The cabins are some of the last old fishing camps from the 1950's that have been remodeled. They are very up to date and come fully furnished. Very spacious and comfortable for a nice relaxing stay. The house is very spacious. So much room to spread out and not be cramped up. Large patio with a table and chairs, gas BBQ grill, very nice large round fire pit, boat ramp if you bring your boat, and fully equipped kitchen.

We had a wonderful time and enjoyed the river. We actually did car camping in one of the RV sites. I would love to explore more of the primitive camping. It was beautiful in the trees. The owners came by often to check, especially after a thunderstorm. We definitely stay again.

The rv sites 1-4 near the water have very little shade. The awnings are not useful as the sites are south facing. Bring additional shade that is flexible for coverage.

Location: site 5. Rating 5. On site property management - awesome and super hospitable. Hiking by the river, awesome. Bring wading boots as the river is shallow enough to walk across. Amazing views! Game warden came by and gave out stickers to kids. Bring off road truck for across the river bed, nice rock trail for it.

We just finished up our overlanding trailer and wanted to find a spot a few hrs away from home to test it out. While Texas really doesn’t have a whole lot of public land, we thought an RV park would be perfect for the first trip. Our neighbors recommended Mason Tx to us and this park came up and looked perfect! Well sure enough it was!! We were immediately greeted upon entry and the gentleman was incredibly nice and helpful! Got to our site (4) and it was beautiful!! Nice and quiet with a gorgeous view! We even had the same helpful lady who answered our phone call, come out and check on us to make sure we were all set before the super cold front came in! 10/10, will definitely be coming back!!

The entire site was extremely clean. All of the hookups were easily accessible. The pull through sites were all leveled with packed caliche which made it very easy to park and level the trailer. The on site hosts are so nice. Overall we would definitely recommend staying here.
The only thing people should be aware of is if you have dogs with longer hair on their feet or tail the grass burs, not stickers, will be an issue if you walk them in the grass. Bring a comb.

I had a great time here! The grounds are beautiful and well kept. Access to the river was excellent. Bathrooms and showers were clean and orderly. Proximity to town was great to get necessary last minute items. I will be back soon!

Very nice park. Site 29 had a water view of the lake. Beautiful grotto-like pool area with hot tub. Excellent infrastructure, appropriate RV voltage at post, good water pressure, good WiFi. Lounge area next to office with TV, games, coffee service, and microwave. Office staff exceptionally friendly and helpful. They also have a rally hall with kitchen available for RV rallies. Cabin rentals also available. Boat ramp and kayak rentals are also available. Located literally next to Buchanan Dam on the north end. This was formerly Big Chief RV Park for years, now under new ownership. Highly recommended.

17 ft pop-up camper
We loved our stay so much! We love that there are different camping options (cabins, RV’s, tents), the location is 10/10 as well! We hiked to Enchanted Rock in the morning and went to Fredericksburg for late lunch and back to our camp for a late afternoon swim. The only thing that we gotta be careful are fishing lines as some of them still have hooks! Kudos to the staff as well for being so helpful and present.
