Past trips
Stargazer Lane @ Monarch Retreat
in Mars F.’s Land, Coloradoin Kiowa National Grassland, New Mexico
There are two campgrounds, one upper and one lower. The lower requires four wheel drive but is well worth the trip. The Canadian river runs thru the lower and it is less populated.
in Roosevelt National Forest, Colorado
The better campground is Camp Dick which you access by driving through Peaceful Valley. All fill up fast in the summer months due to the proximity to Boulder and Denver.
in Pike National Forest, Colorado
Great trout fishing along the creek and at at the beaver ponds. There are three campgrounds in the area and all are secluded. As usual with Colorado reservations are needed.
in Grand Mesa National Forest, Colorado
Good trout fishing along the creek and nice hikes. As usual with Colorado reservations are needed.
in Pike National Forest, Colorado
Great access to Lost Creek wilderness.
in Coconino National Forest, Arizona
Great campground along Oak Creek. Reservations are needed pretty much all year. The campground is along 89A a pretty busy road with traffic between Sedona and Flagstaff. Great hikes across the road.
in Curt Gowdy State Park, Wyoming
Busy in the summer. Great access to mountain biking and fishing at the reservoirs.
in Medicine Bow National Forest, Wyoming
Busy in the summer, empty in the fall and spring during the cold months. Great rock climbing, hiking and fishing. Watch out for firearms shooting in the area.
