Nestled among five acres of tree-covered hill country, overlooking the Balcones Canyonlands Preserve, Moonbeam the Airstream on Round Mountain Ranch is a perfect retreat for couples, friends and nature lovers.

Wake up to the soothing sounds of nature and cook in the fully stocked kitchen, coffee maker, microwave, spices and much more are included. Wander the many trails on the property or head to Lake Travis, only an 15 minute drive away for boating, hiking and sightseeing. Upon your return, string a hammock in the trees just off the front deck and enjoy an afternoon siesta. Grill dinner on the adjacent charcoal grill and dine alfresco. In the evenings, stroll down to the communal fire pit that overlooks the vernal pond and toast s’mores while gazing at the stars.

The lovingly refurbished 2004 Airstream’s original interior was designed by Christopher Deam, and was one of the first "International CCD" designs. Its compact yet bright and airy with lots of counter space for cooking, dining, playing board games and writing your novel. There’s even a separate desk for additional counter space.

Bring cds or dvds for the upgraded sound system and television. Air conditioning and heating are included. The wet-bath is compact but efficient.

Local activities and attractions within a 10 - 20 minute drive include: touring hill country wineries, hiking in the Balcones Canyonlands Preserve, boating/kayaking on Lake Travis, grocery stores, restaurants & more! If you’re into cycling, Round Mountain Ranch is a perfect location to stage from. There are miles and miles of low traffic, scenic hill country roads to choose from.

I am here to make your stay as pleasant and relaxing as possible, and will generally  be on-site if you need anything. Check out our campsites, Traveleze, and the Hideout also.  Hope to see you soon!

My boyfriend and I have always loved Airstreams, so when we found “Moonbeam” we decided to check it out. I’m not much of a nature girl so “camping” in a trailer seemed like a civilized way to spend a weekend. I’ve not only used Airbnb and HomeAway/VRBO to book my vacations, but I’m also a host, so I know the importance of cleanliness. Moonbeam was spotless! It came fully stocked with dishes, pots and pans, spices, linens, and even a scrabble game.

Not only was the Airstream super cool, but Michael and Sharon’s property was an added bonus. Right next to the camper was a little patio with a charcoal grill/smoker so we cooked up a storm. There’s also a hiking trail through the woods and a great communal fire pit. They told us before we booked that since it was August, the pond would be dry, but it was still plenty beautiful.

Sharon and Michael gave us a tour of what they have planned on their land. They have three additional campsites already, as well as a tiny house they call “the Hideout” that they’re fixing up. They also have a 1954 Traveleze canned ham trailer that they’ll be listing soon. We had a great time at the Round Mountain Ranch, and highly recommend it. And we’ll be back!

Truly amazing experience and we will be returning! Almost hesitant to write a review because I desperately (and selfishly) want to keep this hidden gem available for my own use. However, Michael was such an excellent host he deserves to put Moonbeam on the map. Adorable, well-designed space that is perfect for a weekend getaway. The private deck and fire pit are super cozy- exactly what you're seeking for a weekend in nature. Not far from some nice hiking spots, and Michael is happy to give you directions to get there. Do know that the kitchen is fully stocked with everything from wine glasses to tin foil, we totally over-packed, and these hosts anticipated our every need. Only note is that the hot water really only reaches lukewarm in the winter, so go in the summer or shower before you go. Not a problem for a short weekend trip!

If you're in Austin and want to get away from concrete for a weekend, I found Michael and Sharon's property to be the perfect near-home get-away. It's definitely worth the trip for those coming from other places as well – it's nestled right near a huge wildlife preserve, but still has great access to Austin and other nearby communities.

I was actually blown away by how well thought-out the entire property is. Sharon and Michael have great eyes for detail and have thought of everything you could need. There are stickers throughout the airstream explaning how to use different buttons and gadgets, and there's an instruction manual as well that answers any questions campers may have. This is hands-down the most thoughtful and prepared Hipcamp listing that I have stayed at.

The airsteam itself is close to the main home but still has an incredible sense of privacy, plus the perk of having easy access to the hosts if anything goes wrong or if you need help. There is poor cell service here, so be prepared. We considered this a plus – honestly, it was an incredibly relaxing and much-needed unplugged weekend.

There are other camping and glamping opportunities on the property itself, so I think this would be a great place to come with a group of couples or friends who can congregate around the hiking trails and fire but then retire to their separate campsites and airstream.

I'll continue to think fondly of this airstream and the rejuvenating weekend I had here!

I'm a sucker for this magical fairy lights strung up around the airstream! Some of the small details that make this place so wonderful.Instructions like this are throughout the airstream and make it a much more pleasant experience.Cleaning up dishes as the evening winds down.

Such an amazing property and the Moonbeam Airstream had everything we needed to feel at home. Michael was very accommodating. Felt like we had the place to ourselves with a private fire-pit and dining table outside.

Staying at Round Mountain Ranch was everything we wanted and then some. This airstream is bigger on the inside and so cozy and comfortable. Treat yourself to a nice detox from the city, the nights are silent, chilly, and filled with stars.

Michael was an excellent host and very quick to respond. For New Years he quickly brought us some ice when we realized we forgot to buy it. My girlfriend and I had a great time and I would definitely recommend it for a weekend getaway. The outside is phenomenal and loved doing smores at night. Shower can be a little cold, but totally doable for a short trip. We can't wait to come back!
