Past trip
in San Isabel National Forest, ColoradoQuaint lovely little campground in a valley with huge sites and lots of wooded areas to explore. Stayed in site 17 which was adjacent to a tributary (there are several in the area) which was nice for washing pots and pans. Enjoyed exploring the surrounding hillsides and the rustle of the leaves in this secluded spot. There are also options for dispersed camping on the road leading into the campground. Thorough enjoyed.

in John Martin Reservoir State Park, ColoradoMark S.doesn't recommend this listing.
Visited Memorial Day 2020 in our tents and it was rough. The wind was incessant and merciless. Glad we had our covid masks so we didn't have to eat sand all the time. Ruined 2 of our tents - must have been 40 mile hour winds at night. First time I've left a campsite early. No shelter, no trees on the point, just dust, sand and tumble weeds. Seemed like Lake Hasty over the bridge might have been a little better on the wind. Might be ok in an RV, but not a place to bring tents. Not if it's windy.
Past trip
in Pike National Forest, ColoradoGreat site, but could still be cold even in June (2019). We had a few snow flurrys. Great open area and creek (very full) in back of many site. Extremely wooded, lots of privacy. Just a short drive up the road to Jefferson Lake. Would recommend. Hope for less rain if you go in June.
