Pre-booked riding lessons available. We have a state forest over the road suited to bush walking or mountain bikes. Ammo the horse who galloped out in the Sydney 2000 Olympics opening ceremony is buried here at Lakestead Farm. We love to speak about our Olympic experience.

At Lakestead Farm we pride ourselves on our beautiful environment. We have lots of wildlife around. We are very upset when visitors to the Farm dig holes and poo in them. Leaving toilet paper on top. This is so unfair to us and future campers on our sites.
Because this has occurred we will only allow campers with camping toilets.
In order for us to accept your request you need to confirm you have a toilet.
Don’t say yes if you don’t have one, Checks will be done, if you don’t have a portable toilet you will be asked to leave and your fees won’t be refunded.

There is plenty to do in the Morisset area including visiting the pretty Gap Creek Falls in the Watagans National Park or kayaking around beautiful Lake Macquarie, Australia’s largest coastal saltwater lake. There are some great areas for hiking, bike riding, bird watching and more.
Set on the western foreshore of Lake Macquarie, which has the bush in its backyard. Find a patch of shade for a picnic in Lake Macquarie State Conservation Area where you can spot kangaroos and other wildlife. The saltwater lake is a haven for sea turtles and dolphins and you might see sea eagles and kookaburras, too.

We now want to allow others to also have an escape into the tranquillity. The farm is not a productive farm as such, its a hobby farm, but that is what we call it.

Only 8 min from the Pacific Mwy and 10 min from Morisset shops, is this beautiful parcel of land. Just 1hr drive from Sydney, 1.5hr from the CBD.
The property backs onto Olney State Forest and has abundant wildlife. Several groups of wallabies are regulars, kookaburras have their nest in the trees, a few wombat holes are scattered around and deer have been seen on the property. There is only about 6 acres of cleared land and the remainder is untouched bush. Sawpit Creek is a seasonal creek which supports an abundant ecosystem.
The area benefits from short commutes to local beaches, the lake and rural countryside. There are plenty of attractions and tourist destinations.
We are currently only setup to cater for self-contained campers so you need to bring your own camping toilet/shower and drinking water. We do not have any facilities to offer. Please bring what you need and take with you what you bring. The paddock is level land.
4WDs are recommended to access the field, it gets a bit muddy after rain. Although there is one high spot near the bush driveway that seems to stay firm.

There are many beautiful walking and bike trails in the area. Lots of wildlife to meet, including water dragons, wild ducks, and pythons, to name a few. There is also nearby evidence of the original occupants, the Darkinjung people.

Welcome! Lovely to see you here. Our property is located in Arcadia, just 45 minutes from Sydney CBD. The campsite is located on the high side of the property that looks over into the valley & has stunning views of the Berowra National Park.
There is a multitude of walking, hiking and mountain bike trails. There are also many nearby horse riding trails. The property backs on to Calabash Creek which is like a rain Forrest once you get down to the valley floor.
Berowra waters is near by, whereby many fishing, canoeing, boating activities are available, coupled with some great cafes/restaurants.
Campfires are allowed as long as there are no restrictions in place and they are supervised. Pets are welcome and can be off leash, however are the responsibility of their human parents.
The property has ample room to accommodate larger groups that might want to hold milestone celebrations such as Birthday parties, whereby all sites will be closed to accommodate such events. Recently Calabash Haven hosted a party of 50 people for 50th Bday celebration. Feel free to inquire to see if we can accommodate your needs.

Only 8 min from the Pacific Mwy and 10 min from Morisset shops, is this beautiful parcel of land. Just 1hr drive from Sydney, 1.5hr from the CBD.
The property backs onto Olney State Forest and has abundant wildlife. Several groups of wallabies are regulars, kookaburras have their nest in the trees, a few wombat holes are scattered around and deer have been seen on the property. There is only about 6 acres of cleared land and the remainder is untouched bush. Sawpit Creek is a seasonal creek which supports an abundant ecosystem.
The area benefits from short commutes to local beaches, the lake and rural countryside. There are plenty of attractions and tourist destinations.
We are currently only setup to cater for self-contained campers so you need to bring your own camping toilet/shower and drinking water. We do not have any facilities to offer. Please bring what you need and take with you what you bring. The paddock is level land.
4WDs are recommended to access the field, it gets a bit muddy after rain. Although there is one high spot near the bush driveway that seems to stay firm.

There are composting toilets and cold showers available, however we are on tank water so keep them under 3 min please! Drinking water also available and BBQ facilities. Grassy area is gently sloped with pockets of flat areas and one large section flattened to fit 3-4 tents.

Backing on to the Watagans National Park, we have a gorgeous flat creek paddock tucked away behind a beautiful mountain on our essential oil farm.
The location is perfect for those wanting to explore the Watagans on two or four wheels. We’re also just down the road from the Great North Walk.
The camping area is surrounded by untouched rainforest, perfect for wandering and exploring the rock pools. Whether you’re into the excitement of off-roading or just want a place to escape, this little slice of paradise has something for everyone.
All campers need to be self-contained, so please ensure you bring along your camp toilet, and take all waste when you go.
Well-behaved four-legged friends welcome also!
With the nearest country villages of Paxton and Ellalong just 15 minutes up the road, with their cafes, local pub and general store, you can grab supplies nearby. Or, head into Cessnock, 20km up the dirt road for more essential services.

UPDATE - 18th June 2025: We regret to advise that following multiple flooding events our access road and campsites have been severely damaged (ie impassable even by 4wd) and are currently unsafe. As the cost of repairs are significant we cannot provide a rectification date at this stage.

Welcome! Lovely to see you here. Our property is located in Arcadia, just 45 minutes from Sydney CBD. The campsite is located on the high side of the property that looks over into the valley & has stunning views of the Berowra National Park.
There is a multitude of walking, hiking and mountain bike trails. There are also many nearby horse riding trails. The property backs on to Calabash Creek which is like a rain Forrest once you get down to the valley floor.
Berowra waters is near by, whereby many fishing, canoeing, boating activities are available, coupled with some great cafes/restaurants.
Campfires are allowed as long as there are no restrictions in place and they are supervised. Pets are welcome and can be off leash, however are the responsibility of their human parents.
The property has ample room to accommodate larger groups that might want to hold milestone celebrations such as Birthday parties, whereby all sites will be closed to accommodate such events. Recently Calabash Haven hosted a party of 50 people for 50th Bday celebration. Feel free to inquire to see if we can accommodate your needs.
Campers must be self contained with their own camping toilet and take all waste with them on departure.

The shelter was great and there was beautiful views, the owner was very kind! Great to have a sink and a shower/toilet facilities. Only thing I would recommend is maybe some lights down the pathway to the toilet, we had a great weekend, Thank you!

We had the best stay at Myrtle Ridge!! The site is beautiful with plenty of space, you are quite secluded from the other campers which is brilliant. Toilets are clean. Alana was a fantastic host, we really enjoyed chatting with her and she was very accommodating and helpful. Will look forward to coming back!

This is such a beautiful and precious hip camp. The people that run the farm are so lovely and very accomodating. They do tours on weekends and take you to their animals. /teach you about the farm and its history.
There is a really lovely waterfall and walk and the orchards are beautiful to walk around with tasteful oranges!
The funds raised from the hip camp goes to the Rotary charity in many countries it is a very cool concept.
We would highly recommend checking this out!

Fantastic spot. I have been four times with my sons and will continue to go. Jim is a great host and provides a perfect combination of bush outlook, privacy and spaced out camping spots with the comfort of your own toilet and drinking water. Also have easy access to Morisset for supplies if needed. Highly recommend.

Lovely place. Very scenic and peaceful. Would benefit from toilet upgrade. We almost cooked inside the tin shed with the warm weather. No escape from warm weather with not being allowed in the water and not much shade. Caretaker was lovely. Kids loved the animals being around to say hello to. Would go back but maybe not in summer.

Probably better if you have your own toilet/ shower, as there’s only one and it’s quite rustic as it says in the description. Perfect for a one night stay though.

We had a wonderful stay at Canoelands Valley Camping hosted by Debbie. The place was incredibly peaceful, quiet, and relaxing. Exactly what we were looking for. My partner Hannah and I really enjoyed the time we spent there, switching off from the city and just enjoying the calm surroundings. Debbie was a great host, and the overall experience was simple, stress-free, and rejuvenating. We’d definitely love to come back again.
