Offering eleven walk-in style campsites, Prospector Ridge Campground is Mueller State Park’s one of only two such niche-like campgrounds: pure-’n’-simple, no modern thrills. So, go ahead―pitch-up a tent under a green-hued spur. Just make sure you’re prepared for the campsite fee.

Great campsite but book early in the summer as it is right next to Colorado Springs and spaces fill fast. This park is open year round. It is beautiful, probably the best state park in Colorado. I camped at #63 which was a bit of a walk, but quiet and private as it is set back near the ridge on the loop. It was a clear night so I didn't need the rain fly and was treated to a coyote walking through my site in the morning.

The elevation can get you if you are not careful. Gambling at Cripple Creek not too far away.
