Past trip
in Sugarloaf Ridge State Park Glamping, CaliforniaWe loved this place. Absolutely a hidden gem. Clean facilities. Very friendly staff. Family friendly. And the host is diligent about ensuring people who do not respect the late evening quiet hours start to quiet down when itâs time, which is much appreciated at a place with a lot of families and small children. If you are a young adult looking for a place to drink and party, this is not for you⌠please go elsewhere. If you want to relax and enjoy the peaceful surrounding, itâs perfection. And highly recommend these clamping tents. Make sure to still bring a sleeping bag or a lot of bedding / comforters because itâs gets very chilly at night even in summer. The tent is large so you wonât warm it up from just the body heat with just 2 people like you would a normal 2 or 3 person tent. Also make sure to arrive early for the best experience because the road up to the park is a bit dangerous at night and signage is minimal⌠you wonât miss the place because itâs the only thing at the terminus of the road but still⌠itâs a stressful drive on that road at night especially in a large vehicle or towing so just arrive before dark and youâll be good. Ice water and other essentials all available at the store but the store closes pretty early so buy what you need right away. And make sure to drive slowly through the campsite area as there are many many children playing and not really aware of cars being around. Again high praise to the camp hosts. We had a blast :)
Past trip
in Adobe Boondocks Camp, CaliforniaBryan was a great host. Quick and easy communication. The property was really beautiful⌠amazing for sunset. We stayed at the Canto site âŚdefinitely recommend.
The drive up into the site has some rocky spots so bring a car with decent ground clearance and you should be ok. But 4wd will give ya more confidence, which I would recommend if you plan on arriving after dark. Very cool spot. Even had cell phone signal in many spots (if you want that haha). Ground is pretty rocky so definitely bring a sleeping pad or air mattress if ya canâŚwill ensure a good night sleep. Also, really solid fire pit at the canto site. There are some critters at night but par for the course out there⌠just close up your tent after dark like you should anyway and youâll be fine. Thanks again, Bryan!
Matt hasn't gone on any trips yet.
Hipcamp Hosts can leave an optional review of their Hipcampers after the trip is completed. This is where those reviews from Hipcamp Hosts will appear.
