You will not hear traffic, you will not see headlights. Pure peace and tranquility for you to relax, chill and enjoy.
The sites are surrounded by rugged mountainous bush land with views, trails, cliffs, 3 creeks to explore and includes a private lake ‘Lake Arid’ with its own island, ‘Dead Dog Island’. Swim, paddle, fish, play.
Metres away is another private swimming hole ‘Pants Off Pond’ stocked with Silver Perch and Bass.
So whether you indulge in pants off, or leave them on and just fish it’s up to you.
Explore a little further and you’ll find ‘The Abyss’ a former micro quarry, 9m deep waterhole.
The creeks have waterfalls, swimming holes, pure and clean, though are a rugged unmarked hike.
The sites are site only. You’ll need to take care of your waste, water, rubbish and power. Generator is ok, we’re out of earshot, so is everyone else.
Each site has a picnic table and a fire pit and an abundance of ‘cut your own’ firewood upon the ground.
Remember, fires this time of year are for ‘cooking only’, so be sure to bring those marshmallows…
Pet Friendly, 4WD friendly with a bunch of serious challenges too… Horse friendly too, yep, there’s a yard to keep them too, up by the house.
Accessible by 2WD with sites with enough space for any size caravan or motor home.

Our extensive and carefully-maintained pastures offer a wide selection of peaceful, private campsites. There are also numerous small stands of natural vegetation providing shade and shelter.
In close proximity to us are shopping centres, surfing beaches and areas of outstanding natural beauty.
We operate as a cottage industry, processing alpaca fleece & manufacturing products from it. We regularly conduct tours & maintain a small farm shop.
We also offer a full range of home-cooked meals.

If the ferry isn't for you, you can drive to Ballina via Wardell on River Drive.
The bungalow is located approx. 25m from the main residence, and the campsite is located approx. 300m from the main residence tucked away in the paddocks and forest. We are onsite and available if needed.

Harper Farms is a fourth generation, family owned cattle property out of the small township of Cangai; just 50 minutes west of Grafton. Located along the Mann River, just one kilometre off the Gwydir Highway, campers will find easy access to our riverfront site.
The property is bordered by the Dandahra Creek and the Mann River, and boasts a variety of native bird and wildlife; peacocks, platypus, ducks and the occasional pelican to name a few. The Mann River is open to fishing November - July; and is a local favourite as a kayaking, canoeing, paddle boarding and swimming destination.
Beef cattle and stock horses have been run continuously on the property since the early 1900s, and our friendly horses and cows will often pay a visit to the campsite. Along with our working dogs, we also run a small breeding kennel of Golden Retrievers and Border Collies. Dogs are always welcome on the farm, and we simply ask that camp visitors keep them under their control during their stay.
A small shop with basic amenities (groceries, camp supplies, fishing bait, fuel) is located at Jackadgery; a 15 minutes drive east on the Gwydir Highway. To the west of Harper Farms lies the Gibraltar Range which hosts Washpool National Park with walking trails, waterfalls, rainforest and swimming areas.
Away from the city lights, the Cangai area offers exceptional stargazing and is popular with keen astronomers and photographers.
Our property currently hosts one large campsite; ideal for family and large group gatherings. Booking the site includes complete privacy for your group whether large or small.

Now for a quick reality check. We’re not the Hilton. In fact, we don’t provide any amenities at all. No toilets, no showers, no bins. Think of The Good Life as a safe, private slice of bush that feels like the middle of nowhere, because it pretty much is. You’ll need to be fully self-contained and take everything you bring in back out with you. Leave only footprints and good memories.
What you do with your time is entirely up to you. Park yourself in a camp chair with a book, wander the farm, or lace up your boots and explore around 70 acres of bush tracks. When night falls, the stars put on a serious show and the silence is so complete you can actually hear yourself think.
There’s no phone service and no Wi-Fi. Consider it a feature, not a bug. It’s the perfect excuse to ignore your emails.

Our property is nestled between state forests and nature reserves, near the village of Nymboida which is approx. 44km southwest of Grafton. You will find a variety of bird life and by night our marsupials. Bandicoots, possums and if you have a keen eye, owls.
With 1.5km of creek frontage, you can explore away, fish (catch and release) in the waterhole, or go for a walk along one of the valleys. Situated on 650 acres in hill country. You will certainly find something for your relaxing getaway.
Pitch your tent in a variety of places, we have two areas available that offer complete privacy from other campers. Mill Flat (the location of the steam mill that was built when the property was a logging property) is located on around 1 acre of mostly flat grass land with direct access to our creek.
Nearby, Fruit Orchard Hill is the location of the original home before the fires, the outlook from here is of the sheer mountain range of the neighbouring National Park. This camping area is elevated and mostly on a slope.
Our third site is not so private but is the most central and conveniently located for exploring the creek and gaining access with big campervans.
Please know that the swimming hole is always full, and the creek is permanent not seasonal, but low rainful can cause it to stop flowing in some spots occasionally.
If staying longer you can go for a white water kayak in the Nymboida River only 15 min away or head the other way to discover endless National Parks that stretch from the property to Dorrigo.
We welcome self-contained campers who bring their own camping toilet/shower and water. You must have your own amenities.
Well behaved dogs are most welcome to join you. Although we are pet friendly, please be aware and courteous to other campers. If your pet needs to be tied up please do so.
We recommend 4WDs to access the campsite. Some places can be accessed by 2WD. Caravan drivers need to be competent for hilly terrain and tight access, some roads are cut into steep ground and have very little give. However Site 1 is easy access for caravans. If unsure about your vehicle please message us.

Each site has a picnic table and a fire pit and an abundance of ‘cut your own’ firewood upon the ground.
Remember, fires this time of year are for ‘cooking only’, so be sure to bring those marshmallows…

If the ferry isn't for you, you can drive to Ballina via Wardell on River Drive.
The bungalow is located approx. 25m from the main residence, and the campsite is located approx. 300m from the main residence tucked away in the paddocks and forest. We are onsite and available if needed.

Harper Farms is a fourth generation, family owned cattle property out of the small township of Cangai; just 50 minutes west of Grafton. Located along the Mann River, just one kilometre off the Gwydir Highway, campers will find easy access to our riverfront site.
The property is bordered by the Dandahra Creek and the Mann River, and boasts a variety of native bird and wildlife; peacocks, platypus, ducks and the occasional pelican to name a few. The Mann River is open to fishing November - July; and is a local favourite as a kayaking, canoeing, paddle boarding and swimming destination.
Beef cattle and stock horses have been run continuously on the property since the early 1900s, and our friendly horses and cows will often pay a visit to the campsite. Along with our working dogs, we also run a small breeding kennel of Golden Retrievers and Border Collies. Dogs are always welcome on the farm, and we simply ask that camp visitors keep them under their control during their stay.
A small shop with basic amenities (groceries, camp supplies, fishing bait, fuel) is located at Jackadgery; a 15 minutes drive east on the Gwydir Highway. To the west of Harper Farms lies the Gibraltar Range which hosts Washpool National Park with walking trails, waterfalls, rainforest and swimming areas.
Away from the city lights, the Cangai area offers exceptional stargazing and is popular with keen astronomers and photographers.

You will come here to enjoy the beauty and tranquility of Black Mountain' on the banks of the `Mighty Nymbo’, bordering Nymboida River and Nymboi-Binderay National Park on Gumbainggir country.
Visitors enjoy: Swimming in the pristine river; boating; walking tracks through diverse terrain; starry night skies; campfires, or just relaxing for days. Our guests recommend staying at least two nights to soak up the atmosphere and explore the area.
Choose from the 'Ant Shack' or four adjacent campsites with easy access and views to the Nymboida River. Shared facilities include a hot shower and composting toilets.
This is a registered conservation property We can’t accommodate domestic animals nor allow fishing (not even catch and release) because we protect our wildlife and the endangered Eastern Cod.
Black Mountain is remote but only 60 kilometres from Grafton or Coffs (via back way).
Alastair and I have shared the property for more than 30 years and consider ourselves custodians of this precious place. All proceeds from Airbnb and Hipcamp are invested in the continuing conservation of Black Mountain.

Our property is nestled between state forests and nature reserves, near the village of Nymboida which is approx. 44km southwest of Grafton. You will find a variety of bird life and by night our marsupials. Bandicoots, possums and if you have a keen eye, owls.
With 1.5km of creek frontage, you can explore away, fish (catch and release) in the waterhole, or go for a walk along one of the valleys. Situated on 650 acres in hill country. You will certainly find something for your relaxing getaway.
Pitch your tent in a variety of places, we have two areas available that offer complete privacy from other campers. Mill Flat (the location of the steam mill that was built when the property was a logging property) is located on around 1 acre of mostly flat grass land with direct access to our creek.
Nearby, Fruit Orchard Hill is the location of the original home before the fires, the outlook from here is of the sheer mountain range of the neighbouring National Park. This camping area is elevated and mostly on a slope.
Our third site is not so private but is the most central and conveniently located for exploring the creek and gaining access with big campervans.
Please know that the swimming hole is always full, and the creek is permanent not seasonal, but low rainful can cause it to stop flowing in some spots occasionally.
If staying longer you can go for a white water kayak in the Nymboida River only 15 min away or head the other way to discover endless National Parks that stretch from the property to Dorrigo.
We welcome self-contained campers who bring their own camping toilet/shower and water. You must have your own amenities.
Well behaved dogs are most welcome to join you. Although we are pet friendly, please be aware and courteous to other campers. If your pet needs to be tied up please do so.
We recommend 4WDs to access the campsite. Some places can be accessed by 2WD. Caravan drivers need to be competent for hilly terrain and tight access, some roads are cut into steep ground and have very little give. However Site 1 is easy access for caravans. If unsure about your vehicle please message us.

The Bungawalbin Wildlife reserve is 100 acres of natural wetlands that backs onto the Bungawalbin Creek. I have owned the property for 35 years and have spent that time re-establishing the diversity on the property. over the years the property had been logged mercilessly and used for cattle production. It was also subject to the devastating bushfires of 2019. The Bungawalbin wetlands is home to a vast selection of wildlife and I have created a purpose built waterbird sanctuary to attract and provide habitat to the many species of waterbirds that frequent the property.I know you will enjoy your stay at the Bungawalbin Wildlife Reserve.

The camping and property was amazing, Stevey was so nice and friendly. The area is beautiful, the horses are so friendly and cute, (don’t forget your carrots they love a snack). The beach is about a 600m walk but is amazing and quiet, and can hear it through out the night. The wildlife was amazing and a wonderful way to connect with nature and disconnect. Would recommend to anyone, the ferry can be a bit of a wait some times but it is quicker. The toilet was clean and did not smell, and Stevey even got us a fire pit to use. Amazing place would return.

Merryl's place provides a peaceful camping spot close to the river for swimming and canoeing . There are also some walking tracks on the property. Alistair was really helpful and friendly. People should be aware that the descent down to the camping area is very steep - 4wd highly recommended , including for any camper trailers

Harper Farm Hipcamp is absolutely beautiful!
Right on the river, the water is clear and clean, delightful on a warm day.
Our hosts were very considerate, the toilet was spotless and convenient to our camp.

What a great camp site! The location is incredible. We loved that there is only a large single site. This gave us the opportunity to spread out, and not worry about making noise that could inconvenience others. The site itself has lush thick grass, a toilet, running water (not drinkable) and bins. Literally ticking every box. A short walk to a beautiful beach and access to a massive swimming pool. Beauty all around us with horses and nature. Our children had the best time and so did we! What more could you ask for?

Thank you Stevey & Nick for sharing your amazing property. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Sugar Beach Ranch. Lovely drive by the river to get to its beautiful location! We love that there is only 1 site! It felt so good to be surrounded by the beautiful horses. The property is beachfront, I thought the site was closer to the beach but in saying that it, it was only a short walk from the campsite & it was very windy that wkend so good to be protected at our site. It wasn’t swimmable on our visit possibly due to recent inclement weather. The amazing pool more than made up for that anyway! It is on the pricey side for a campsite but we justified it for a special occasion plus only 1 site, close to the beach & has a pool! There is good phone reception. Toilet on site (not that we used it as had our own)! The property is about half an hour from Ballina itself unless taking the ferry back & forth (for a fee). Hope to be back again one day!

We had such a great stay here. The location is amazing with access to both the beach and the land so you really get the best of both worlds. It felt very private and peaceful, which we loved. Having a toilet and bins available was a great bonus and made the stay even more comfortable. The horses were also great to have around they were so friendly and really added to the whole atmosphere. Would definitely recommend!
