The Forbes Island off-grid event venue and campground are at Bradford Island in the Sacramento River Delta. The floating barge is moored next to our private ranch, utilized for tent and RV camping for larger groups. We limit rentals to single groups for ultimate privacy in a natural setting. You and your guests enjoy the remote Sacramento River Delta wetlands while being only a short drive from the Bay Area. Guests have direct access to water sports and private docks.
*Note: Forbes Island requires passage via the Bradford Island car ferry (see schedule below), a personal watercraft, or a captained passenger ferry boat that must be booked in advance. Boat dock space is included.
History:
Forbes Thor Kiddoo came to San Francisco in 1959 after a stint in the Coast Guard. A carpenter and engineer, he developed a business constructing houseboats in Sausalito. Then, inspired by Jules Verne’s Captain Nemo and the movie version of “20,000 Leagues Under The Sea”, Forbes Kiddoo built himself an underwater home, complete with portholes for watching the fish swim past, a diving hatch and a grand bedroom suite fit for a captain of his private world. In the ’90s, Forbes added a 40-foot lighthouse and a white picket fence.
Today, a small group of committed friends has preserved and kept Forbes Island afloat for community events, opening it for all to experience and enjoy. Your rental helps us to maintain this totally unique, fabulous find into the future.

Are day campers included in the total guest count, or does it only apply to overnight guests? All campers, whether they are staying overnight or not, must be included in the reservation.
Can additional guests be added after the initial booking? Yes, you can modify your trip to add more guests through the Hipcamp app, but you cannot exceed the maximum capacity.

We wanted to take our new van on its first overnight and Delta Shores is nearby! It was easy to find, we were welcomed and given the lay of the land. It’s a great spot with clean bathrooms. We were definitely rough out as our van hasn’t been converted to a camper yet but we had a blast! Took a great walk along the delta both in the evening and the next morning. Will return! Dog loved it!

5 nights at Rustic tiny cabin in Wine Country
We stayed for 5 nights and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The property is absolutely beautiful with apple and plum trees and cute rustic structures. There is a wonderful walking trail nearby and the property is within walking distance to stores. Hosts Emily and Drew were wonderful!

We camped there with our 30ft Class C for just one night. Great things about the place; quiet and pretty ( nice trees and grass, surrounded by cornfields on 3 sides and the river on the other.) A great wall of blackberries, fresh for the picking. Swimming pool was a nice feature, camp host was great.
Not so great, hot tub not very hot, pool could be cleaned.
Nothing fancy, but a nice place.

The site we stayed in was nice and quiet, under trees and near the bathrooms (as requested). The majority of people there were in much larger rigs with sewer set up - we just used shore power. Check in was quick and easy and the bathrooms were clean and well stocked. We only stayed one night and left early the next morning so didn't use much other facilities. The only thing I'd warn others of is how quickly the entrance came up - and it's very steep - so pay attention.

We loved staying on Jamie's land! It was a wonderful get away that started with a cool ferry ride. He truly thought of everything with access to an out side grill, wood for buring, pots pans/ bowls and plates even extra toothpaste and tooth brushes which was needed b/c we forgot ours. So thanks Jamie! The lights at night were both practical and beautiful. It made the night feel like a "fairy land" as my daughter put it. It made it easy to locate the RV in the dark and trees / tables without needing a light. It was awesome! Thank you! We can't wait to plan another trip here!

Great private campsite, Jamie is awesome and responds very quick and is very accommodating to special requests. Took a boy scout troop there and had a great time canoeing, fishing, and even swimming. The RV is a nice extra, and is clean. Falling asleep to the sound of crickets and frogs was an added bonus. Well worth the effort to get there. This campsite was perfect for our troop adventure!
