Past trip
in Whimsical Treehouses and Trails!!, KentuckyI booked this last minute the night before while looking for a nice place to be the last stop of my road trip. Though my stay was short, after a long day of driving it was nice to be able to go and hike some of the trails and stretch the legs. The tree house itself was great. It was very nice and clean inside. Shelly was great and got in touch with all the information I needed right away. Wish I could have stayed longer.

I had an amazing experience at White Bluff Campground, all thanks to Johnnie. Words cannot describe how great of a guy Johnnie is. When I first arrived I was greeted at the front entrance by Johnnie in his UTV with another couple. I followed him into the campground and hopped in to the vehicle with them and was given a tour of the property. He showed us where all of the best sites were and gave us a tour of the 3 cabins that were also available. I had arrived after some pretty heavy rains had swept through the area so the river was very high and not really accessible. Johnnie let me choose where I wanted to set up camp for 2 nights. I ended up picking the site across from the 2 unoccupied cabins since it was right next to a nice creek and had a large fire pit.
I was hoping to do some fishing while I was camping and the river was not an option at the time, but luckily Johnnie has access to a private 100 acre pond not far from the campsite which is loaded with bass, crappie, bream, perch and more. We drove around the lake and fished from shore a bit until the rain forced us to pack up. Johnnie made arrangements with one of his buddies to take me out again on the lake but on a boat which was amazing. We hauled in loads of fish. I can't thank him enough for going out of his way to make that happen.
While back at the campground Johnnie came around every once in a while to see if I needed anything and to make sure I was comfortable. Showers and bathrooms were available on the grounds which was great after a hot day in the sun. The property the campground is on is well over 200 acres and there is plenty of room for activities. I even pedaled my mountain bike around the grounds a bit. There is no light pollution in the area so if you are lucky enough to have clear nights the stars are out in abundance.
If I had more thumbs I would give more than 2 thumbs up. Overall great experience. It was super quiet and a very peaceful place which is exactly what I look for in a campsite. Johnnie was an amazing host and is the nicest guy in the world. If I am ever back in the area I will not hesitate to camp here again. Thanks Johnnie for everything!

in Fort Bluff Camp Site, AlabamaIf you are in the area this is a site you do not want to pass up. Truly one of a kind campsite with amazing views and a terrain unlike any site I have ever experienced. There is plenty of room to set up multiple tents if needed and with the unobstructed view of the night sky itâs the perfect place to sleep under the stars. If you are into astrophotography this would be a great site to get some great shots.
As others have mentioned a 4x4 is a must if you plan on driving all the way up to the site. Donât attempt to drive through the larger puddles even with 4x4. There are go arounds for every one of them. There are plenty of spots you can park and walk up.
Sandra was great and made sure I found the site without issue even though I booked it at the very last minute while passing through Alabama on my toad trip. Overall great experience. I wish I had stayed more than one day so I could have explored the area a bit more.

Mike hasn't gone on any trips yet.

in Hilleetla, TexasThis was my 4th hipcamp site for the week while on my road trip and by far the most beautiful piece of land I have camped on so far. Alissa and David sure do have a special piece of property there. When I arrived I was greeted by Alissa who was very helpful and super nice. She gave me some suggestions on where to camp and showed me on the map where everything was on the property. I chose to set up my tent down by the smaller pond because it was a very private little spot with some shade and I was able to do some fishing right from camp. The landscape with rolling hills, 2 ponds, and a creek really makes for many different types of camping experiences depending on what you are into.
While at camp I was first greeted by the friendly ducks and geese that Alissa and David introduced to the pond. They will come right up to you and are rather amusing. I was camping alone and it was great to have Bobbi stay with me almost the entire 2 days I was there. He likes to guard camp and even chased off some critter that was freaking out the birds in the middle of the night.
The smaller pond has loads of little bass in the 6-10" range which make for some good top water action, while the large pond has some good sized bass if you fish some rubber worms through the lily pads or top water frogs. I lost count of how many fish I caught, but it was a fun day of fishing. I also took a walk through the sandy creek with crystal clear water. This would be a great spot to camp on a hot summer day to cool off whenever you please. The longhorn and donkeys were roaming around the hillside by the large pond and was a nice addition to the already perfect scenery.
Overall this was an awesome camping experience and would not hesitate to go back again if I was in the area. Do yourself a favor and stay at least a couple days and take it all in. I stayed 2 days and wish I stayed longer. Alissa was a great host and accommodated me even though I booked 1 day before I arrived. Thanks for making this trip so enjoyable!
