San Onofre State Beach
Fall asleep to the sounds of ocean waves near California's most popular surfing beach.
Ever since the 1920s, people starting sleeping on San Onofre Beach. That was so they could hit the waves as early as possible once the sun's rays hit the Pacific Coast. Even if you don't like surfing, this historic area is replete with plenty of other things to do.
Hiking trails, sandstone bluffs, a 3.5-mile shoreline and, of course, beautiful water, create an outdoor lover's paradise. Discover your perfect panoramic ocean view by winding through hiking trails cut into the bluff. Or, find your romantic picnic spot above the surf beach to take a break for lunch or gaze at the sunset.
San Onofre Bluffs Campground offers several basic amenities that include a fire pit, tent sites, and outdoor showers close to the beach. There are no RV sites, but there is an RV dump station. If you'd rather avoid crowded campgrounds, find

You can easily access the beach from Old Highway 101 adjacent to the gorgeous rocky bluffs.
