What a wonderful spot. We parked out Camry on top of the hill and hauled our tenting gear to sleep by the river. The kids loved swimming and exploring the riverbank. The adults loved having a rare 10 minutes to ourselves by the water. there are lots of great places to put a tent or a hammock.
Note: make sure you connect with Eric before you arrive to get entrance instructions as the cell phone coverage is minimal once you arrive.
It rained a bunch at the end of our trip and we had no issues with the road as we parked at the top of the hill. The host was very generous to offer to refund the last night of our trip since we got rained out.
We are all itching to go back!

(Dispersed site)
This is a great place to get away from the city for a bit, the site we had was private, had a great spot for a hammock, out host provided us with wood and an awesome composting bucket toilet. There is a fire pit and the nearby Fish Lake has good hiking trails and swimming.
The neighbors were pretty loud at night with their music and four-wheeling, it wasn't super close but close enough.
We did see sand hill cranes and deer. Its a great place close to the city to get away.
Past trip
Peach Peak
in Hillendale Farm, WisconsinIncredibly beautiful land
This is a very beautiful and private spot on gorgeous land. There are several short, mowed hikes nearby. We had a deer pop in on us and heard owls and coyotes at night which thrilled our toddler. Very quiet, completely private. There is no established fireplace or picnic table so plan for that. We brought wood and everything else we needed. Hidden Bluffs St Park about a half hour away is a wonderful place to hike and see the land. This is a special and rare piece of land to spend time on!
NOTE: The drive to the land may need 4x4 vehicle. Our Camry made it the 1st night but after a good rain it would not make it up. We parked at the house and hiked the 1/4 mile to the site. Our host Steven kindly offered to haul all our equipment down when we left.
Cody hasn't gone on any trips yet.

Abbott Acres

Host was awesomely chill and accommodating, the cabin is extremely cute and cozy, easy to get to and in really beautiful woods. This is a totally private spot away from any noise except the occasional distant train or coyote howl.
The kids were stoked for the toys and slide. Wood stove, some lighting in cabin, some extra pillows and blankets. Really we canât wait till we get to stay again!
