Purplehaze Acres is a 60-acre organic rustic farm in Rubicon, WI and resides at the beginning of the approx. 650-mile Niagara Escarpment--known locally as "The Ledge". We are in close proximity to the Ice Age Trail, and the natural treasures of the great Horicon Marsh, Lake Sinnissipi/Rock River with canoeing/kayaking/fishing, Ledges County Park, and the world-renowned Holy Hill Shrine. Nearby Hustisford ("Husti") offers unique shopping and dining experiences. Need a few organic groceries? Make sure to visit Back To The Best Organic grocer only 3 miles away, featuring food raised on local organic farms including Purplehaze Acres. We offer a variety of camping alternatives, with 7 tent sites, 1 group site, and a cabin. There is potable water, charcoal grills, firepit grates, eggs and, available for purchase, firewood. SUMMER: Peace Camp (Site 1 - Group) The perfect location for the Summerfest, EAA and gatherings like  Harley-Davidson Anniversary Celebrations. Only 50 minutes from Milwaukee and Oshkosh! Accommodates 12-15 tents w/potable water, cooking compound, fire pit, composting privy, regulation horseshoe pit. Peace Camp is separate and distanced from private/quiet campsites. Plenty of motorcycle parking short, grass runway for aviators. $200/night for up to 10 campers. $10/night for each additional camper. If you book two nights, it's $160/night for up to 10 campers. We opened it up to one night bookings so groups wanting to have a one-day, overnight gathering could enjoy the space more affordably. Here's your chance to check out this comfortable little rustic off-grid cabin in the woods with it's southern exposure views. Rustic comforts include loft sleeping area with queen bed, indoor compost toilet, water catchment and filtering system, cook stove, wood stove, and solar-powered lighting system. Additionally we have added a non-electric propane furnace,  a solar powered 12-volt refrigerator,  and we supply firewood for wood stove. These additions make it a more relaxing experience not having to worry if you are fire-starter challenged or if you check-in late.  Escape the carbon footprint jungle for a weekend or a week. We have you covered. ALLERGY WARNING: We are dog friendly, so cabin is not conducive to campers with gander and dust allergies. Site 2 Casey's Camp
Great camp site! We brought a lot of people and a lot of tents (including a large shelter we used as a common space) and still had plenty of room to stretch out. Beautiful, isolated setting. Convenient access to a great outhouse. It rained for quite a bit of our stay, but the site was at just the right incline to ensure that water never pooled and flowed down the hill nicely. Conveniently located close to other outdoor activities (we did several hikes at the Kettle Moraine Pike Lake Unit, which was beautiful and only 20 minutes away and canoed around the Horicon Marsh Wildlife Area, 20 minutes in the other direction) as well as the town of Hartford, which had excellent grocery stores and a fun little downtime area to check out. The field at the bottom of the hill looks very cool during the misty morning hours. Darryl was a great, friendly host who also gave us plenty of privacy and freedom. Would absolutely visit again!

Site 6 Solitude
This was a beautiful campsite, and the other campers were incredibly friendly and helpful. A huge plus was the complete absence of ticks. I was also grateful to the proprietor for letting me know about some alternative sites that were easier to access. The firewood is a great value, but be sure to bring cash. We had a little trouble finding our site, but that was largely due perhaps to inexperience than any issue with the campground itself. The sounds were a mixed experience. Hearing the frogs at night was genuinely magical and one of the highlights of the stay. The rooster was a bit more challenging. From what I could tell, it sounded like a younger rooster still finding its voice, but it crowed frequently and often for extended periods throughout the day. Eventually, I found myself reaching for an Excedrin. While the animal noise may not bother everyone, sound sensitive campers may want to keep it in mind. Overall, we had a good stay and appreciated both the natural beauty of the property and the space

Perfect getaway for my spouse and I! We ended up staying at site 5 since it was available and closer. I loved the location because it felt private while still being accessible to the privy and the parking area. It was very peaceful and exactly what we needed.

We have tent camped here a couple times before, always a nice time. With the changing weather we decided to rent the tiny house instead, and might I add, it did not disappoint. Super cute cabin with everything you need to cook inside or out. The loft bed was very cool and enjoyed a nice selection of games and reading material. A perfect place for small families to disappear for awhile and get that up north experience.

My boyfriend and I recently stayed at the firefly campsite, and we absolutely loved our time here! Darryl communicated directions very clearly, and even gave us permission to harvest some beautiful golden oyster mushrooms from his land! In addition to mushrooms, we also saw fireflies, dragonflies, deer, turkeys, chipmunks, a hawk, a groundhog, and heard owls, frogs and coyotes in the distance! The campsite was shady and perfect for two hammocks next to our tent. I truly couldn’t have asked for a better weekend.

Stone Ridge Tiny House
Great little cabin isolated on a hill above the owner's main property. Small but cozy and has everything you need for a comfortable few days' stay. Bed/loft up top is great for sleeping with several large windows up top allowing a nice cross breeze. Stove is ultra convenient and the pump-driven sink is a nice olde-tyme touch but actually works quite well. Hosts were very friendly and even delivered fresh eggs from their chickens once morning, which were very good when cooked up the next morning. I wouldn't try to put more than two people in here if you want to enjoy yourself, or maybe one adult and two small children. Having a toilet in the house is super convenient, especially with kids, but no door on the area contributes to some unpleasant scents sometimes. Cabin could also use a few quick fixes to seal gaps, replace/remove broken/nonfunctional electronics/lighting, and remove random nails and screws stocking out of random areas. Also the "greenhouse" behind the cabin is a nice idea but is completely destroyed and in a state of total disrepair/overgrowth which kind of detracts from the experience pictured. Not reasons I wouldn't visit again, just some refining touches and repairs that would help deliver a consistent experience from booking to visit.

Site 5 Darbys Camp was amazing! Every site is spread apart far enough to where you feel complete privacy. The grate as well as the charcoal grill already provided for campers at each site was extremely helpful. We cooked steaks and burgers right on the grate over the fire! The trail up the hill to the camp site will definitely take you breath away for a minute but absolutely worth it and nothing unbearable. Daryl welcomed us right when we got there very kindly, and prior to arrival gave perfect directions in case the gps had errors. The little shop out front has every essential you may have forgotten plus firewood for sale. Definitely recommend for a private little get away.

Excellent Writing Retreat

This cabin is so warm and welcoming. This is my second stay; this time, it was a retreat to write my master's thesis! This was the perfect writing retreat location, with very few distractions! I would suggest bringing your own dry wood, as the wood provided was damp and took a long time to get a good fire going. AND...so AirPods to block out the sound of the rooster at 4 am :) Darryl is a generous host, checking in and even getting my car out of the mud when it was time to leave! I can't wait to be back!

Site 4 Firefly Camp
Darryl is one of the best hosts. We actually got stuck in the mud on the way in, and he came out and helped pull our car right away. We were originally supposed to stay at Firefly, but because it had rained a lot before our trip and my car couldn’t handle the mud, Darryl offered for us to stay at the Fallen Tower site instead. It was very spacious and really nice. Perfect for our dogs. He also gave us fresh eggs from his farm, which we enjoyed for our breakfast on the second day. The campsite itself was great, clean, peaceful, and had everything we needed like water and toilet. We brought our 2 dogs and 1 cat with us, and they also enjoyed their stay. Definitely coming back next time.

Staying at Stone Ridge cabin was an amazing escape from city life. A perfect place to curl up with a good book around the woodstove. Very please with the ammenities and cooking supplies. The bed and sheets were dirty, but nothing we couldn't handle.

It was very nice, and very scenic. The camp areas are as advertised. I drive a mini-van, and we got rained out on our final morning, and driving out was a little dicey. I also wish that we had brought extra TP, as the outhouse ran out. But otherwise, quite a good deal.
