in The Sticks, TexasCan't wait to go back
I'm so lucky that I stumbled up on this gem. I was looking for a place to camp and wanted to be on the water, away from the "campsite crowds" and within 40 minutes of home because it was going to be a quick trip. This spot crossed them all off my list.
We arrived at the location and were graciously welcomed by owners and offered help with our gear. This came in very handy with the kayaks that were sticking out of my truck. They have bundles of wood for sale onsite and delivered it to our campsite. It got a little colder than I though it would, so this was nice!
After setting up camp on a level spot right by the fire pit, we stuck our chairs in the water and opened up an adult beverage. The campsite has a picnic table, 1/2 drum fire pit and awesome views. It was hard to not just chill out and take a nap, but we wanted to get some fishing and kayaking in.
We each caught fish right off of the campsite and kayaked up river to do some exploring. The water was knee to waist deep by the campsite with fish feeding all morning once the sun starts to set. We've already decided that we're going to be tubing on our next visit.
The plan is to rent the whole island on our next visit and invite some friend to join us. Looking at their booking calendar, we will probably have to plan well in advance.
