Our property covers over 140 acres, 80 acres cleared and pasture improved and the rest consisting of forest. You will probably see kangaroos, wallabies, wombats, and lots of bird life.
The closest shops are approximately a 15 minute drive to either the Mittagong Town Centre or Bowral where you will find a variety of shops, cafes and restaurants.
The region’s rich soil and high altitude are ideal for cool-climate wine growing. Visit cellar doors in the hills and valleys around Mittagong. Head to the spectacular Nattai Gorge via the Box Vale Mine walking track, an easy 4.4km circular walk that follows an old railway line through a tunnel to breath-taking views. Enjoy a picnic in the magnificent Lake Alexandra Reserve or hike up extinct volcanic peak Mount Gibraltar.
We have three types of accomodation:
The White Gum Forest Retreat offers campsites nestled in a white gum forest, not far from a beautiful trickling creek. There is access to toilets and a small dam near the campsites for water supply for showers if required.
The Camel Cottage offers a luxe off-the-grid escape for couples just one hour from Sydney but feels like "miles from anywhere".
The Gums Cottage is a fully contained, off-grid modern getaway, surrounded by the magnificent white gum trees that are its namesake. The serene setting and stylish interior of The Gums provides all the essentials for a picturesque and peaceful country escape.
There is 5G mobile telephone reception at the farm so you can reconnect with the world if need be. No pets please. Please keep all gates closed.

Nestled right up against the escarpment at an elevation of 450m, this high-end, off-grid 40 acre property effectively offers your own private slice of Macquarie Pass National Park - amazing views, giant cedar trees, fern forests, cascading waterfalls and palms surround.
It feels remote but it's only 90 min from Sydney, 30 min to Kiama and just 15 min to the shops. The property also offers the only hiking path up to the top of the escarpment for some truly amazing views.
As of September 2025, many of the trails on the property have been degraded by the rains and are now challenging for 2WD cars. If you're towing or it's wet we recommend AWD or 4WD vehicles.
Since this is coastal rainforest and it has been very wet, expect leeches anywhere it is damp. These are easily kept at bay with deet and or trousers tucked into socks.
We're not particularly price sensitive - until all those rate rises - but we are extremely value sensitive so we set out to make your stay extremely good value for your hard earned money. The land itself does most of the heavy lifting but also personal service and of course there's Lana to fall in love with.
Note, Mellows Rd is 2.6km long and rises 400m - in parts the road is a 15 degree grade. It's all paved but narrow so if you are towing a large heavy load, it's going to strain your car.

Our access track to the camping sites has been repaired with a deep layer of asphalt but still best suited to 4WD. 1. Please let us know if you are bringing a dog/dogs - we have horses, house dogs, chickens and; wildlife plus likely other campers close by, so need to be forewarned. Dogs must be on lead or contained at all times.
2. If you need to camp out of your 4WD RV (such as a roof top tent), please contact me before booking to ensure those two particular vehicle sites are still available :) and that your vehicle is suitable for our track. Maximum length is approx 5m. Please scroll through the photos to see our amenities and camping sites.
3. We limit the number of people staying at any one time, so weekends book up quickly. That said, due to Covid and weather, people often cancel at the last minute too, so if we are currently booked out, it's always worthile checking again closer to the date for any availability.
We are on acreage (approx 7 acres) in Otford, surrounded by forest, backing onto the very southern end of the Royal National Park Sydney/Wollongong. Sleep under the stars, and to the hoot of our local owls, and yips of the gorgeous feather-tail gliders. Lovely, peaceful and private in a bushland backdrop but so close and just a hike to famous sites, beaches, cafes and bushwalking - so the perfect spot to stop, unpack and then go exploring.

Sites are easy access with a clear track. All sites are dispersed so you can choose where you stay.

The morning birdsong and evening are restorative. The sunrises and sunsets amazing.
Far enough away to unwind and relax, close enough to get a caffeine fix if needed!
Coming into summer camp fires are subject to weather conditions and fire warnings.
Campers must be self-contained. Off grid campers, 4wd vehicles with pop ups or tents on ground and RVs can be accommodated. We have a leave only footprints philosophy. All rubbish and waste (human, animal & general) must be taken off property.
Extremely well behaved dogs are welcome. Our birds are free range so dogs need to be feathered friend friendly.

100 acres of secluded paradise with a kilometer of free flowing pebbled creek. Bound on two sides by the craggy escarpments of the Budgong and Morton National Parks there is ample grassland to give a feeling of space yet an abundance of trees to wander through as you engage with the tame wildlife and magnificent birdlife.
Bring your mountain bike, fishing rod, swimmers, hiking boots, tennis racket, basketball (a hoop on the tennis court) or climbing gear and leave the kids in the play area while you sit by the creek and listen to the water tumbling through the rocks.
If you are as intrigued by rare animals as we are, then this is the place for you. 63 Bird species, 24 mammals, 16 reptiles, and 12 amphibians have been sighted in the area (Clarke 2012) and this includes many rare and endangered species including the platypus, brush-tailed rock wallaby, Giant burrowing frog, Gang-gang cockatoo, Glossy black-cockatoo, Koala, Little Lorikeet and the Yellow-bellied glider.
We only have three campsites at present, so you will be guaranteed peace, space and privacy. with a minimum of 400m between all sites. Please note, that your group must be self-contained, with their own camp toilet, however fresh drinking water is available.
Access is into a valley on a well maintained unsealed road but there are some minor causeways making it unsuitable for busses or long low slung vans. An ordinary sedan will do for Billabong and Dad's camp sites but you will need some power for towing and a 4x4 to tow out in any rain. Riverbend site is only suitable for 4x4's and off-road camp trailers.

Forestvale Farm is a working farm and you are welcome to view whatever activities are happening during your visit, or head out beyond the farm gate to visit the Taralga Zoo, stock up on fresh organic produce grown by our neighbours, dine on hearty pub dinners in town, or fish for trout on the Abercrombie River just up the road.
Campfires are permitted (subject to prevailing bushfire risk conditions) but please speak to your hosts before lighting one. They must be kept contained and at a reasonable size.

Welcome to this remote piece of paradise! Rhapsody is located in Gingkin,, which is not far from Oberon NSW, about 3 hours west of Sydney.
Campsites are hidden in a remote valley direct frontage to the pristine Hollanders River, adjoining the Kanangra-Boyd National Park. There are two private campsites on grassy river flats surrounded by eucalyptus forest. The sites are very secluded so you will see lots of wildlife and you're guaranteed not to see any other people! Only one group can stay at each campsite and campsites are on different parts of the river so privacy is guaranteed.
In dry conditions 2WD is fine for Wallaby flat but in wet weather, 4WD is required. Platypus flat is 4wd only. You can always park at the top of the hill and walk down first if you're not sure.
Dog friendly. Campfires permitted in a designated area when restrictions aren't in place. Gather your own wood from fallen timber on the way in or BYO wood. Not much firewood available on site. Both campsites can get quite cool as they are low in the valley.
This is a wild and remote area. Guided remote bushwalks also available for those who are fit and adventurous.
Both campsites have a pit toilets, cold shower, spring water on tap, picnic tables.. Water is sourced from a distant spring in the mountain and is gravity fed to the site by above ground pipe which heats the water during the day.
There is a small area where you can get Telstra mobile reception at the cattle grid on the way into the property, but very limited mobile reception in this area. If you are on Optus or other networks you won't get any reception. There is no mobile reception at camp - perfect for disconnecting and reconnecting with nature!

Nestled right up against the escarpment at an elevation of 450m, this high-end, off-grid 40 acre property effectively offers your own private slice of Macquarie Pass National Park - amazing views, giant cedar trees, fern forests, cascading waterfalls and palms surround.
It feels remote but it's only 90 min from Sydney, 30 min to Kiama and just 15 min to the shops. The property also offers the only hiking path up to the top of the escarpment for some truly amazing views.
As of September 2025, many of the trails on the property have been degraded by the rains and are now challenging for 2WD cars. If you're towing or it's wet we recommend AWD or 4WD vehicles.
Since this is coastal rainforest and it has been very wet, expect leeches anywhere it is damp. These are easily kept at bay with deet and or trousers tucked into socks.

If you need to camp out of your 4WD RV (such as a roof top tent), please contact me before booking to ensure those two particular vehicle sites are still available :) and that your vehicle is suitable for our track. 3. We limit the number of people staying at any one time, so weekends book up quickly. That said, due to Covid and weather, people often cancel at the last minute too, so if we are currently booked out, it's always worthile checking again closer to the date for any availability.

Bring your mountain bike, fishing rod, swimmers, hiking boots, tennis racket, basketball (a hoop on the tennis court) or climbing gear and leave the kids in the play area while you sit by the creek and listen to the water tumbling through the rocks.
If you are as intrigued by rare animals as we are, then this is the place for you. 63 Bird species, 24 mammals, 16 reptiles, and 12 amphibians have been sighted in the area (Clarke 2012) and this includes many rare and endangered species including the platypus, brush-tailed rock wallaby, Giant burrowing frog, Gang-gang cockatoo, Glossy black-cockatoo, Koala, Little Lorikeet and the Yellow-bellied glider.
We only have three campsites at present, so you will be guaranteed peace, space and privacy. with a minimum of 400m between all sites. Please note, that your group must be self-contained, with their own camp toilet, however fresh drinking water is available.
Access is into a valley on a well maintained unsealed road but there are some minor causeways making it unsuitable for busses or long low slung vans. An ordinary sedan will do for Billabong and Dad's camp sites but you will need some power for towing and a 4x4 to tow out in any rain. Riverbend site is only suitable for 4x4's and off-road camp trailers.

Welcome to this remote piece of paradise! Rhapsody is located in Gingkin,, which is not far from Oberon NSW, about 3 hours west of Sydney.
Campsites are hidden in a remote valley direct frontage to the pristine Hollanders River, adjoining the Kanangra-Boyd National Park. There are two private campsites on grassy river flats surrounded by eucalyptus forest. The sites are very secluded so you will see lots of wildlife and you're guaranteed not to see any other people! Only one group can stay at each campsite and campsites are on different parts of the river so privacy is guaranteed.
In dry conditions 2WD is fine for Wallaby flat but in wet weather, 4WD is required. Platypus flat is 4wd only. You can always park at the top of the hill and walk down first if you're not sure.
Dog friendly. Campfires permitted in a designated area when restrictions aren't in place. Gather your own wood from fallen timber on the way in or BYO wood. Not much firewood available on site. Both campsites can get quite cool as they are low in the valley.
This is a wild and remote area. Guided remote bushwalks also available for those who are fit and adventurous.
Both campsites have a pit toilets, cold shower, spring water on tap, picnic tables.. Water is sourced from a distant spring in the mountain and is gravity fed to the site by above ground pipe which heats the water during the day.
There is a small area where you can get Telstra mobile reception at the cattle grid on the way into the property, but very limited mobile reception in this area. If you are on Optus or other networks you won't get any reception. There is no mobile reception at camp - perfect for disconnecting and reconnecting with nature!

Nellies Glen is a stop along the Six Foot Track, spanning the grassy flats of Megalong Creek that the locals (wombats) call home. This private campground is ready for your next getaway.
Right among the Aussie scrub and surrounded by the escarpments of Narrowneck and Ngula Bulgarabang, you'll feel a million miles away — but you’re not. A 1.5-hour walk from Katoomba along the Six Foot Track, or a half-hour trip from Blackheath, will land you at this stunning spot in the Megalong Valley.
Explore the Six Foot Track, Devil’s Hole, or other Narrowneck passes on foot, and find your own special slice of Megalong Creek for a refreshing dip. Sling up a hammock, watch the sunset over the escarpment, and see the stars fill the sky.
If you’ve driven into the valley, be sure to check out the local wineries, restaurants, and tearooms.
This laid-back property is all about privacy — allowing you to connect with your surroundings and respect the bush while having a great time.
We’re a family-friendly property and love seeing kids and dogs running around — but we’re not the place for loud music or late-night parties.

The Crossing at Wombat Hollow is an idyllic spot beside the fresh, flowing creek.
We appreciated that there was just a handful of sites on the property, thoughtfully spaced for the feeling of seclusion and ultimate peace and quiet. The site was well-maintained, freshly mown, and provided a great firepit and rustic log seating, as well as a quality picnic table.
Host Vallance was responsive, helpful, and made communication easy.
We had a lovely stay, in the company of kangaroos, wallabies, and abundant birdlife (and it was nice to know that the wombats and platypus were also neighbours, although we didn't see them).
Thank you for sharing this special place. We plan to return in the future.

2nd stay at Billabong and as enjoyable as the first. Nice large, flat and private spot for our 2 vans and 2 dogs, right by a flowing river. Easy communication with Valence. Won’t be our last stay.

We had a great time staying at this camp. The river is beautiful for swimming and relaxing and we enjoyed exploring it. Having the property to ourselves was amazing and the shed was a great bonus when the weather turned. Tom was a welcoming and communicative host which made finding the property and using utilities a breeze.

Pearla little spot! Easy enough to get to, and the creek crossing was very cute start to a serene getaway, only stayed one night and was awesome, be aware that there are little leeches by the creek but are not toxic/poisonous!

This location is even better than advertised. The views, cows, bird life and sunset over the river were just delightful. Our site was very well presented and the directions were great. Valance popped in to introduce himself and I wouldn't hesitate to reccomend this location.

Mike’s place is stunning. Well kept grounds with fire pits and buckets to extinguish. Soooo much space. There were two other families there at the same time as me but still had plenty of distance between us. Plenty of trees and shade but also big open spaces. I also had internet most of the stay. For part of the trip it’s a narrow dirt road to the property with a short, steep, rocky creek crossing to the gate, but it was all pretty easy for my Subaru Forester AWD. Before the dirt road you pass through the beautiful Megalong Valley rain forest.
The gem of the place for me was the gorgeous fern lined, crystal clear creek. I spent a big part of my time there (39 degree day!). If you walk it be careful because the rocks can be a bit wobbly and uneven. It was ankle to knee deep for most of it (that would change depending on rainfall). There is also a very boisterous lyrebird who mimics every bird in the forest and reminds me of the Roadrunner because it moves so fast. The fauna and flora are wonderful. Plenty of wrens, robins, roos and a big wombat hole/home. If you look closely there’s many different tiny little flowers and orchids around 5mm wide scattered throughout the grass. Loved this place!

Amazing views from the secluded camping spots in the hills. The first couple of spots accessible by my little 2WD city car, but would need a 4WD or be willing to walk for others. Ian was very helpful and his dog Lana is very friendly. Fire pit and chemical toilet at each spot. Optional extras such as a beautiful open shower (or hot spa) with a view or a coffee or gourmet chicken sandwich brought to you in the morning. Quite pricey but very special - I’d stay again!

Wow such an amazing campsite. Had the whole place to myself most of the time I was there. Campsites are very spread out. So much wildlife around, went for an early morning walk and saw lots of wombats. Had the best time camping with my dog. Great communication from Vallance, easy to find. Can’t recommend more!

Absolutely gorgeous campsite, nothing better than a dip in the creek at the end of a long day exploring and then listening to it as you fall asleep. Site was clean and level with a fire circle, hot plate, fire bucket and bag of kindling, toilet was functional and stocked with paper. Definitely keen to return with the family, thanks Mike!
