Idyllwild Camp
in Idyllwild Camp, CaliforniaHad a great stay! The bathroom/common area was especially nicer than expected, and the hosts were flexible with our large vehicle situations. Thanks!
Evelynâs Big Bear Forest - Off-Road
in Evelynâs Joshua Tree Oasis, CaliforniaBig bear views
Very cool and spacious spot (site 1) up a very rough driveway. Great little niche spot with great views. Highly recommend 4x4 and making sure thereâs no snow on the ground before going.
Previous reviews were spot on. There is a very narrow gate to be aware of. The site is very rocky, so be prepared with a thick sleeping pad, cot, trailer, etc. No fires. We were self contained, but I never saw a port-a-potty, so maybe itâs gone for the winterâŚnot sure.
All of the above was âas advertisedâ, and in alignment with our expectations, so we thoroughly enjoyed it and had a fantastic stay!
Matern Farms Campsite

in Beautiful Views Tipi, ColoradoGreat host with a great spot!
Wow! Chuckâs hospitality was great, the tipi was super cool, and the views did not disappoint! Accommodations were as advertised. Highly recommend!
CASTLE CREEK: in OAK CREEK CANYON
in Susan C.âs Land, ArizonaCanyon location canât be beat.
Great location in Oak Creek Canyon. Close(ish) to the road but still quiet and secluded. We stayed off the grid, but power (15a) and water (hose for tank fills) were available. Might be back in the fall!
Coyote Crossing
in Coyote Crossing, TexasHipcamp gold!
This place was a treasure after driving all the way from the east coast! If you want to feel like youâre camping in the backcountry, only one mile from terlingua, this is the spot! The views (especially sunsets and stargazing) are awesome, and Rob is a great host.
I recommend arriving for the first time in the daylight as itâs difficult to get your bearings in the dark. Also, a high(er) clearance vehicle will be able to access the back of the property with some of the better campsites. This might be doable in a smaller car but could be risky.
Coyote Crossing

in Sky High Ridge RV Campground, North CarolinaSimple beautiful mountaintop camp
Very simple RV campground. No bathhouse (as expected), but water, electric, and sewer were modern and worked great. Sites are fairly close, but still felt pretty private. There are steep roads required to get to the campground and some fairly tight maneuvers within the campground, so beware of winter weather and big rigs, respectively.
Great views through the trees after the leaves have fallen, and very convenient to Sky Valley, Dillard, or Clayton. Our site had a picnic table, and fires were allowed, but it would have been nice to have fire rings to prevent fires from potentially spreading.
Host (Peter) was responded quickly, was very friendly, and was very accommodating.
In short, we loved this simple mountain top spot! Weâll be back!
in Pisgah National Forest, North Carolina
FYI, there is a creek crossing to get to the campsite. Small vehicles be warned!
