Located within 45 minutes of the wine country and 2 miles from the coast, our property is 400 acres of rolling hills and redwood groves, with a creek running along its base. With miles of trails meandering through quiet woods and meadows, you will be able to revel in the tranquility of a private preserve, without sacrificing easy access to some of Sonoma County's most famous attractions. A hundred years ago, this land was used to graze sheep. Remnants of the old fence lines can still be seen in places, along with old cement troughs. Since then, the land has been left to its own devices, passing through many hands, most famously owned by two brothers in the 1980's who built a truly amazing tree house in the forest which has been featured in several magazine articles. It was revamped and updated in 2016 by a master craftsman, using fallen redwood logs found on the property and is now a unique structural work of art, available for overnight stays. We produce 100% grass fed, dry-aged beef on our certified organic pastures and have a store on site if you would like to purchase delicious steaks, ribs, ground beef for hamburgers or some roasts to take home. Our cattle graze on the native grasses, never grain, and drink only water produced from our own springs. We also raise Kiko meat goats and produce pastured, certified organic duck eggs on a commercial basis. Whether it's surfing at sandy beaches, award-winning clam chowder, a wine tour, horseback riding or a hot air balloon ride you're after, you won't have far to drive if you make our ranch your base camp. You may see a family of deer appear suddenly, or a few Scottish Highland cows which we allow to roam freely over the property. There are over twenty species of wild birds that grace this protected spot, so bring your binoculars! A portion of your fee goes towards protecting native flora and fauna as part of our private wildlife preservation program. A limited number of private, widely spaced camp spots are available for visitors. The Eagles' Nest Treehouse (mentioned above) is very isolated and you may or may not even be aware that there are other people within miles of you. For those who value nature, seclusion, quiet and the artistry of old growth redwood, this is the place for you.

Redwood Camp #1 is a huge redwood grove with maximum privacy and serenity next to Salmon Creek on a 400 acre working ranch with livestock, pasture, forest and miles of hiking trails. NOTE: You need 4WD or AWD. Camper vans with 4WD, and lightweight pop-up or teardrop trailers are OK with a heavy 4WD tow vehicle. If you need to be towed back up the hill, AAA won't help. NOTE regarding summer bookings: During Red Fire Alerts or times when dry conditions make fires dangerous, we will ban campfires at our sites. Propane stoves are OK for cooking, but not as a heat source.  If your group is larger than 4, please utilize the additional person feature; each of the 3 sites can ccommodate a max of 6 campers including children. Early check in and late check out are sometimes possible—but check with us first. The Eagle's Nest Treehouse offers a secluded and tranquil experience in the middle of a private forest. On some nights, you can see all the stars since the lights of civilization are so far away. And when the wind blows a certain way, you can hear distant fog horns and waves crashing on the spectacular Sonoma coast. Located on a 400-acre working ranch, we are near San Francisco, California's premier wine-growing regions and some of California's most breathtaking seascapes. During the day, you can hike our miles of forest trails and never run into another person. You can check out the flora and fauna residing among the ferns, redwood trees and rolling pasture lands and then roast some of our ranch products, all grown right here, over the barbecue located at ground level. You can also explore the ranch operation, which includes Scottish Highland cattle, goats, ducks, geese and the livestock guardian dogs who protect them all. If you like a really hands-on experience, you can help us herd the ducks in at night or come along in the UTV to help with evening chores.  Think seclusion, privacy, peacefulness and nature.  Securely nestled high above the forest floor between two towering Douglas Firs, the large redwood deck of the Eagle’s Nest is accessed via a spiral staircase and a 40 ft suspension bridge. Once inside, the rich grain of the old growth redwood floor, walls and ceiling is astounding. Residential standards of construction throughout include two sets of 8 ft high French doors, sliding windows, a queen size bed, electricity for lights, separate bathroom, hot and cold water, sink, and an amazing copper-lined shower with floor to ceiling windows looking out on the forest below. A heater and the insulated walls, floor and ceiling keep the interior cozy. Note if you have extra people above the 2 it is designed for, plan on paying the extra person fee for each whether adult or child, and providing somewhere for them to sleep, either on the floor, a tent or bed outside on the deck, or in the picnic spot on the ground.

Had a lovely time recharging here on John and Lesley's land. The instructions and guidance they provided were super detailed directions so it was quite easy to get to and we knew what to expect. The spot was nice (though next time I'd love to stay on the Redwood side) and the porta potty was super clean and smell free. Visiting the Mercantile was a bit of an adventure and I loved the set up inside filled with so much history and personality of the owners and the ranch. I bought some duck eggs and want to try some of the meats next time. Seeing the animals so happy and protected felt so good for my soul, too. I'm so glad John and Lesley have opened up their land in this way. I'm a Bay Area native but I doubt I would have been able to experience this if not for this this platform and the people willing to share their worlds with others.

What a wonderful weekend. Fri-Sunday. 2 adults + 4yo girl. Contained camping area and safe for littles. You’ll have to keep an eye around poison oak but we only saw some on the lovely hike up to the farm. For the creek crossing, you’ll need to bring boots or go barefoot… or piggyback across via the Daddy train. Super simple camping. We had fire wood, duck eggs and fresh beef delivered. We had to thaw the beef so we had it night 2 and it was soooooooo delicious. Oh and the porter potty was super clean and stocked with tissue. We will definitely be back soon! :) it was a perfect weekend disconnected! Minimal service and no WiFi 🙌🏾

We loved how lush and cozy this spot was. Creekside camp #3 was very private. The deck overlooking the creek was a nice bonus area and we had ample room for our setup, which included a small campervan and a large shelter for our group to cook. Bathroom was well-kept and access to the site was easy. We enjoyed a hike up to the farm for some exploring, and had fun checking out the creek. I’d love to stay again especially at the Redwood sites across the creek— they have a nice spacious meadow which looks gorgeous too.

Redwood Camp #1 at Salmon Creek Ranch was one of the best sites I've ever stayed at near the SF Bay Area. It was a giant space nestled in a beautiful redwood grove. Other sites were relatively spread out, so felt pretty private. I'd gladly return.

It’s a great camping site, right next to the creek and a bit more privacy! All is great, the only thing to note is that it’s nearby a very noisy bridge so whenever a car passes through, you will be able to hear it. But overall, their farm property is spectacular! Would definitely come back to explore the other campsites!

Lesley and John were so kind and thoughtful, and they sent us all the helpful information we needed before our stay. Because of their clear communication, we were able to arrive feeling comfortable and at ease. Our group of three — my husband, our friend, and I — stayed for one night, and we truly enjoyed the magical and beautiful forest, the open meadow, the sweet farm atmosphere, and the lovely river. There was so much beautiful nature to take in. The toilet and campfire area were also very clean and well maintained, which made our stay even more comfortable. We would love to stay here again. We are very grateful to both Lesley and John. Thank you so much!

A well kept campground. Six total sites nicely spaced out and all very clean. The owners are very polite and respond to any questions very promptly. The road down to the sites def needs AWD/4WD so don't brush that off.

Overall we enjoyed our time at salmon creek. The site was very close to the road and the path in for other campers so it wasn’t very private, but it was a very close walk to the creek which was nice. A beautiful spot in the wilderness but for what the campsite was I wouldn’t pay the same high price again.

It is a very large piece of property, well off the beaten path. It is like you were transported into a rainforest in South America, with lush plants all around you. If you’re looking to relax, and get back to nature, this is the place to be.

What an impressive listing. Truly a magical experience! We unfortunately only stayed 1 night due to travel dates, but it was gorgeous. Directions were clear & helpful, and John was super quick to respond. When we arrived, John was there to greet us and led us to treehouse to show us the ropes. He was genuine and friendly, which was comforting. Waking up in the morning was like waking up as a creature in a tree. It was raining which added to the excitement. It was enchanting, peaceful, dreamy, & beautiful. The bed was comfortable, the shower was great, and our dog had a blast exploring the surrounding forest. 10/10 would recommend this place to anyone looking for a unique experience!! 10/10 loved our stay and we’d definitely return. we camped in Redwood Camp #1, which is tucked in a deep dark redwood grove in the edge of a meadow and creek. Other camp sites were a good distance away. There was a very clean porta-potty nearby. We ordered steaks and eggs from the ranch market place and they were amazing.

2nd time staying here and my first time at Redwood Camp #2. Farm shop was awesome as always. Suggest buying your firewood from them ahead of time. Note that it's mostly softwood, so it might be wise to order extra. Site #2 was cool and I think I would have preferred #1 or #3 for the next trip.

Overall, the hosts were very accommodating. Their listing and/or instructions need to be changed to include that fact that even if you have a 4wd vehicle, you need a high clearance to drive down to the campsites. Luckily their vehicle was available to rent for a nominal fee and we appreciate that. The campsite however, was not the one we expected according to the pictures on Hipcamp. It looks like the photo of the site is the campsite next to ours. We expected a different experience. The site was quite wet due to the moisture in the air and it being on grass so it was muddy and our feet were wet. We thought it was in amongst the redwood grove. The porta -pody was very clean.

Creekside Camp #2
Great spot! Loved it, though other camps are just as nice for lower price. Creekside #1 & 2 are separated by a lovely redwood grove. Both are close to the road, but nobody drove between dusk and 7:30am. The creek itself is lovely, we spent much of the day in the cool shade skipping rocks.

Redwood Camp #1
We absolutely loved our stay at Salmon Creek Ranch. The property is stunningly beautiful, and it felt like there was a new hidden gem to discover around every corner. The Redwood #1 campsite feels nice and private, and the grove of redwood trees block the chilly night breeze, and I imagine would keep you nice and cool in the warmer summer months. We highly recommend and would love to return some day.

Absolutely, beautiful place to camp. Really nice porta potty. The creek was full and close by which was lovely. Went up to the Mercantile shop. It’s stocked with all sorts of great things like duck eggs, and frozen meats. Really can’t wait to go back. We stayed at Creekside number one, which was fantastic, but I’m excited to try the redwood campsites next

Eagle's Nest Treehouse Farmstay
The Eagles Nest and Salmon Creek Ranch are absolutely magical!! If you get the opportunity to visit and stay please do so!! We stayed for two nights our time was a fairy tale! From our walks in the forest to the river, having lunch in the pasture hanging with the highland cows, eating the delicious meat at there little store and staying in the trees! It was all absolute perfection! John and Lesley are fabulous hosts and the entire experience was incredible! We will be back many more times!!!
