We hesitate to write the stellar review we are about to bc we don't want Loony Jeanne's to be full so much we can never get back there!
Where to begin. We can't recommend a stay at Jeanne and Walt's place enough. Everything from top to bottom is perfect and they were very conscientious and lovely hosts. We had no troubles finding the place and were really shocked at how private, quiet and light pollution free the property was. There are neighbors but they are (in leaf season) totally hidden behind the tree living curtains and far enough off that we didn't even recognize they were there. Jeanne and Walt left a personalized welcome packet with details about the area and were on call to answer any questions we had right away when we checked in. We met Jeanne the morning we were leaving and it was really fun talking with her - she's a great host and very warm and caring.
The set-up J&W have put together is extraordinary - we will have a very difficult time going back to state park camping. There's a really great open kitchen under an open barn roof with perfectly lit solar lights. They have thought of every detail needed in the kitchen - water holders, soap, sponges, spices, battery lamps, plates, cups, cutlery, cooking pans - you don't need to bring anything except your sleep set up, food, oil and a cooler.
Three Coleman lamps with supplies of propane. Double grill camp stove. Two firepits with tons of extremely well seasoned wood! The outhouse is actually really serene and is quite nicely decorated. J&W had put up helpful stakes around the property for tent pitch suggestions - you can also set up on a platform. The outdoor shower is AWESOME and very hot. We didn't get a chance to try the sauna bc it was a hot hot weekend but J&W left detailed instructions for its use.
There were virtually no mosquitoes - the ponds are spring water fed and constantly refreshing so no standing water. We found just one tick the whole visit.
Speaking of the ponds - the swimming pond is AMAZING. The water is nice and refreshing and they built the whole place so there's details like a jumping off rock and a climbing out of the water step. There's a kayak, canoe, noodles, floating chaise lounge, fins and snorkels. There's fishing poles and blueberry bushes and raspberry bushes. Theres a greenhouse with terrific lettuce and tomatoes J&W welcome you to.
We really want to thank Walt and Jeanne for welcoming us to their property and creating such a magical experience. We can't wait to come back and we really recommend their place.
