Past trip
in Everglades National Park, FloridaHeidi S.has mixed feelings towards this listing.
We went over Christmas, and the campground was virtually empty. We did have a surprise visitor at our campfire, which was a little tree frog that jumped into my daughter's hair, so that will always be memorable. Make sure you use bug spray on your legs. Our legs were thoroughly devoured by no seems, and we itched for weeks afterwards. If not for these bugs, I would highly recommend this campground!
Past trip
in Dinosaur National Monument, UtahThe hike by Split Mountain is lovely with amazing views and such silence. The campground has really nice bathrooms and nice sunrise views over the river.
Past trip
in Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest, UtahWhen we arrived, the fire in Brian Head really impacted our views as the wind was blowing smoke right towards us. We went to Ruby's to do an ATV trip, and the winds came and took the smoke in another direction. We were there during their Star Party. Bring warm clothes as it cools off at night. Also bring your patience as some of the bigger telescopes had long lines. During the day, this is a beautiful park. Please stay on the trail, for erosion protection and safety if no other reason. My daughter was just touching a rock formation, and part broke off. Amazing sunsets!
Past trip
in Grand Canyon National Park, Arizonapay more for the premium sites if you can get one. They are right on the rim, and have the best views. The tent sites are off to the side, and don't have much in the way of views, but are conveniently located to a great view

Avoid the areas in loops B, C, and D that are close to the group sites. First, the bathrooms will be extra crowded, second the sites are louder (one group was loud till way past 11:30 when we were there), and third, they are a long walk to the shuttle bus and everything else
Past trip
in Grand Teton National Park, WyomingWe were uncertain about the nightly temperatures here, because I remembered freezing as a child. So we stayed in their tent cabins, which have a built in wood burning stove. These were very nice and I would recommend them if cold nights are not your thing. Do keep in mind that once the fire goes out, that it will be cold, so still bring your warmest sleeping bags. The bathrooms were perfectly acceptable and had dishwashing sinks. Colter Bay Village has just about every convenience you could want. They have a post office, showers, laundry, grocery, and 2 restaurants...one casual and one fancier. Due to all the wildfires in the northwest, out of the 4 days we were there, we could only see the mountains for about 4 hours, unless we were hiking inside them such as Cascade Canyon. Highly recommend Cascade Canyon for hiking!
Heidi hasn't gone on any trips yet.
Hipcamp Hosts can leave an optional review of their Hipcampers after the trip is completed. This is where those reviews from Hipcamp Hosts will appear.

Stayed in site 90 and recommend. Go to Old Man's Cave area early to avoid crowds.
in Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado
Really liked site 132. It is open, so you have nice views and stargazing. Very nice bathrooms!

Avoid site 26 in loop A... you will have the shower house for a view, and people cutting through your campground
