Mt. Shasta Ceremonial Site
in Mystical Mount Shasta, CaliforniaAs other reviews have mentioned: This site does not have facilities. But for those that want to get away from such things this is a great spot to pitch the tent, or park your camper. The map is extremely helpful and shows where the property lines are. It is rather tough to turn around at the end of the road to campsite 2, so keep that in mind! Be prepared to be hiking cross country (no trails) but the land is beautiful and if you are looking for great views of Shasta and the valley, this is it. Campsite 1 is close to the road but as the map shows, there are other places! Bring everything you will need (Water, stove, tp, shovel, trashbag, etc) Have a great trip!
Sheep Rock
in Sheep Rock, CaliforniaThis place is awesome. One of my favorites that I have had the pleasure of camping. First off- there are so many options and Christian is a great host who makes sure you are all set for your stay at Sheep Rock. The dispersed camping option is great as you have great views of Mt. Shasta! After watching the Alpine glow on Mt. Shasta you can go on a hike to explore the huge property! On my visit I came across caves, and cliffs with owl pellets at the base. There is so much to explore. Oh and the night sky is amazing! This site is definitely recommended.
A Redwood Wilderness Chalet
in A Redwood Wilderness Chalet, CaliforniaStaying at the Redwood Wilderness Chalet was a great experience! Although it takes a bit of effort to get to the property, it is well worth it. The property has stunning views, and if you are looking for peace and quiet, look no further. Doug was a great host and stays at the chalet during the visit to answer any questions and provide insight into the property. This Chalet has a deep history and has been visited by many, it was a blast learning this. I'd love to come back and visit in the winter! Thanks, Doug!
A Coastal Farm Experience
in Fortunate Farm, CaliforniaI can not say enough great things about my stay at Fortunate Farms. This place embodies the spirit of Hipcamp: An amazing camping opportunity in a beautiful place facilitated by amazing hosts that leave you loving the outdoors and walking away learning something new. (In this case, farming techniques that are making a big difference!)
It was a tremendous experience that has me already planning for next years trip back to the farm. The hosts, Allie, Gowan, Ellen, Jef and the farmers treated us with great respect and always made sure that we felt welcomed and at home. It was nice knowing that our stay and presence was appreciated. It was also a fantastic experience learning how the farm operates and how much it is doing to advance farming techniques for the benefit of our climate and all. Not to mention that the produce grown on the farm is incredible and is a must have addition to your camp meal. Thanks, Gowan!
The campsites are situated in beautiful areas on the farm and provide privacy! Handcrafted and repurposed redwood signs on the property make sure you know exactly where to go. The communal barn is a great touch and is extremely beneficial for preparing meals on the provided stove. The camping experience was also wonderful. You get to fall asleep under an amazing star-filled sky and wake up to the sound of sea lions down on the coast. Yes, the coast is that close! Jug Handle State Reserve is a stones throw away where you can spend the day hiking, laying around on the beach enjoying the waters, or both!
Thank you so much to all at Fortunate Farms for the amazing experience. I can't wait to come back!
Sherwood Forest Camp
in Sherwood Lake Forest, CaliforniaMadrone Tree Hill
in Madrone Tree Hill, CaliforniaMadrone Tree Hill is a great place to camp. Gordon was very thoughtful and made sure I was able to make it to the property. He greeted us on time and made sure that I was aware of the property. We stayed at campsite 2 which offered great privacy as it was tucked away in the trees. The view of the night sky from the open field is spectacular! We were fortunate enough to catch the Milky Way. The property is less than one mile from Jack Russell Brewery where you can try the local beer or play games such a cornhole. The property is also fairly close to Highway 50 which makes it fairly quick and easy to get to from Sacramento if you are looking to escape to the Foothills! There are numerous recreational activities nearby and from what I understand, visiting during the apple season is a must! Thanks. Gordon!
Upper Falls
in Clear Creek Ranch, CaliforniaThis was a great campsite! The waterfall and swimming hole provided a wonderful swimming opportunity in the hot summer sun! The host was very helpful in making sure I was able to make it to the campsite. Would definitely recommended!
