Camping in the shade on the river
in Camping in the shade on the river, VirginiaSummer camping with the dogs
This is such a gem! The campsite itself is huge with a large, well-maintained grassy area. Then you have the shelter with plenty of seating and enough room between posts to hang hammocks. The fire pit is huge with a fire stove in place. And then thereâs direct access to a peaceful spot on the river. There is an outhouse available which we did not use but might be another plus. Honestly, one of my new favorite campsites.
Group Site 103
in Devils Backbone Camp, VirginiaExcellent camping, gorgeous scenery
Canât say enough good things about our camp experience! We had plenty of space to spread out without being right up against neighbors, directions were clear and signage was obvious. The bath house was warm and clean which was great on a cold night. Our site even had our name written in it which was a nice personal touch! We are so excited to go back again in a warmer season and get tp visit the brewery this time while weâre camping.
Log Cabin on a Virginia Farm
in Jack's Run, Glade Hill, VA, VirginiaBeautiful, peaceful getaway
What an incredible stay! It was everything we were looking for in a long weekend getaway. We got to be âoff the gridâ in beautiful weather, wander the wooded trails, play in the pool, and sit out on the porch in the early morning and evenings. Weâre already talking about visiting again. Shirley and her husband were wonderful hosts giving us a bit of history of the property. And we loved the added bonus of getting to bring our senior pup with us for some rest and relaxation.
The Blackwater Bungalow
in Blackwater Birds and Bees, VirginiaBeautiful, cozy bungalow stay
The host James met us and gave us a tour, the Bungalow was gorgeous inside, and out and the scenery couldnât be better! The weather was insanely hot but we made the most of our time by paddling around the pond and exploring the Blackwater river in our kayaks we brought along. James was very accommodating in helping us find fun things to do despite the extreme weather and we are greatly looking forward to returning in the Fall! My husband and I are regular campers so this was a nice excursion and change of pace. We also enjoyed getting to bring along on the trip! Overall, despite the weather, it was a great stay.
