Montauk State Park
Offering a casual, relaxed vibe, this park is shady, green and ideal for families and anglers.
Located by the Current River, this small park is a great choice for a chilled-out family break. Dedicated hiking and biking trails allow for some fun, gentle exercise.
The scenery of green trees, rushing rivers, and lakes offer some amazing photo opportunities. There are picnic areas and outdoor grills scattered through the park for mealtimes.
The park also offers excellent angling, with rainbow and brown trout being the main attractions. Keep in mind that you'll need a permit for fishing. You should also find out in advance if there's a catch-and-release policy in effect.
When it's time to set up camp, there are four sites to choose from. Each has a mix of bookable and first-come, first-served spaces. Loop One is the most basic, while the special family sites offer full electricity hookups.
