Past trips
in Yosemite National Park, California
You'll probably spot some deer! Try to disturb them as little as possible.
in San Bernardino National Forest, California
Hard to get to without a 4-wheel drive or other car with good ground clearance. In the summer, mosquitoes can be an issue. Love coming here for good bouldering and to get away from the rest of Southern California / LA. The only place down here that I can escape to trees / some semblance of alpine.
in Joshua Tree National Park, California
You'll have great views of the starry night sky! Gets cold at night, it's the desert!
in Los Padres National Forest, California
Must book way early! Beautiful campground, great for first-time campers. Love it here.
in Inyo National Forest, California
Be prepared for bears! Make sure all food and toiletries are put away in the bear locker. Don't wait to clean up after you've eaten! I have definitely had a bear walk through my campsite before and was luckily ready to make some noise (and a dog in the next site over helped!). Beautiful campground close to many lakes, good rock climbing areas and places to rent a boat. Love it and continue to come back every summer in spite of the bears ;)
