in Lomasun Farm, ColoradoHot Spring Vintage VW Camp
in Sky Valley Camp, CaliforniaSarah has a really cool spot just outside of Joshua Tree NP. Her desert property is dotted with camper vans and trailers for rent, and has a nice view of the mountains all around. The VW bus itself has a small but cozy bed in the back and transports you to a different time with its vintage feel. There are outdoor bathtubs that can be filled up, and hammocks hanging between posts. A beautiful place to stay close to the national park, Palm Springs, and Los Angeles.
Amazing Stargazing Capsule
in Harmony House Homestay, ArizonaWe had a wonderful stay at this unique HipCamp in Sedona. Tucked into a cute neighborhood are two inflatable capsules with windows to the sky - perfect for viewing the incredibly bright nighttime stars in the desert. Our capsule was equipped with warm lighting and blankets on a comfortable bed (with electric heating), charging outlets, and a night sky guide book. A few feet away was a heated bathroom with a hot shower and towels - a much needed amenity on our road trip. WiFi was available, but we preferred to just turn off the lights and watch the stars. We really enjoyed our stay at Sedona Stargazing Retreat!
Bohemian Hideaway Refrigerated Box
in Pinnacle Farms South, ArizonaJanna has set up a couple of awesome places to stay outside of Phoenix. Nestled into her expansive citrus orchards, and with beautiful views of the mountains, are two cozy hideaways. We stayed in her well furnished and comfortable retrofitted storage container, and right next door is a cool old trailer-turned-cabin. An outdoor bathroom and kitchen are provided, as well as a picnic table with a heat lamp, WiFi, and a generator for lights and power if needed. This is a wonderful place to relax and escape the desert heat and we really enjoyed our stay.
The Ranch
in The Ranch, ArizonaJust outside of Tucson, this spot is full of awesome quirks and people. JustMark and his friends have a beautiful collection of vintage buses that they are renovating, and their property has many great places to pitch a tent in the shade. Our hosts were very welcoming and friendly and made our time in Tucson really memorable.
Site 2 - Grey Oaks
in Plantsanctuary, New MexicoAndy has carved out a neat spot nestled into the Gila National Forest of New Mexico. His land abuts a little stream that runs through the historic silver mining town of Kingston. The spot has three campsites that have been neatly mowed and cleared. A fire pit and wood were provided for our use by our hosts, Andy and Lea. They are welcoming people who greeted us a with a smile when we pulled in. Lea offers a tour of the surrounding area which gives you some perspective on the history and ecology of the land. WiFi is available, and Andy and Lea are working on a lounge area for future guests to hang out. They also have some fun and friendly goats named Ben and Jerry! We enjoyed our stay at the Plant Sanctuary and would recommend it to any travelers passing through the Gila National Forest.
Glamping Netted hanging Round bed
in Kokomo Farms, FloridaTrudy and Greg have an incredible property and are some of the most gracious hosts we have ever met. We chose the hanging bed experience with the wood-fired pizza and were blown away by the lengths our hosts went to to make sure we had a great time. We dined on delicious, hot pizza that was ready shortly after we arrived, and enjoyed the company of our interesting new friends. The hanging bed makes you feel like royalty as you relax and watch a movie on their big outdoor projector screen. They provide popcorn and a selection of favorite movies to cozy up and watch after an evening soak in the hot tub. For campers, there is a quiet corner of the property with great spots to set up tents, and you still get to enjoy the hospitality of Greg and Trudy. All in all, this spot is truly a hidden gem in the beautiful farmland of the Florida panhandle.
Stars Aligned River Retreat
in Stars Aligned River Retreat, GeorgiaStars Aligned River Retreat is a spectacular place to stay. George and Michelle have thought of everything and provide an incredible experience for people from an array of interests. Their property is gorgeous and the surrounding preserve is full of wildlife, trails to explore, and river to boat and fish. The cabin is spacious and comfortable, with a well-equipped kitchen, and beautiful bathroom. The hosts were nice enough to provide us with a tour of the preserve and a fire at night - keep them informed of your preferences and they will be sure to accommodate. We highly recommend this spot.
Primitive River
in Primitive River Farm, GeorgiaChrisâ property is tucked into the Appalachian Mountains of North Georgia and is a wonderful place to set up your tent for the night and enjoy the quiet serenity of the area. Chris is a welcoming host and he will come down to the riverside campsite to greet you but also affords you plenty of peace and quiet. A great section of the Tallulah River runs right by the campsite and there are beautiful trout in the water. A fire ring is set up already and Chris provides firewood at a small fee. Primitive River Camping is a great place to stop by on a road trip or to set up a basecamp for exploring the mountains.
Pioneer Camping: Spring Fed Pond
in Dock Branch Ranch and Forest, North CarolinaKevinâs property is nestled into the hills surrounding Asheville, North Carolina and he has found a really beautiful spot. The land is mostly uncleared but he is working on clearing more sites for campers in the future, and has a workable site ready to go already. Kevin has a beautiful dog and two handsome cows, and is more than willing to show you around on his little homestead. For those HipCampers looking for a more rustic experience without sacrificing on beauty, Roughing it in Barnardsville has incredible views and is true to its name.
