Binghi Station is designed for the 4x4 enthusiasts. In other words we strongly recommend access by 4WD only as the entry 6klm driveway is very rugged and bumpy in most places due to heavy rain fall past 12 months. Please ask for more details if necessary should you have any concerns based on your equipment. Its an ongoing maintenance. Its the 4x4 adventure. We would rather talk it down than up:-) Currently we do not recommend SUV AWD type cars due to there lower profile and vulnerability to bumps and ruts. It is doable many do it all however about driver confidence and add another upto 2hours to trip :-) We recommend parking up the top driveway and having a preplanned lift down. BE WARNED The driveway and some tracks are rough suited for 4x4 adventure enthusiasts that like to use there pride and joy offroad gear for what its intended. ps One thing we can say you will never get bogged on our driveway no matter the rain fall as its very compacted despite its authentic rough character. The Secret Gorge site is suited to tents, camper trailers and smaller length caravans. All our other site locations are suited to off-road 4WD caravans and camper trailers. The Timbarra or Rocky River is an area of great beauty southeast of Tenterfield with soaring mountains cradling the river flats and undulating hills below and is a renowned cattle breeding region. The Petrie family have been in Tenterfield since 1860 and have owned properties in the valley for over 100 years. Tim’s great-grandfather was known as Rocky Jack because of his extensive holdings. Cattle are still walked up to the Timbarra Plateau property from the river properties ‘Man From Snowy River’ style. The Plateau can be seen rising above the valley to the north from the confluence of Demon Creek and the Timbarra/Rocky River. These flow along the Demon Fault which is clearly visible on a satellite map. The 3 valley properties ‘Corner Camp’, ‘Boundary’ and ‘’Pavels’ combined with ‘Timbarra Plateau’ total over 25000 acres. The whole valley was part of 2 earlier large selections averaging 100000 acres which gradually became broken up in the late 1800s/early 1990s. There is a proud timber history in the valley and the surrounding forested mountains with large sections of State Forest now transferred to Washpool National Park which abuts both the eastern and western boundaries of ‘Boundary’ (which takes its name from Boundary Creek). The National Park and Forestland State Forest can be accessed to the west via the Billirimba Fire Trail. The eastern section of Washpool stretches across to the Clarence River, the largest eastern river in NSW. Washpool is where the Cedar King went missing and was never located. The Timbarra/Rocky River flows into the Clarence at Tabulam and then on to Grafton and out to sea at Yamba. The headwaters of the Rocky are all the way south to the Glen Innes Grafton road so the river can rise quickly if there is a downpour upstream. Interestingly when the Chinese gold miners left the Timbarra Plateau they came down with rickshaws into the Timbarra Valley then scaled the mountains to the west, near Boundary Creek, looking for their next gold diggings towards Glen Innes. The Boundary campsites at Boundary Riverside, The Cockatoo, The China Wall, and the Caves are all suitable for caravans, RVs, Camping trailers, tents and swags as is Timbarra Plateau. Corner Camp and Pavels are suitable for camping trailers, tents and swags. Boundary campsites access are all unaffected if the river rises however we will not take bookings at Corner Camp or Pavels in the likelihood of the river rising as we are committed to safety and avoiding inconvenience for guests. The Rocky is a very special place and we have campers who first came as children and are now bringing their grandchildren. We expect our guests to treat the area respectfully, and only leave footprints and tyre tracks. The valley provides wonderful scenery and settings for bushwalking, birdwatching, photography, painting, bicycle riding, swimming, kayaking, paddle boarding and canoeing, or just kicking back relaxing by the river, listening to the soothing sounds of the water, birds, and the turtles and platypus splashing, or being amazed at the mirror like images on the waters surface on a still day or the flickering light of a campfire at night and the stars above.

Harper Farms is a fourth generation, family owned cattle property out of the small township of Cangai; just 50 minutes west of Grafton. Located along the Mann River, just one kilometre off the Gwydir Highway, campers will find easy access to our riverfront site. The property is bordered by the Dandahra Creek and the Mann River, and boasts a variety of native bird and wildlife; peacocks, platypus, ducks and the occasional pelican to name a few. The Mann River is open to fishing November - July; and is a local favourite as a kayaking, canoeing, paddle boarding and swimming destination. Beef cattle and stock horses have been run continuously on the property since the early 1900s, and our friendly horses and cows will often pay a visit to the campsite. Along with our working dogs, we also run a small breeding kennel of Golden Retrievers and Border Collies. Dogs are always welcome on the farm, and we simply ask that camp visitors keep them under their control during their stay. A small shop with basic amenities (groceries, camp supplies, fishing bait, fuel) is located at Jackadgery; a 15 minutes drive east on the Gwydir Highway. Redbank has many beautiful places and things to see, including two natural gullies full of native birds and wildlife, native woodlands, four beautiful dams and wild fallow deer. Redbank also has about 140ha set aside under Biodiversity Conservation Trust. This is a "no drive" area but always open to walking. There is a map available to show where everything on the property is located. Redbank features diverse terrain, from secluded forests and woodlands to open undulating paddocks with excellent views and sunsets. A campfire is allowed, however it needs to be kept at a reasonable size, especially during fire restriction periods. Please keep the fire within the allocated fireplace provided. At times we provide guests with firewood when we are able, but they are permitted to use nearby timber collected themselves. We have multiple campsites available, however we realise that you may want to be independent and camp in a unique place! We understand this, however we will direct you to a spot which best suits the campers' and their vehicle type, as some of our tracks are 4x4 only. We limit numbers of groups to the number of campsites available. In this way, we protect the environment and wildlife. We will be here to help you decide on the best campsite on arrival. There is some access to water (not necessarily drinking), but you will need to bring your own shower. There are no rubbish facilities or showers and limited access to toilet facilities. Pets are welcome but must be kept under your control at all times as we have cattle on the property. We have a friendly Maremma guardian dog who can turn up unannounced. He will most probably lick you to death.

Camp Site One is currently only accessible on foot or by horse. However, over half the climb can be done by 4WD. The second half of the climb takes you past amazing natural formations with many photo opportunities. The climb has been achieved by people in their 70s, though a reasonable level of fitness, appropriate clothing (including sturdy footwear), and sun protection is advisable. Camp Site One is one of the most peaceful places to camp, with a truly healing energy. Camp Site Two offers an awesome site with a mountain view. It is suitable for dirt bikes, horses, 4WDing, hiking, and much more. To access Site Two, a 4WD vehicle is preferable; however, it can be accessed by 2WD with sufficient clearance in dry weather. Camp Site Three is accessible by 4WD trail only. Site Three is a real gem, a large area at the back of the mountain accessible by one trail in and out. It is suitable for dirt bikes, 4WDs, horses, hiking, exploring, and much more. We also have unpowered sites for caravans and RVs. If you wish to camp on a site that requires 4WD access but do not have a 4WD, we can assist and drive you in and out for a small fee of $10 each way. All sites have mobile phone coverage. Camp Site One is at the top of our beautiful mountain and offers a very rare and special camping experience. Surrounded by pristine Australian bush and incredible rock formations, Camp Site One is a true gem that very few people have had the chance to experience—until now! Camp Site One is currently only accessible on foot or by horse. However, over half the climb can be done by 4WD. The second half of the climb takes you past amazing natural formations with many photo opportunities. The climb has been achieved by people in their 70s, though a reasonable level of fitness, appropriate clothing (including sturdy footwear), and sun protection is advisable. Camp Site One is one of the most peaceful places to camp, with a truly healing energy. Camp Site Two offers an awesome site with a mountain view. It is suitable for dirt bikes, horses, 4WDing, hiking, and much more. To access Site Two, a 4WD vehicle is preferable; however, it can be accessed by 2WD with sufficient clearance in dry weather. Camp Site Three is accessible by 4WD trail only. Site Three is a real gem, a large area at the back of the mountain accessible by one trail in and out. It is suitable for dirt bikes, 4WDs, horses, hiking, exploring, and much more. We also have unpowered sites for caravans and RVs. If you wish to camp on a site that requires 4WD access but do not have a 4WD, we can assist and drive you in and out for a small fee of $10 each way. All sites have mobile phone coverage. No sites currently provide amenities and are strictly "bring it in, carry it out."

Fernlee has a series of beautiful campsites along the Severn River. They are private, well maintained and absolutely beautiful. It’s a bird watchers dream with at least 20 different species we saw. The river was running when we were there and it was great paddling and swimming

This place is incredible. Beautiful, peaceful, and the cows are so friendly, they come right up to the kids. Sarah was so welcoming and helpful. The water is nice and the sunset on top of the hill is beautiful. I will be going back for sure. Next time I will be staying more than one night.

Absolutely incredible off-grid spot. The host is exceptionally friendly, and we even had a few horse and cow visitors wander by, which made the stay feel extra special. The property is beautifully maintained, peaceful, and far removed from the usual hustle and bustle. A truly stunning place to switch off and unwind — you won’t be disappointed.

Beautiful drive in from Tenterfield, designated camping areas well spaced, with ample grazed grass to set up adjacent the river. Three private shower, toilet & handbasin rooms with hot water available and very functional. Bagged fire wood was easily accessible from an old horse float. The valley is very picturesque and the varied birdlife associated with the river, ever changing. Watched a large goanna cruise past our site across the river. If the weather is hot, bring some shade set up, as tree shade not available until midday on. Being a working cattle property, bring a long handle shovel, as your preferred set up site may need a five minute clean up. Unfortunately, our stay was cut short, due to the recent weather events & needing to return home to deal with clean up activities (chainsaw work). Would look to return at a future time.

We absolutely loved our 3 nights at Camp Cangai! Directions were spot on & very easy access for our 20’ van. We camped right on the river & the water was perfect for swimming every day. The site has plenty of room for groups (Mick said there was a group of 25 following us) but we had the place to ourselves. A nice, clean drop toilet is provided & has fantastic views! We also ordered firewood from Mick & he provided heaps! We took a drive over the bridge one day & ended up doing a big loop back to camp - really nice scenery. If you’re in the mood, it’s only 18kms to the Mann River cafe for a burger for lunch. They also sell fuel, alcohol, food & drinks. All in all, a spectacular way to spend time chilling out & totally relaxing. We sure did!

Weekend Trip to Binghi Station

We were lucky enough to arrive just after some pretty severe storms went through & were the only ones there. We had the entire 4,000 acres to ourselves! We took our electric mountain bikes & loved riding or walking to Sandy Falls, or even Secret Gorge, which was a little more challenging. Jump’n Rock is about 1/2 an hour by 4WD & absolutely worth the effort. All three sites are absolutely spectacular! Plenty of good camp sites at Shearing Shed Campground but as Adrian says, be prepared as none of them are level. We were OK as we have airbag suspension. Adrian, Oratai & their 5 year old twins were perfect hosts & couldn’t do enough for us. Such a lovely family, they deserve to do well. Worth mentioning the track in. Adrian is careful to state that the track is 4WD only & be aware that whatever you are towing needs plenty of ground clearance also. We have a Ford Ranger & towed a 20’ extreme off road van. The track is very well compacted, so we were never going to get bogged but some of the hills were quite rutted & rocky & we had our hearts in our mouths on the way out, with all 4 wheels spinning! Adrian tells me he has a D6 bulldozer booked in the next month or so, so that should make a huge difference. All in all, we just loved our experience at Binghi Station. Highly recommended!

We stayed at Kingfisher camp for a few days. The site itself is raised above the river by a few metres, so you look down onto it which is lovely for watching the wildlife. The cows are very inquisitive and quickly demolished our tall, portable dog fencing to investigate our camp which wasn't ideal, but it's part of camping in a paddock. We didn't use their amenities but did take a sticky beak and they are well designed and spotlessly clean. Will definitely return.

We camped by the river at the Casurina site and were absolutely blown away by the serenity. The river was a lovely temperature and a few dips were taken, enjoying the great weather. Driving up to Sunset Hill was purely breathtaking. Cow's were also very friendly with a couple taking a liking to our firepit and the left over ash. Definitely will be back to enjoy the pure magic of the great stay we had.

Weekend Trip to Wunglebung

Fantastic campsite at Possum Hollow right on the river bank with nice shady trees and lush green grass. The river was crystal clear and flowing well, great for an afternoon swim. Hot showers and flush loos are near campsites and clean. Sarah and the team at Wunglebung are absolutely brilliant hosts! Nothing seems to be too difficult and they do in fact go out of their way to meet and greet and make sure you have an enjoyable stay. Even delivered a bag of firewood to our campsite. These guys really do look after you, we were in small hiking tents with a storm expected late afternoon. We were offered shelter in their cabin till the storm passed if needed. This was my first visit, but now plan to make this a regular camp spot and take my family and friends. Would highly recommend you give it a go!
