our extensive 'camping area' ...depending on weather conditions and respecting the personal space of other campers.
We have livestock (currently cattle) running throughout the property.
Dogs are welcome if they remain well controlled, tethered or on a leash - this is for the safety of your pet as well as the livestock and wildlife.
You will see and hear all kinds of wildlife, particularly morning and evening when they are most active.
There are no amenities, rubbish or water facilities so come prepared, take what you brought and leave it as you found it. There is one only port-a-loo with pop-up-tent available for hire if required.
You are welcome to take a walk or pushbike and enjoy the peace and nature but please no driving of vehicles or use of motorcycles or quads.
PLEASE NOTE: Fire restrictions from September 1st and usually continue during Summer. Fire Permits are not required for fires for the purpose of cooking food, provided that:

Great location near Hat Head and South West Rocks
This lovely 4 acre camping spot is situated at Kinchela on the tidal Kinchela Creek which runs directly into the mighty Macleay river.
Please note that in very wet weather , being riverside camping, the sites can be unsuitable for caravans and camper vans . Please enquire by message with us to verify current conditions. We endeavour to accomodate you but cannot predict the weather. Tent sites usually okay at any time(remember you will need to have your own toilet facilities) .
You can fish , kayak, paddle board, bring the tinny or just relax and enjoy the water view and surrounding farmland.
A few shade trees and quiet surroundings makes this the perfect spot for your next getaway.
Fire pits available at each site with initial load of wood to get you started.
Conveniently located only a 5 minute drive to Gladstone shops and hotel.
There is a tap and hose (town water) on site. NOTE This is not available for vehicle washing, cleaning fish or filling large tanks. No emptying /cleaning of portable toilets please.
PLEASE NOTE Campers must be equipped with their own toilet facilities , absolutely no exceptions. People abusing this rule will be asked to leave. We like our riverbank to be pristine and enjoyable for everyone. Thank you.

We had a great stopover at Jali. So so peaceful. Mick and Ann were very social and accommodating. The pool & happy hour drinks at their bar were great. A spot of fishing off the bank was also good. Highly recommend.

Little Rawdon Island Camp is a beautiful riverside gem, perfect for a peaceful getaway. I stayed at Site 4, which was quiet and spacious, allowing for a relaxing camp fire setup. The location excels for fishing, and host Scott generously offered guidance on catching mud crabs. Access via 2WD was straightforward and hassle-free. Highly recommended for nature lovers seeking serenity and outdoor activities.

Where to begin - the facilities are awesome they feel almost brand new. The site is close enough to Port Macquarie it makes nipping in and out easy whilst still having the feeling of being off the grid. We were lucky enough to have the place to ourselves but even if the other site had been booked it still would have been nice. Chrissie is a massive legend and we will definitely be back. And last but not least Chrissie is lucky she wasn’t missing a dog when we left because we fell completely in love with Mr Ray (and the others) another gorgeous Kelpie just like ours. Honestly we had the best time . Thank you so so much x

Always a great stay. Unfortunately the weather and the fish weren’t overly friendly this time but we love our stay there. Always kept tidy. Great for a campfire on Site 1 no matter what the weather is thanks to the camp kitchen. Thanks Scott for keeping it all neat and tidy

We have a lovely time! Louise and Geoff were very kind and helpful. Kids loved the animals. Pool was clean. Geoff was very helpful with fishing. Stayed 4 nights and rode our bikes into town one day too! Would def stay again.

We had an amazing stay at The Hatch and couldn’t recommend it more. Susan and Bernard were incredibly friendly and welcoming hosts, which made us feel right at home from the moment we arrived.
The campsites are spacious and well laid out, with large shelters and easy access to the river. Toilets and showers were spotless and clearly very well maintained. The setting is wonderfully relaxing and quiet—perfect for switching off and enjoying nature.
For families, the animal nursery and the abundance of playground equipment would be a real highlight. We also loved the free kayaks, which were fantastic for exploring the river, and there are plenty of great spots for fishing too.
Overall, it was a fantastic experience, and we will definitely be coming back.

The Grove was a beautiful and well situated campsite for a trip with my partner and our dog. The trees were shady (essential for hot weekend) and there were many birds, so the feel was very natural although you camp close to the working farm facilities. The owners and caretakers are around, friendly and not intrusive.
The shower and toilet are a convenient short walk from camp & kept clean. A daily shower was blissful in the heat. We had plenty of firewood to cook with & my partner loved chopping the big logs provided.
The resident dog Simba loves to come and say hi. We enjoyed this mostly, and he played well with our dog. We had to put in a bigger boundary with him when he started eating my dog’s food, & was persistent in asking for games when we were relaxing. He did listen to commands when we became firmer & spent a bit less time with us.
There are only two campsites and this suited us as we were looking for privacy and connection while we were away from our busy lives. One night a group came to camp right next to us in a spot we hadn’t seen as designated for camping. This felt less peaceful and private. I would suggest if you are after privacy, to confirm what spaces will be used.
Overall a really wonderful experience & my dog was relaxed and often off leash. Rod gave information on local swimming holes, which are a short drive away & beautiful. The location is within 30/45mins to towns for experiences and supplies. We had an excellent stay & totally recommend.

Perfect quiet grassy spot overlooking the river. Enough shade in the heat but with plenty of sun for solar, while the breeze through the trees was beautiful. Very private with just a couple of sites. Offers swimming and fishing or just a chillax break. Our favourite local Hipcamp so far! Will be back for sure.
