It’s been said that the best things in life can be hard to reach, and that’s certainly true of Notch Cabin. You’ll need a hardy vehicle to reach the cabin, but the reward will be entirely worth the extra hassle. The cabin isn’t all that fancy—it’s teeny tiny, doesn’t have a lot of amenities, and is perfect for a two-person foray into the wilderness. You and your main squeeze/BFF/that-guy-from-the-office-who-also-likes-to-hunt (or, go it solo!) will have your choice of outdoor recreation to choose from. Big game hunters love it as a basecamp for hunting season, and the 40-mile Snowcrest Trail is less than a mile away. Spend a day hiking, do a longer backpacking trip, or saddle up the horses and explore on four hooves. Regardless, the mountain scenery you’ll see will have you snapping pics like crazy.
