Past trips
Limekiln Lake Campground
in Adirondack State Park, New YorkAn isolated gem in the heart of the Adirondack's Fulton Chain.
Beaverkill Campground
in Catskill State Park, New YorkBest campground around for trout fishing!
Fish Creek Pond Campground
in Adirondack State Park, New YorkMost of the campsites ate waterfront and closer together than some parks.
Bowman Lake Campground
in Bowman Lake State Park, New YorkLarge park with spacious campsites. The Finger Lakes Trail passes through the park offering several hiking opportunities. A great day hike would be to the Berry Hill Fire Tower atop a nearby hill.
Hilltop Campground
in Gilbert Lake State Park, New YorkHilltop is like a small community where neighbors become fast friends and the sounds of crackling fires and children playing fill the evening air.
Sampson State Park Campground
in Sampson State Park, New YorkLarge park occupying the former Sampson Navel Training Center during WWII and , later, the Sampson Air Force Training Center during the Korean War. Most of the buildings are gone but there is a museum operated by veterans with artifacts of the park's prior use. Beautiful sunsets over Seneca Lake and surrounded by Finger Lakes wineries. A fun park.
Chenango Valley State Park Campground
in Chenango Valley State Park, New YorkOne of my favorites. There are plenty of trails around two of the park's glacier formed lakes plus the nearby Chenango River. The river is also home to a growing bald eagle population.
Limekiln Campground
in Limekiln State Park, CaliforniaLake Harris Campground
in Adirondack State Park, New YorkLove this place! It is remote and in the heart of the Adirondack High Peaks. It's just a twenty minute drive to Tahawus, a 19th century iron mining/smelting town. Tahawus (meaning "cloud splitter") is also the trailhead for hikes to many of the high peaks including New York's tallest, Mt. Marcy,
Kring Point State Park Campground
in Kring Point State Park, New YorkMy boyhood favorite! It's a peninsula jutting out into the St. Lawrence River. Sit on the rocks around the fire as the sun goes down in blazing glory over the river. The river is also an International waterway featuring freight bearing ships traveling from ports within the Great Lakes to destinations throughout the globe.
