Description

Isn’t it time to take a McWeekend away from the city? Arrive at McNeil Campground and you can do just that, without much intrusion from neighbors at this lightly used campground. At 34 non-reservable sites, you still have some of the amenities of home with 2 vault toilets (we use the word ‘home’ loosely). But who needs amenities when you’ll be spending most of your day on nearby hiking and backpacking trails, or river and stream fishing for steelhead, chinook and coho salmon. Fish on! For the 411 on off-season accessibility, check the current conditions.

No running water here! But little to no bugs or animals here and decent sized sites. A bit further from Mt. Hood than we wanted but still a really cool first come, first serve site. Clean vault toilets, friendly park service.

Beautiful light and really interesting sites.Green, mossy terrain. You could hear the nearby stream.

This was a great campground we found on an impromptu trip to Mt. Hood on a holiday weekend, which usually equals disaster when looking for an available campsite. McNiel Campground is situated a little further from the rest of the campgrounds making it a little more private and the campsites were generously sized! Just a short walk away will take you to a nice little river as well.
