About

Look over the rugged hills gushing rapids of Sweetwater Creek State Park, and you would never know that you’re just 30 minutes from downtown Atlanta. This 2,500-acre park has everything you need for a getaway adventure—hike along wooded trails, paddle across a 215-acre reservoir, and visit the ruins of the New Manchester Manufacturing Company, a textile mill that burned down during the Civil War. The visitor center is also worth seeing to learn about the park while exploring one of the most sustainable buildings in the country.

Reservations for all campsites are open year-round and can be made up to 13 months in advance.
Due to its popular location and limited capacity, campsites fill up fast. Reserve early to ensure a spot!

When to go

Sweetwater Creek is beautiful to visit any time of year. Enjoy warm weather and lush greenery in the spring and summer, see changing foliage in the fall, and catch the fewest crowds in the winter. Kayaks and other boat rentals are only available during the warmer months.

Know before you go

Yurts comfortably sleep six, but bring your own linens, towels, cooking materials, and utensils.
Yurts include a deck and two adirondack chairs, plus outdoor electrical outlets.
Campsites include a fire ring, a grill, and a picnic table.
