Evans Notch Mountain Cabin
in Evans Notch Mountain Escape, MaineThe cabin was absolutely lovely. My husband and I stayed there with our three kids and we were perfectly comfortable with an air mattress on the floor for extra sleeping space. It was our first time in a cabin with amenities, so working the outdoor shower and the stove were a learning curve, but we figured it out. A lot of thought was put into making this a cozy place to stay, from the sink-like set-up to the wood stove for warmth indoors, the fire pit and barbecue, fridge (!) and lots of snacks and drinks provided, not to mention linens, towels and toiletries. There are several hiking trails within walking distance (although it takes some map savvy and attention to the signs when arriving to figure out how to find the trailheads.) The views from the mountains were soul-soothing. We were glad we didn't have to leave the cabin once we arrived because the last bit of driving is very rocky and difficult terrain. Waking up to the view of the mountains out the bedroom window was simply fantastic. The night time ambience with the oil lamps and candles was lovely. This was a memorable trip for all of us (even the one who "hates hiking" and didn't want to come!)
A few things to be aware of are that people with allergies should think twice. While the place was clean, it was clear that dogs had been there. Also, the outhouse is...an outhouse. For those used to flush toilets when camping in state parks, that part is definitely a downgrade. But the lovely cabin and everything else made up for it.
The hosts were available by phone/text all weekend to answer questions, which was helpful. They are committed to making sure you enjoy your stay.

Autumn hasn't gone on any trips yet.
Hipcamp Hosts can leave an optional review of their Hipcampers after the trip is completed. This is where those reviews from Hipcamp Hosts will appear.
