in Waterwheel Park, Washington Scot and Rebeccaâs land is a good distance from the railroad and major road ways so there was no train or semi truck traffic noise. Though the campsite on their land is close to the street there was very little traffic noise and it was very peaceful with the sound of the water wheel. The compostable toilet was nicely decorated and it was very clean and tidy. No lights in the bathroom so be sure to bring your head lamp or a flashlight. Scot and Rebecca provide you with a fire ring and wood for building a fire but be sure to bring paper and kindling or better yet buy yourself a Presto log and use it to get the big pieces of wood to catch fire. One of our days camping we were gone the entire day hiking and visiting the Goldendale Observatory. We left our tent and bikes at the site and when we returned everything was still in its place. I was very thankful and thrilled that no one helped themselves to our belongings. They provide you with a lovely picnic table for cooking and eating together!

Stacie D.has mixed feelings towards this listing.
Shady Pines had a lovely area to set-up our tent and the bathroom set-up was great. The chairs and the fire pit were a wonderful to have since we did not bring our own chairs. We were hoping to use the tent that Shady Pines advertised in their pictures so we would not have to set-up our tent for just one night but there was no tent when we arrived. Thankfully we had our own tent. It was a surprise for us to learn that this area of Oregon is right under the landing path of planes coming into the Portland airport so the air traffic was noisy at times. The river was beautiful!

Karen and family were wonderful! Even though we arrived late on Friday night they came out and greeted us and provided us directions to the bathroom and outdoor kitchen area. The covered outdoor kitchen area was great and allowed us to stay dry while we cooked our breakfast Saturday morning. The animals were fun to visit with and Pepper, their dog, was a wonderful host and kept us company. Thank you Karen and family for being so welcoming and accommodating!
Stacie hasn't gone on any trips yet.
