in Kiowa National Grassland, New MexicoThere are two campgrounds, one upper and one lower. The lower requires four wheel drive but is well worth the trip. The Canadian river runs thru the lower and it is less populated.

The better campground is Camp Dick which you access by driving through Peaceful Valley. All fill up fast in the summer months due to the proximity to Boulder and Denver.

in Pike National Forest, ColoradoGreat trout fishing along the creek and at at the beaver ponds. There are three campgrounds in the area and all are secluded. As usual with Colorado reservations are needed.

in Coconino National Forest, ArizonaGreat campground along Oak Creek. Reservations are needed pretty much all year. The campground is along 89A a pretty busy road with traffic between Sedona and Flagstaff. Great hikes across the road.

in Medicine Bow National Forest, WyomingBusy in the summer, empty in the fall and spring during the cold months. Great rock climbing, hiking and fishing. Watch out for firearms shooting in the area.
