Past trip
in Arcadia Valley Outdoors Land, MissouriLovely site but maybe not for quiet
This was a really pretty campsite. I loved the forested area and how the tent sites and fire pit was configured. However, this was not as quiet as we would have thought. Camped on a Thursday and Friday night, and the noise of dogs barking, traffic due to a road close by, and a train that definitely blared its horn a lot disturbed our sleep quite a bit. The second night the other camp sites filled up but thankfully things were a lot quieter thanks to the rain we experienced. It has a mountain biking trail you can access from the sites, which was really neat. The host was super friendly and helpful.
Past trip
Barn Trail
in Monarch Hill Vineyard, MissouriBeautiful campsite and property!
First off, the campsite, the service, the host, the property--everything was just as we had hoped and we could not have asked for better weather when we stayed. Darrell was more than accommodating and made sure to attend to all our needs; we really appreciated him coming to greet us after he got off of work! That said, it might be wise to reserve when the campsites are not so busy. Our night was marred because of the other campers, most of whom were fine--but a few of them stayed up past 2 a.m. drinking and being very loud, playing the radio, and we asked them multiple times to quiet down. Obviously, this is not the fault of the host or the site at all! Just be aware that there are many vineyards/wineries nearby and other campers may be less prone to courtesy while under the influence. Beyond that, we hope to stay again. We have 5 kids and they absolutely loved roaming the property with a freedom they don't have in town. Without the disturbances, this site is peaceful and the view of the stars was exquisite! We heard coyotes howling and cows, otherwise, it would have been utterly peaceful. Darrell makes the primitive sites as workable and comfortable as could be wished. We had a very workable toilet situation, a large table made ready to use, the fire pit was perfect, and anything else we would need was there.
Nicholette hasn't gone on any trips yet.
Hipcamp Hosts can leave an optional review of their Hipcampers after the trip is completed. This is where those reviews from Hipcamp Hosts will appear.
