I moved here from Sydney in 1987. In that time I have seen many changes. I have come to love the Bungawalbin and have formed a very real bond with the whole area and have learnt so much in the journey. Like most parts of the East Coast the land has been badly managed since European invasion in the way of logging, grazing, farming and burning practices that have degraded the diversity of what was once possibly the most diverse part of Australia. The bush is resilient but there is a limit to what it can withstand and I fear this precious wetlands is disappearing fast. 5 years ago bushfires devastated the whole forest leaving very little undamaged and it is still struggling to recover. Then catastrophic flooding in 2022 destroyed the homestead. The property offers spacious, private campsites in a natural and tranquil setting. Bush walking and birdwatching are a must, or just relaxing by the billabong may reward you with a wildlife encounter. I really enjoyed staying at this Hipcamp It was my first ever time doing a solo camping adventure All the instructions on how to get there were very clear and after I set up in a great location Tom came around and checked up on. Everybody made sure everything was fine and although the weather wasn’t great I had a wonderfully peaceful night and was woken up in the morning of the resident Cows. I wished I had a booked an extra night, but I definitely will be back

Absolutely breathtaking! We stayed at this hidden gem of a camping spot and it was truly magical. Being right on a creek created the perfect ambiance and our dog loved going in and out all afternoon. Waking up to friendly cows grazing around us was the highlight. Super peaceful and utterly serene - we'd highly recommend this spot to anyone. 5 stars isn't enough!

Our dog had lots of fun. Trees provided shade from the sun. The cows went home when the day was done. In terms of towns and beaches, Pottsville was a close one. Campsites were evenly spaced. Very relaxing, the day was slow paced. So many stars in the aerospace. We spent so many hours at the fireplace (2pm until 12am). The toilets were as clean as could be. Our time there was care-free. Rolling hills as far as we could see. Time so fun we forgot about tv. A bit scary at night… bourgeoisie?

The camp ground is perfect. Just enough amenities to make camping comfortable, shed, fridge, fan, radio, tv, some tables and chairs, undercover area, toilets and shower. Yet rustic enough to still feel like you are camping. Set out so well with area for tents, a camp fire set up and such a beautiful property filled with a chorus of birds, kangaroos and koalas. Cameron was super helpful and went to a great deal of effort to accommodate the needs of our group and the program we were running with our young people and we really appreciated it. I’m pretty sure that most of the staff were thinking about returning with their families it’s such a wonderful spot.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ My partner and I stayed at the Waterfall Strangler Fig site and absolutely loved it. The setting is stunning — an ancient fig tree wrapped around the rock face with a waterfall nearby and rainforest all around. It’s peaceful, private, and the perfect place to unwind. The site was spacious and spotless, with a great fire pit and clean amenities. The hosts were friendly and respectful, and you can tell they really care about keeping the retreat quiet and natural. We left feeling completely relaxed and already can’t wait to come back!

Beautiful camping close to lake, nicely spaced, with own firepit and unique shower. Also can walk barefoot on the beautiful grass. Thank you for a lovely stay

Very pleasant stay away from everything and still close to the M1, so easy to access. Plenty space for each camper on a huge property. Perfect with kids with a lot of things to explore + cows. A bit expensive for basic amenities but that was a last minute booking on a busy weekend so, fair I guess.

Weekend Trip to Tallebudgera Veg Sanctuary.

A very peaceful place to camp, has a creek & beautiful peacocks. We feel safe and very relaxed and hope to come back again when we can. Clean & spacious bathrooms with hot water & purified water to use.
