This is a really nice, private, no-frills site tucked away in a prime northwoods location: less than 20 minutes from Lake Vermillion, 40 minutes from the Iron Range OHVRA, 40 min from Ely, and about 90 minutes from Lake Superior.
Hosts are very kind, respectful, and accommodating.
Site is about a 3-minute walk from the lovely Pike River (could easily launch a canoe/kayak).
Includes a picnic table, fire-pit (bring your own cooking grate), rough tent pad, and a couple of good hammock spots. Lots of downed wood for small campfires. There is a large, grassy area near the campsite where one could park a trailer or RV and a couple of vehicles.
Very dog-friendly (no adjacent campers, no busy roads).
No Latrine and no potable water onsite (no problem - just plan accordingly).
Past trips
Site 1 - Cuyuna/Mississippi River
in Cuyuna/Mississippi River Land, MinnesotaThis is a great site on the Mississippi River with a nice gravel "beach" area, fire pit, picnic table, and plenty of room for tents and hammocks. Kayaks available, which we used to explore and fish. Hosts are warm, friendly, and helpful.
Close to town (across the street from a bar and bait shop). While this is convenient, it also means road noise. We also heard some ruckus coming from the bar at closing time.
I would definitely consider staying again!
