Past trip
in Superior National Forest, MinnesotaI have been here three times in the last four years... Personally I find campsite 21 to be the best out of the whole bunch because it is high off the lake but also has a private stair and a rock dock down at lake access.
There are five vault toilets at the campground and two spots to get water but note that these are turned off and locked when the campground is closed for the season.
New as of 2020 is the locking cattle gates that keep you from getting to the campsites out of season, too... something I hope the USFS will explain to me because even out of season USFS campsites are supposed to be usable.
I will post photos of each campsite when I have a chance.
Past trip
in Grand Portage State Forest, MinnesotaWord of warning:
1) NO WATER. There is no potable water source at the campsite. You must pack in your own water or be prepared to treat the lake water.
2) Bring TP. While it is 'maintained' by the Judge Magney SP crew when I was there this past week it was out of TP for three of the five days. (and might still be - it was the last three days I was there).
3) The big site that is the first left and left when you come in is close to roadway. It can get noisy.
So there are 7 campsites here.
As you come in #1 is on the right, 2 is the big site on the left, 3 is just past it on the left (behind the vault toilet), 4 and 5 are to the right of the vault toilet (and connected to each other) and 6 and 7 are down near the dock and also conn'd.
Ryan hasn't gone on any trips yet.
Hipcamp Hosts can leave an optional review of their Hipcampers after the trip is completed. This is where those reviews from Hipcamp Hosts will appear.
