The campsite was about 200 ft or so from a few different houses, so it wasn't really secluded. There was a road to another house that runs through the site, so it wasn't very private either. I ultimately did not stay the night here because I did not feel comfortable.
Past trip
in Soloman S.âs Land, ColoradoA great secluded campsite! Take a dirt road to Soloman's house, and then hike over a bridge, into the woods (about 300 ft or so) to a cleared camping area with a stream running next to it with a small waterfall. There's also a short hiking trail behind the campsite, where you will see an abandoned old cabin and more small waterfalls. If you drive past the house, there is an off-roading trail for 4 wheeled vehicles. (Some clearance is recommended on the car, it's a strenuous looking off-roading trail.) It's only a short drive to Golden Gate Canyon State Park, where there's lots of hiking trails. No bathrooms at this site--so you either go in the woods (or you can also take a short drive to the state park!) As stated in another review, there is only enough flat space for about one tent, but you can setup more as long as you don't mind sliding down the hill a little bit!) :-) Soloman provided us with a bucket to put out any campfires, and I believe there was a pile of firewood for our use as well (but we didn't make any campfires this time around.) Our stay was in July, and it did get cold at night, so be sure to bring a warm sleeping bag and blankets. We didn't see much wildlife, but I would recommend being careful with your food and trash, as the state park mentioned bears & other wildlife were in the area.
