Perfect hill country hill top camp
We had a great *first* hipcamp experience staying on Polly & Tomâs land this past weekend. Wanting to get away from the city, we arrived very late on Friday evening and were greeted with a telescope & sâmores supplies by Pollyâs husband, Tom. He informed us of all the things to look out for, and took us up to our spot on top of the hill. Itâs a fun little drive up, and you have a lot of options when it comes to setting up camp.
The view in the morning was great, and really appreciated the privacy as opposed to a State Park camp spot. Even our dog enjoyed exploring the terrain and tracking the animals that roamed the hill at night. Just be aware there are cacti and other pokey plants! So just keep an eye on your pet, and be ready to pull out the occasional thorn (this wasnât a big deal at all, just something to be aware of if your pet is sensitive to those things)
Polly and Tom offer potable, drinking water and is some of the best water Iâve tasted. We really appreciated this for filling out bladders for the day of hiking we had planned.
Coming back onto the property later that day for our second night was a breeze. We were able to get the telescope out and enjoy the cool air before returning the next day to League City. There was a little wind at first, but by taking the rain fly off our tent, it fixed any noise issue.
Living in Texas and wanting more seclusion with your camping can be difficult, considering majority of the land is privately owned. So we are very thankful for hosts like Polly and Tom who open up and share their land for others to enjoy. I love supporting our state parks, but when it comes to camping, we prefer a more primitive, private experience, and this fit the bill perfectly. Thank you!!!

in Peacock Hill, TexasWent on a beautiful fall weekend, with the leaves changing and the drier air coming in. This was a great spot for a little getaway with friends and our dogs. The site and fire ring were in a secluded area amongst the trees, and the host was always so quick to respond to our messages. We did not hear or have any issues with coyotes, and prefer a site with very few amenities, so this was perfect for our needs. Thank you!
