Goose Creek Lost Acre
in East Woods on the IL River, IllinoisPrivate site near starved rock
We had a great time at Katieās place! She was very responsive and gave great suggestions for sightseeing in the area. The site is gorgeous, positioned just above a creek. You can opt to camp on the grass, or under the trees next to the campfire. As others have mentioned in their reviews, there is a train that runs a few times a day near the campsite. The train didnāt bother us at all, this site is far more quiet than your typical state park campground even with the train. The site is close to several state parks including Starved Rock, and in walking distance to downtown Ottowa. Definitely worth the visit!
A Central Illinois Paradise
in Red Gate Farm, LLC, IllinoisSean and Danielle were fantastic hosts! From the moment we arrived, they made us feel welcome. Sean helped us with our gear to and from the campsite which was a huge help. The site itself is just gorgeous! Very private and peaceful, with a firepit, a griddle for cooking and your own private swimming hole. They offered to show us around the farm and had fresh, REAL organic produce/meats to purchase when we arrived. They also pointed us in the direction of some really cool local sites which I highly recommend if you are in the area, including: Lincolnās New Salem and Lincolnās Presidential Library and Museum. Totally worth the trip out to both sites! I highly recommend staying on Sean and Danielleās farm, they are really sweet people and we had an awesome experience at Red Gate Farms!
