Sites are large with varying distance between each to enable you to enjoy the camping experience in your own space. Both paddock sites and limited river spots are available. If planning to stay with friends and you wish to share a site only 1 booking is required, the sites are large, some up to 30m x 30m. IMPORTANT: Pets are allowed on a case-by-case basis, with conditions, and a $20 fee applies. Please check with Hosts before booking. Once approved, please add the Pets Extra when booking. (Saturday night 2-night minimum) There is no mobile reception or internet access, therefore, providing a true off-grid retreat. Self-sufficient campers are preferred. Weekend Trip to "DeView" Colo River Valley Camping

We really enjoyed our stay at De View. Yarra was very on the ball with directions. Came to greet us when we arrived. The amenities were clean and nicely presented. The camping areas were thoughtfully landscaped and well spread out. The river was perfect for my 7yo and 11yo. And (it was early summer) there was a total lack of mosquitoes! 😁.

Lovely campsite just an hour from Sydney — perfect for a quick getaway and a chance to reconnect with nature. Communication with the host was super easy, and access to the site was seamless. We even arrived to find an envelope with our name pegged at the gate, which was such a thoughtful touch.

Yara was exceptionally welcoming; she greeted me upon arrival and was eager to engage in conversation about my stay. The amenities were impeccably clean and well-maintained, with easy accessibility that enhanced my overall experience.

Such a great experience staying at De View. Great communication by Yara the host, excellent and clean facilities and a beautiful spot on the Colo River. The kids loved swimming up and down the river and the adults had a super relaxing time to catch up. 100% recommended and we will be back

We had a very lovely stay at Turon Gates. The place was very clean and well taken cared off. The toilets and showers are very convenient and clean. There’s a couple of sink that can be used to clean utensils with potable water. Wildlife’s great! The horses came around to greet everyone. We spotted kangaroos, sheep, kookaburras and goats. The river’s clean and a great place to have a swim. We surely will be back

Beautiful spot to camp with some lovely shady areas. Wasn't very deep to swim in where the camping is, had to drive a bit down the road but apart from that we loved our stay there and would definitely return

Review is a lovely campsite with spacious sites and functional amenities. The Colo River is a treasure. Yarra is exceptionally efficient with great communication and really gives that personal touch. Highly recommended. I also look forward to visiting their other sister site called Whispering Gums.

The amenities were clean hot water showers. Some flat spots,plenty of power and water hook ups. The caretakers were friendly,and it was quite overnight. Would definitely stay again

Great spot! Lovely owners, awesome location variety of camping spots with shade of sun clean amenities. There were many families with kids and pets. Kids could play on swings or in water. Entry to the river was easy and water was beautiful warm over super clean and safe for kids in any ages. Hardly recommend ;)

We had a great time at Canoelands. Beautiful scenery, Debbie was very accommodating and we had a peaceful spot away from other campers. Felt like you had the place to yourself for the most part! Sound does travel throughout the valley and we could hear campers at the other site but it was not a big deal.

We booked the entire beach site for our family gathering. It was a brilliant weekend. Vanessa was very accommodating and wonderful to deal with. The campsite was beautiful and clean. The kids (big and little) had so much fun exploring the river. Loved sitting with a coffee in the morning enjoying the rich bird life. Saw a big old wombat and enjoyed watching the horses playing in the river on their daily visit. Very peaceful and relaxing. Looking forward to our next visit.

Where to go

The Blue Mountains

Katoomba is the de facto gateway to the Blue Mountains, and while many of the region's top attractions are located in or around town, there's plenty more to visit in the surrounding region. Highlights include the Jenolan Caves, about an hour away, and the Blue Mountains Botanic Gardens, about a 45-minute drive from Katoomba via Mount Victoria.

The Sydney Area

Sydney is the nearest major city to Katoomba and offers all the trappings of a cosmopolitan city plus easy access to loads of fantastic beaches. While much of the Sydney area is decidedly urban, there are plenty of pristine natural areas within a short jaunt from town, including Royal National Park to the south and Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park just north of the metropolitan area.

Eusdale Nature Reserve

Spread out over 1,200 hectares, just north of Fish River, Eusdale Nature Reserve near Katoomba is an ideal spot to go for a hike, particularly if you're trying to get away from crowds. A 10-kilometre trail runs through the reserve and gets relatively few hikers, meaning you may very well get the whole place to yourself.

When to go

The best time to visit Katoomba and the surrounding Blue Mountains region is during the spring, when temperatures are pleasantly warm but rainfall hasn't peaked. Summer gets a bit of rain, which can put a literal damper on outdoor fun, and while winters are relatively drier, they can be cool and snowy. If you do come in winter, try to plan your visit to coincide with the annual Winter Magic Festival to see the entire town transformed into an outdoor performance venue.
