This was our first time camping, and it couldn’t have been better! The host was absolutely amazing—super friendly and even delivered firewood right to our site since we had a small car. The property is stunning, with alpacas roaming freely and plenty of kangaroos around, which made the experience feel truly magical. We were especially charmed by Boz, the friendly dog, who came by to say hello, stayed the night with us, and even joined us on a nature walk—our very own four-legged tour guide! The amenities were excellent and well-maintained, making our stay comfortable and stress-free. Highly recommend this spot for anyone looking for a peaceful, nature-filled getaway with outstanding hospitality!

Weekend Trip to Joadja Gorge Retreat & Camping

We loved our stay here! We were luckily able to camp on the Gorge site which is so unique and quite large. The river was up so the energy after big rain was awsome. The song of the lyrebirds was a bonus we saw plenty of wildlife. Leanne was a great and very accommodating host and a lovely lady. We will be back. Ask plenty of questions like most diligent hipcamp users and I'm sure you find a spot that suits.

3 nights at Wombat Hollow

We had a fantastic stay at Wombat Hollow. The location is stunning with beautiful views of the creek, and the fire-heated hot tub was a real highlight — easy to use and perfect for relaxing. The campsite was very private, which we really appreciated. We brought a 16ft caravan and found the track manageable, but I wouldn’t recommend going bigger — 4WD is definitely a must. Facilities were great: the fire pit was well maintained, and the kids loved the play equipment near the shed — it gave us a reason to take a lovely walk. Our host, Vallance, was amazing. Communication was clear and prompt both before and during the stay, and it was a nice touch that he stopped by to say hello. During our visit, heavy rain caused the creek to flood, leaving us temporarily stuck on the camping side of the causeway — but it turned out to be a blessing, giving us time to slow down, play board games, and enjoy the rain. We absolutely recommend Wombat Hollow — especially for families, couples, or anyone looking for a quiet retreat with a bit of adventure. Just make sure to read the listing carefully — it has everything you need to know to see if this spot is right for you.

Weekend Trip to Trout Valley Retreat

We had an absolutely amazing stay at Tom’s campsite! The location is stunning—tucked beside a flowing river and beneath a majestic cliff, it felt like something out of a postcard. We had the entire campsite to ourselves, which made it incredibly peaceful and the perfect place to unwind and reconnect with nature. We saw kangaroos, wombats, countless birds, platypus and even spotted some feral pigs and deer on the way in. The natural beauty of the area is just incredible, with vibrant colours in the trees and to sleep with sound of flowing river next to us was amazing. There was a fire area that made for the perfect evening under the stars(no light pollution so could see very clear sky so perfect for star gazing), and the flushable toilet and running water in the shed house were thoughtful touches that made the stay even more comfortable. We spent our days exploring and soaking in the peaceful atmosphere. If you're looking for a beautiful, off-the-grid experience surrounded by nature, this is the place. Can’t recommend it enough—thanks, Tom, we will be coming back again!

Some sites are 2WD accessible via gravel or dirt road, and some sites require a capable 4WD particularly if you are towing a camper. All sites have lovely views. Campers are required to be self sufficient with their own toilet/shower facilities and must take all waste and rubbish with them on departure. Fill your days swimming in the creek, exploring the property on foot, on mountain-bike, set up yabbie traps in the dams, or sit back and relax listening to the abundant birdlife that calls Forestvale home and keep your binoculars and camera handy for the visiting wildlife including wombats and kangaroos. Forestvale Farm is a working farm and you are welcome to view whatever activities are happening during your visit, or head out beyond the farm gate to visit the Taralga Zoo, stock up on fresh organic produce grown by our neighbours, dine on hearty pub dinners in town, or fish for trout on the Abercrombie River just up the road. Campfires are permitted (subject to prevailing bushfire risk conditions) but please speak to your hosts before lighting one. They must be kept contained and at a reasonable size. A beautiful and serene 40 acres just 5 kms from the wonderful Bundanoon village, the gateway to the Morton National Park, in the wonderful Southern Highlands NSW. We have a chain of dams to throw a line or catch some yabbies, even float around in the kayaks, or just sit beside and soak up the rays. We have horses, chooks, ducks and peafowl and a beautiful chocolate lab, Cleo. An easy and 10kms from the Hume Hwy there are numerous camp sites, a couple by the oak grove, a couple by the dam and with lovely rural vista. Kids stay free and are not included in the site capacity. Sites are easy access with a clear track. All sites are dispersed so you can choose where you stay. We live on property and are happy to share and let people enjoy our beautiful location. The morning birdsong and evening are restorative. The sunrises and sunsets amazing. Far enough away to unwind and relax, close enough to get a caffeine fix if needed! Coming into summer camp fires are subject to weather conditions and fire warnings. Campers must be self-contained. Off grid campers, 4wd vehicles with pop ups or tents on ground and RVs can be accommodated. We have a leave only footprints philosophy. All rubbish and waste (human, animal & general) must be taken off property. Extremely well behaved dogs are welcome. Our birds are free range so dogs need to be feathered friend friendly. Rhapsody

Welcome to this remote piece of paradise! Rhapsody is located in Gingkin,, which is not far from Oberon NSW, about 3 hours west of Sydney. Campsites are hidden in a remote valley direct frontage to the pristine Hollanders River, adjoining the Kanangra-Boyd National Park. There are two private campsites on grassy river flats surrounded by eucalyptus forest. The sites are very secluded so you will see lots of wildlife and you're guaranteed not to see any other people! Only one group can stay at each campsite and campsites are on different parts of the river so privacy is guaranteed. In dry conditions 2WD is fine for Wallaby flat but in wet weather, 4WD is required. Platypus flat is 4wd only. You can always park at the top of the hill and walk down first if you're not sure. Dog friendly. Campfires permitted in a designated area when restrictions aren't in place. Gather your own wood from fallen timber on the way in or BYO wood. Not much firewood available on site. Both campsites can get quite cool as they are low in the valley. This is a wild and remote area. Guided remote bushwalks also available for those who are fit and adventurous. Both campsites have a pit toilets, cold shower, spring water on tap, picnic tables.. Water is sourced from a distant spring in the mountain and is gravity fed to the site by above ground pipe which heats the water during the day. There is a small area where you can get Telstra mobile reception at the cattle grid on the way into the property, but very limited mobile reception in this area. If you are on Optus or other networks you won't get any reception. There is no mobile reception at camp - perfect for disconnecting and reconnecting with nature!

At Wildwoods you'll find 330 acres of natural bushland and a small amount of cleared farmland/paddocks with incredible views in every direction. Endless gullies, mountains, forests, cliffs, and caves to explore on the property or on the crown land adjoining. An amazing amount of wildlife - Birds, wombats, kangaroos of all kinds (wallaby, wallaroo, eastern greys etc), goannas, echidnas, turtles, ducks just to name a few. There are also plenty of roads to ride and explore via mountain bike or foot. The road in is a little rough, and there is only a small amount of levelled land. But it is still an amazing spot, where nature does all the hard work, and I would love to share it with people. This is the perfect place for those who want to be in total peace and quiet, surrounded by nature and wildlife. Each campsite is private, where by you're the only camper able to book the site. Some are more private than others - Read each description for details. *Please note* access to the property is via Megalong Road - a narrow windy road, the only road in and out of Megalong Valley. There's a range of different bushwalking trails in the region, including Starlights trail, a scenic bushwalk suited to experienced hikers, which forms part the Greater Blue Mountains trail network between Mittagong and Katoomba.
