My husband and I spent our 5th wedding anniversary at Barbara’s little oasis on the Guadalupe, and we truly enjoyed every moment of our stay. The cottage was cozy and had all the comforts of home - kitchen supplies, A/C, comfy bedding, a small TV with satellite, a charcoal grill, even a fenced in yard that our dog loved (disclaimer, the fence may not be secure for larger dogs or escape artists though it was sufficient for our older guy). But of course what we loved the most was getting to enjoy the beautiful natural area around us. It’s described here as being the best of both worlds, secluded and serene while only blocks away from the amenities of Kerrville, and we learned during our stay that that’s no coincidence - owner and host Barbara has worked tirelessly through the years to keep the area as natural as possible while still allowing visitors to enjoy it. We got to take long walks along the lovely paved trail by the river, spent a whole day swimming and lounging in the shade of the cypress trees on Barbara’s own private river bank, and enjoyed a cookout in our little backyard as we watched the fireflies fill the air. It was a truly memorable experience made all the more special by the kindness and hospitality of our host. We can’t wait to return!
