Goat & Sheep Pasture
in Hold the Mayo Farmette, IllinoisWhile driving cross-country with my wife and two little kids, we lucked out by finding hipcamp as an alternative to the roadside hotels and crammed state parks. This stop in Illinois, in a beautiful, mowed pasture on a slight rise that provides excellent sunsets was terrific. My kids were instantly having fun with running around the field and being met by a little family of friendly kittens from the barn. Michael was very nice and accommodating. Definitely recommended.
High Prairie Township
in L&J orchard, MissouriWe were so tired of competing to find and reserve a state park campsite, impossible on weekends, and decided to give hipcamp a try. So glad we did and that we found this beautiful, secluded farm with such a friendly host family! Our kids were thrilled to visit the animals while we enjoyed the scenery and cooked up our camp dinner. The location is pristine Missouri farmland only a few minutes from I-44, down just enough backroads to make you forget the crowds. It was truly a recharge for our cross-country drive.
