Meadow Farm and Forest is a quiet sanctuary surrounded by the forest. The ocean breezes freshen the air and the pulse of the planet is heard as the surf sounds travel to put us to rest at night.. We are a place for people experimenting with the new and old ways to live with low-impact and conservation of our precious resources. We offer affordable accommodations, organic gardening, and education on plants and living simply. We welcome your interest in veganic garden and diet, orchards, and forest trails. Our organic vegetables and fruit may be available if you wish to bring some of our farm to your table. We can offer you a quiet and peaceful place without social pressures if you wish to "decompress" from city life, jobs or any stressful times. Or come to the communal fire near the bathhouse for sharing some time with family and the few other campers that may be there. Bringing your own wood is welcome. The coastal bike and hike trails are many. From South of Ft Bragg to the Sand Dunes near Ward Ave. you can travel over 7 miles one way and go down to quiet little beach coves along the way. Meadow Farm is a nonprofit 501c3 with goals of coastal food security, disaster preparation and sheltering, carbon sequestering and forest restoration. We offer native plant tours on or off site with advance notice. We like our dog companions! Two McNab collies, Moxie and Shama live here and may bark at first...still very friendly and social with people (gentle with children) and other dogs.. There are several dog friendly off-leash areas such as, Noyo North Harbor Beach, Seaside Beach and dog parks in both Ft Bragg and Mendocino. Our farm is dog friendly tho we wish pets to be kept close, must be neutered and friendly to other dogs and people. Please be sure to bag dog waste. Speaking of waste, Meadow Farm strives to reduce waste by avoiding plastic as much as possible, recycling what we can and composting our veggie scraps. Please bring your own waste receptacles and take them along when you go. We take ours to the Caspar Transfer Station which is open Saturday through Wednesday... the location and hours can be found online. Our water is from a deep well with a solar pump and is cold and delicious. New are ozone and UV treatment in our storage tanks. Our irrigation pipes that have spigots and hoses at each camp are safe for drinking, cooking and cleaning. Please be sure to fully turn off the valve, timer and hose lever or we could lose hundreds of gallons in a short time. If you see a leak or break in a line please contact us immediately. There are also water shuts levers for the camps on the west side of the Farm House if you are unable to reach us right away.. When doing dishes we request that you use the strainer to catch food particles from the dish water and toss them in your trash or compost bucket. If you have vegetable waste let us know and we can pick them up for adding to the worm bins or composting piles. We make worm "tea" fertilizer and rich soil from these offerings. No animal products or oil please... a few egg shells are okay. We do have the usual wildlife though we haven't had problems with them. Ravens will raid your camp if food or bags are left out while you are away. From dusk to dawn keep children and pets close. We coexist well here with the critters...and glad to have them. Open to expansive views of the meadow, garden, sky and sunshine this site also has trees to nestle under for shade and relaxation. Turkeys may roam around or perhaps you'll find a feather or a Turkey Tail mushroom growing on a log nearby. The area is level for camping in an RV, trailer or tent. A picnic table and water is ready for your use. A spigot with potable water is at each site. A table is provided. A new bathhouse with composting toilet and hot shower is close by. All three of our Meadow's Edge campsites have views of our large producing organic garden. The sites have a place for one vehicle to park. If there is a second vehicle it can be unloaded and left in a safe parking area nearby. During this dry time of year we restrict fires to only one communal area on the farm. So if you wish to bring your guitar or marshmallows then this is a good place for hanging out with residents or fellow hipcampers. Just let us know you want this and we will help to make it happen. Firewood and starter material are welcome.

Red Tail Hawk is a specious and level camp site nestled with its back to the forest and open to views, sun and night magic of stars and moon toward the East. You are likely to see a big bird with a rust-colored tail heading into the woods near you after hunting up a gopher in the meadow. This site has sun the longest. It is best for van or tent vs larger RV. A potable water spigot and a table are in each site. We have a communal fire area. Bring a comfy camp chair and marshmallows. See you soon.

Early Spring rains can cause us to close this site. So far we are well into a dry spell and feel optimistic about hosting campers in the near future. Blue Heron is a specious and level camp site nestled with its back to the forest and open to views, sun and night magic of stars and moon toward the East. Look around during the early morning or evening and see if you spot Blue Heron standing still over a gopher hole in the meadow. A water spigot and table are there for your use. A bathhouse with composting toilet and hot shower is close by. All three of our Meadow's Edge campsites have views of our large producing organic garden. The sites have a place for one vehicle to park. A second vehicle could be managed but nicer if it can be unloaded and left in a safe parking area nearby. Do to fire restrictions we offer a campfire in one communal area on the farm near the camp. So if you wish to bring your guitar or marshmallows then this is a good place for hanging out and maybe meeting residents or fellow Hipcampers. Just let us know you want this and we will help to make it happen. Bring some wood and starter material. (often sold in bundle in town)

Cozy Cabin at The Garden

The Cozy Cabin:  ( If you book this Cabin please read this throughly. :) This is really a cheery and comfy little bedroom cabin See the garden through your window at this little bedroom cabin. The Cabin lives up to its name "Cozy". It is perfect for a solo or couple’s weekend getaway.  Surrounded by the peaceful meadow and garden it feels like you’re in the middle of the countryside...which you are...however, the town and ocean are just a couple of minutes away. If you read no more: Please bring queen size bedding and towels. If you forget or can't provide your own let us know as soon as possible. Please take your trash/recycle when you vacate. Bring flashlights! This is the only place on the farm that has use of the Community house (modest) bathroom and communal resident kitchen (about 75' away from the cabin). (as of 10/25/24 we are replacing the water heater, so hot showers are at the camp bathhouse until the plumber can do it) The kitchen is for light use and plant-based foods only. (storage, prep or eating). In other words. please do not bring animal products,  A picnic table could be used to prepare your food with your camp stove. We have provided the cabin with a small fridge and an electric tea pot and cups. The town of Ft Bragg is just a couple of miles away and provides a wide variety of menus.  The Cozy Cabin has the bed, a chest of drawers, and a bookshelf for your use. The Cabin is decorated with artwork using natural materials. A small electric heater adds the warmth first thing in the morning, if needed. The woodstove became a safety issue and always made the place too hot for comfort anyway, so it is there but not used at this time. On the small porch of the cabin you have the opportunity to journal, draw, or just enjoy the forest view. You can often spot a deer, turkeys or a rabbit from there.  You might want to bring camp chairs for outside the cabin..  You can charge some electric devices in the Cabin. It is on a solar array iwhich we have upgraded recently. It is still good to be prepared with flashlights and batteries or solar lanterns. We have solar lights along the path to the house. A little more about Meadow Farm: The cabin sits inside a 6-Acre Agricultural Easement, we call The Meadow, surrounded by tall trees. This 28 acres is under the direction of a Vision, Mission and Aims and a board of directors of this 501c3 nonprofit. You can find out more about our working veganic farm in a search for at Meadow Farm. org.  Also "Word of Mouth [xxxxxxxx] magazine featured Meadow Farm this Fall 2022 issue. A copy to view is in the top dresser drawer. We are honored to have a great variety of wildlife around the farm. You can spot or hear wild turkeys, deer, eagles, hawks, birds of all kinds, rabbits, foxes and many more - often right from the cabin windows.  The property is quiet. At night you can fall asleep with the sounds of the ocean surf, owl hoots and maybe coyotes in the distance..  We are fortunate to share a home with bears and mountain lions, too. Though we rarely see or know they are here. They want to leave us alone but keeping food secure in your vehicle is a good policy. Please be aware of your surroundings especially at night. A strong flashlight and a look around is a good policy. We receive delicious, fresh water from a well on the property and make use of solar power for our daily electricity needs. We value conserving water. So report any leaks, take short showers and turn off the faucet when brushing teeth...you know the drill!.  A campfire is only permitted in one area of the farm and may be shared with other campers and residents. Please ask in advance if this is something you would like. Please do not hesitate to message us if you have further questions. We warmly welcome you to be our guests at Meadow Farm.

Jo's Little Meadow Cabin/Group site

Jo's Cabin camp is in a small private meadow surrounded by Redwood trees and a perfect setting to stargaze and enjoy nature. This was the favorite place for Joanna, the Founder of Meadow Farm Community Land Trust. The cabin is rustic but easier for some than a tent...so come and enjoy the quiet beauty of Jo's Meadow. Please read: Jo's little rustic cabin is a good fit for one or two people. It does not have electricity. A double latex mattress with light cover is on the bed .Please bring your own bedding and towels. Consider it camping with a cabin for a tent and a a bed! If you don't bring bedding please let us know. This off-grid farm does not have a laundry..so an extra fee will be for providing, delivering bedding and laundering. Thanks for your understanding Level areas outside are perfect for pitching tents and the parking area can accommodate small RVs or Vans. An outhouse enclosed shower has hot water. A composting toilet is a short walk from the cabin. The small meadow has two picnic tables and a food prep area with a cold water sink. It is open to the elements. You may drink the well water from the sink. Our policies prevents us from offering a campfire area at each site. We can at times offer a communal campfire in the meadow with hose, shovel and to use with great caution. We are at times able to offer a small fire pit with a spark cover Jo/s Little Meadow Camp to use with the same caution. Bring some firewood and starter if you want to use it. Never leave it unattended. We reserve the right to call a fire ban when the wind, dryness or county authorities deem it unsafe. We are experimenting with having this be a group site for up to 12 people. Please First share your plans with me and we will discuss if we can make it happen. Please note that Meadow Farm is not a destination for party groups using alcohol, drugs and smoking. We welcome nature lovers who are seeking a quiet refuge. So if you are used to primitive camping or want to give it a good try....come and make yourself at home in this beautiful, quiet and private place on the planet. We had a wonderful stay at the cabin! We saw shooting stars, and right when we arrived, we spotted a bunch of banana slugs, which completely delighted our son. The next day we Sojourna took us on the garden tour and learned so much about the plants and their gardening practices. We even brought home some incredibly tasty vegetables! We left happy and can’t wait to come back next year!

Beautiful farm and super comfortable hip camp! I love the location (just North of Glass Beach) and still set in the forest with access to multiple trails that were fun to explore. We enjoyed the star gazing in the meadow around a comfortable community fire pit. Louisa was a fantastic guide in the garden and forest. We appreciated her kindness and plant knowledge. And the veggies/fruits-especially the strawberries were perfect! I havent tasted such rich juicy strawberries in over a decade! The composting toilet was the cleanest one I've ever used and the shower was warm and perfect! I felt so bougie for tent camping. Sojourna and Meadow Farm has cultivated a wonderful experience for its visitors! We are already planning on returning!

Cozy Cabin at The Garden
Cute and tranquil getaway! We stayed at the Cozy Cabin and it matched our expectations from the reviews and descriptions - small (but not tight), clean and tidy, and quiet. Easy access to the flush toilet and shower in the community house (less than a minute walk away). Facilities were clean. No biting bugs. If you do need absolute darkness to sleep, be sure to bring a sleep mask - the curtains are sheer. Really neat to learn about Meadow farm from the bits of info throughout the property. Sojourna stopped by to say hi — she was very responsive over message (esp because we were rolling in late and was concerned about finding the cabin in the dark) and lovely to meet in person.

Sojourna's instructions were clear and helpful! The site was easy to access. It didn't have a lot of tree cover, but we only used the site to sleep, so heat wasn't an issue for us. The porta potty on site was clean and well maintained. My husband really appreciated the opportunity to have a night away together ❤️

We had a wonderful stay at Red Tail Hawk Camp with our rooftop tent and SUV. Our family of five my wife, our three daughters ages 4, 10, and 11, and me really enjoyed the peaceful and natural setting. The campsite was quiet, relaxing, and surrounded by beautiful forest. It was the perfect place to disconnect, slow down, and spend quality time together as a family. We especially enjoyed hearing the ocean in the distance at night and waking up to the fresh coastal air. One of the highlights of our stay was picking fresh vegetables and fruit to bring home. Our daughters loved the experience, and it made the trip feel even more special. We also appreciated the farm’s focus on sustainability, organic gardening, and caring for the environment. Red Tail Hawk Camp was a great fit for our rooftop tent setup, and we felt comfortable throughout our stay. We left feeling refreshed and grateful for the experience. We would definitely recommend this campsite to families looking for a peaceful, unique, and memorable camping getaway.

The location is perfect as it was very convenient to explore the coast and go back to the campground after time out. However the sites are really close to each-other so less privacy and you're facing the farm directly. It was a bit confusing with whats on their site and whats on their campground signage. The firepit work required to create a fire at the community firepit was not worth the effort. The site mentioned a speed limit of 8mph however every visitor to the farm was going 15mph so its pretty hypocritical to ask one thing and do the opposite. I had a few encounters with the organizers of the campground that just didn't feel great to me or welcoming. I was told a list of things they requested for me to use the community firepit, it felt like a ton of info for their benefit and ease of mind over my stay completely and it felt quite uncomfortable.

Jo's Little Meadow Cabin/Group site
I highly recommend purchasing the farm fresh vegetables! I wish we had gotten more to take home. Our stay was everything we needed it to be. It was far enough away from everything, we felt tucked in to yet close enough to town and the ocean we had it all! It was so nice being in a place our dog was welcome and safe. Our campsite was great, we loved having fresh running water in a sink!

We had an amazing time - this is a true ‘HipCamp’ - personal, small and just a great place. We lived our site, the showers are outdoors and amazing. Being able to wander through the garden, having great conversations and meeting amazing people is what we were hoping for - all came true. 10/10

Just enough distance east of Hwy 1 that made for sunny mornings. We enjoyed the occasional train sounds. Perfect spot and hook ups for my 16 foot Scamp. Dog was happy.
