Past trip
in Lil Bit O' Heaven Camping, WashingtonMy partner and I loved our stay at Little Bit of Heaven Campground! The near by town was a great to grab some food and drink if we didnât want to cook in camp. The sound of the rushing river put us right to sleep. North Cascades was an easy drive from the site!
Past trip
in Grand Canyon National Park, ArizonaI actually camped at Havasupai Campground but it was not listed on the site. You need to commit early and get permits because it is very popular but worth it! It is a 10 mile hike in from the rim.
Past trip
in Superior National Forest, MinnesotaI actually camped on Knife Lake in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness. It was one of the best experiences in my life since we performed geological mapping by canoe. We dove for, cooked, and ate fresh water clams, witnessed bald eagles and seagulls fighting over food, portaged into some of the least-visited lakes in the area and came out of it with a published geological map!
Past trip
in Monroe Lake, IndianaA beautiful camping spot and is quiet in the spring. We camped before the summer season so the facilities were still locked. The site we had right off the lake was very pretty and relaxing, especially serene in the morning.
Past trip
in Shawnee National Forest, IllinoisThe campsite overlooks the valley and there are incredible bluffs and geological features everywhere. It's so much fun to walk around and climb the rocks. I imagine fall would be great there when the leaves are changing on the trees below the bluffs.
Past trip
in Medicine Bow National Forest, WyomingMichael S.has mixed feelings towards this listing.
Super windy spot but the rock features are very unique and there were even some climbers. The stars were GORGEOUS at night. My biggest complaint is that it's fairly close to the highway.
Michael hasn't gone on any trips yet.

in Ouachita Lake, Arkansas
This is in a dry county!
in Crater of Diamonds State Park, Arkansas
Nice facilities and a popular spot for diamond and rock hounds like myself. The sites aren't huge but have electrical hookups.

in Pisgah National Forest, North Carolina
Quiet, nice facilities.
in Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Area, Tennessee
A unique place with a buffalo sanctuary nearby. Our site was close to the lake and had clean facilities nearby. It was quiet in the spring and the lake was beautiful.
